Take a round of applause from all of us for not uttering a single worthless word or comment during filming - very professional!

How awesome would it be, though, if there were no commentary other than cursing up a storm during the tricky parts?

I actually much rather watch these videos. Straight to the point. It's like ikea assembly instructions.

Great tip on moving those clips and doing it in a direction that allows you to easily tap them into place with a screwdriver. This video gave me enough info to do all 4 of my struts in about 1 hour. Straight to the point without endless babbling, well done!

Good tutorial. You saved me at least an hour of pulling panels until I figured it out. Was able to replace them in under an hour. Thank you, very appreciated.

@Malachi Alvin Quit pushing your shitty software and then commenting to your own comment. No one cares about YOUR GARBAGE software. You're pathetic. Get a life, loser. 🙄

Done and done! Not nearly the PITA I thought it was gonna be. Thanks for the very helpful video. On my 955 I didn't have to take off the side seatbelt panels, BUT I only had to replace the main struts for the whole door, not the glass ones. Be CAREFUL around the AIRBAG components, and have a helper to hold / lift when needed.

Done in around 2.5 hours and taking the shocks out twice and the panels but still very achievable big thanks!

You make it look sooo very easy. I had a hell of a time replacing those struts on my Cayenne! And I agree with @Gubastek....no words, just doing the job! This was very helpful!

Did this today EZ. You only have to replace one for it to work though. Thank you.

Thank you for this. It was very helpful. Didn’t need to remove the cover in the hatch that was unnecessary and resulted in some broken tabs, but nbd. Thanks for the DIY!

Thanks for the vid! I bought struts for my Boxster and the two second bit of using a screw driver to pop the clip was what I needed! On the Boxster you have absolutely nothing else to remove, sorry you had to take all that housing off.

Made it look easy fantastic video ( i got quoted 2 hour to 2 and half hour job from Porsche specialist that will cost around £180 to £230 including VAT) for this to be done to my cayenne 😤

Un detalle importante es adquirir los remplazo "Stabilus" son los originales, cabe destacar que no es tan fácil retirarlos y colocarlos porque tienen presión. Pero video es bueno.

The glass lift strut as well as the hatch lift strut work in conjunction to add to the force required to hold the hold thing up. You need 2 of each. The big ones with the spring provide the main lifting force, but gets an assist from the glass hatch strut as well. Good idea to replace both at one time. I think it needs 40lbs of lift force per main strut per side. Mine fail every year, I've stopped replacing them on my 2004 but I might do it myself this time due to this excellent video. It's a truly horrible design in my opinion. Over-engineered and under-built.

So... i need to buy 4 struds?
@HowToDoYourself
@HowToDoYourself 4 года назад
It depends, if your rear lift door won’t stay up you will need the purchase a pair of the thick struts. The skinny struts keep the back window up. Due to the effort involved I recommend doing them all at the same time
