Thanks for watching! Please consider subscribing to my new channel here: www.youtube.com/@jamminpcs. I'm trying to move the easier hardware stuff there so that I can focus on the more in depth troubleshooting and diagnostic videos here :)
Wow, it's hard to believe - a recent video about my 9-year old HP G62 that I'm still using. The video was really helpful to me and I came across it just in the right time. Last night I watched this video plus the one about purchasing correct RAM because the usage of the original 3gb was overloading with running just few Chrome tabs and a single program (VS Code) so my laptop was slow af. I almost gave up and was about to buy a new computer. Today I upgraded the RAM up to 8gb and now it the HP G62 runs noticeably faster for just about $50. Thanks a lot!
Great story! Thanks for sharing :) I think that RAM and HDD to a SSD are the easiest, cheapest, and most bank-for-your-buck upgrades to do to any computer !! Nice work and glad he videos were helpful :)
I know this is an old video but I'm having trouble replacing the cable for the HD online. What is the connection to the laptop itself called? I have a sata to usb but nothing with the end connection. Thanks!
My bios setting may be corrupted in dell 14 5100. I can't setup windows.Previously i wanted to windows 7 but many drivers were not installed . What can i do
If you think something is wrong with your BIOS, you can reset it as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kTYlxcL1cQc.html. I dont understand the last part of your message. Are you asking how to install Windows 10?
Hi, this video helped me at first but a few days later after I enabled Legacy boot it just had the same error again. I turned Legacy boot off again and I was able to start it up but is there a way to prevent this from happening at all?
Assuming you have an HP computer, you can install Windows 10 as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p_N_xV7j_Xo.html. You can make your own Windows 10 Install Media free as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g_UhiHScaSI.html.
Hey, thanks for the video! If I have a broken pc that I have the hard drive from, can I plug it into another pc and access the files on it? It still has windows installed on it and the pc I want to connect it to already has windows as well
The caddy secures the HDD in place. Without it, the computer will still work, but the HDD may come loose, and that would affect the working of the computer.
hello! i have to separate ssd drives. and my bios won't see either 1.. tried to reinstall windows 10 from image flash,, instalation starts but stops when it can find a ssd or drivers from my flash.. help!!. hp laptop 5 years old.. thanks much..p.s i formatted both with a windows 10 pro.. is that ok?. the pc im trying to install on is just windows 10.. , i did have thaT PC OPERATING A FEW MONTHS AGO.. TILL THIS HAPPEND
Hello I have a HPO Slim Desktop 260-a010 I have a black screen Issue I tried adding EXTRA STICK OF RAM AND FOR SOME REASON I AM GETTING A BLACK SCREEN WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON WHAT CAN I DO BEING THAT IT'S NOT BOOTING UP
This is only happening with the new RAM? If you remove the new RAM and use the old RAM, does the issue go away? Are there any signs of life at all when you try to turn it on? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds? Anything seen on the screen?
Hello, I was wondering which company’s laptop is budget friendly? I am looking to spend about $300 or so. Also, is a 256GB or 512GB SSD enough to store Microsoft Office and other software like VLC Media Player?
Most computer brands have their expensive models and their cheaper models. Its not limited to one brand. It also depends on where you live as to what is available in your area. What country do you live in?
@@PC_Monkey Hello, Thank you so much for replying back, and I live in Long Island, New York. I had Dell and HP laptops, but some of them have an i5 or i7 processor. Is it worth getting a Ryzen laptop? Is a 256GB or 512GB SSD enough to store Microsoft Office, VLC Media Player, and other software, or should I get a 1TB SSD?
@@CrossingRubicon These days, I usually like going with an i7 if I can swing it. Also, anything less than a 500GB SSD is not a lot of storage compared to whats out there. I know Lenovo has many cheaper models but the speed is questionable. These are a couple normal everyday computers on a quick search: amzn.to/3uhDzP7 and amzn.to/3SKT1N0
@@PC_Monkey Thank you so much for getting back to me and for sending me the links, and I really appreciate it! I will go with an i7 processor. Do you think the AMD Ryzen processor is better than Intel’s? Should I get a laptop with 16GB RAM? Also, what screwdrivers should I buy if I want to upgrade the RAM and SSD? Which one do you use and recommend?
@@CrossingRubicon You can see some examples of repair tool sets here; www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey/list/2QAI8XMVWC7DK?tag=onamzpcmonkey-20&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d. What a computer can be upgraded to will be in the user manual as far as RAM goes. You may find it hard to get a computer with 16GB RAM for under $400. You may have to upgrade after purchase if the computer takes that much. Always here to help with any of that too when the time comes :)
You can see how to get compatible RAM replacements here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NtCzunl0AQA.html Let me know if you have any questions after that :)
This can tell you how to get compatible RAM; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NtCzunl0AQA.html As far as what brand is best, its not as easy as that. Different types are for different uses. You can get RAM upgrade ideas from crucial.com :)
Hi, I did the process to add the new ram to my hp G62 but when I'm done and try to turn it on, my laptop doesn't turn on. Do you guys have any idea if did any mistake?
Hi, my grandson dropped his laptop its a Hp 15 notebook and yes its telling me that no hard drive is fitted,I've watched your video on how to check if its good or bad but thats what its saying, so I thought well maybe its unclipped the hard drive and would like to take the back off to find out but the back on his laptop is all one piece and I dont want to take it off without knowing if anything is connected to it,please say you can help, thanking you in advance 😊
I would first unplug the hard drive and then plug it back in just in case it just came loose. If the issue continues, run the HP diagnostic scan as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o06Iv3Fc9Vw.html. Let me know how that all goes :)
@@PC_Monkey Hi PC I have tried all of what you said to try, when I did the quick check,it just said hard drive not found,so I took it out and reseated it and done another quick then extensive but it just kept saying hard drive not found. I was wondering as I have a few bits and pieces lying around can I put an Acer hard drive into the HP?
@@jaxworld4490 If reseating didnt help, then I would replace the drive. Yes, as long as the hard drive is compatible with your HP, you can replace it with that one
@@PC_Monkey YES it works PCM now the problem is getting rid of all the Acer programs and putting in HP pavilion programs? Or does that not matter? I can't believe you made everything so easy to follow PCM you saved my life lol. I can't thank you enough 💜
If a computer is good or not depends on if it has the correct specs for what you intend to use it for. Generally a i5 computer with 1tb storage and 16gb memory is good for most basic uses.
You replaced your RAM and your computer got worse? What was the issue before replacing your RAM? Are you sure the RAM was compatible as seen here? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NtCzunl0AQA.html
Was it working before the install? Its possible that something came loose or was damaged when you were inside the computer. Doublecheck all the connections. If thats not it, then you can troubleshoot a computer that wont turn on. Are there any signs of life at all? Lights? Fan, Motherboard, or Hard Drive sounds?
@@PC_Monkey if motherboard has damaged , I should change my motherboard and all part(CPU, GPU,...) Or if I change one part of motherboard for example one fuse , it will be fixed
I have a different issue I accidentally switched off my lenovo laptop while it was updating now it is showing undoing changed made to your computer . I have kept it tht way for more than two hours. Still it's showing the same what do I do?
The correct video for your issue would be here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g8WkyX0dan0.html. However, if the computer turned off during an update, often that messes up the operating system. You may have to reinstall it as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wu0c8wR5Ltk.html
You can install Windows onto it as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p_N_xV7j_Xo.html. You can create your own Install Media for free as seen here; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g_UhiHScaSI.html.
@@unknowztingzz1006 Does this look like your computer? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rPTp_PgyJbI.html If so, your RAM is integrated into the motherboard. You cant replace it without special equipment.
