Most adhesives are petroleum based so if you just spray them with WD-40 and let them sit for a few minutes the petroleum in the WD-40 will neutralize the petroleum base of he adhesive and it will just start to liquify. And because WD-40 is such a mild form of petroleum it doesn't affect or harm the paint. I've been using it to remove bumper stickers, dealership ad decals, etc. for years. Works like a charm!

I'll definitely have to experiment with this on my next sticker remover. I'm always up for trying new things and I'd be happy to give ya credit for it too :) thanks for watching!

@@tangentsdaily you need to make a video on how your selected, installed and after performance from the exhaust. It truly sounds incredible.

This is awesome. I just watched to know how much effort it will take to change the rings on my Q5 but after watching I felt like I can skip lol 😅 . But you did an awesome job. Great 👍👏 Thank you for this video 🙂

I wish I had found your video two weeks ago when I first started to remove my chrome badges on my 2018 Q5 and replace them with gloss back. The one tip from your videos that was a game changer for me --- putting clear plastic tape over the emblem so you can see where the heck you are placing them on the vehicle, as taping off the exact area still led to me making mistakes. Yesterday I needed to put on the "." in 2.0T and the Quattro emblem underneath that after a couple of fails. The tape application method worked! Thank you for this video!

I feel that pain. I made a few mistakes on my SQ5 myself, so It was just a lot of lessons learned -- and is why i create these videos. Thank you for stopping by! I have a bunch more videos on the way so don't forget to subscribe!

Great video thanks! Was wondering if you cleaned the area with soapy water or possibly alcohol to remove any adhesive remover film before installing?
@tangentsdaily

The adhesive remover is alcohol based, so it evaporates. Probably not a bad idea. I do wax afterwords to protect the paint again. I've had the same rings on since I installed it. The SQ7 and APR logo's i replaced.

I warm (not bake) the decal with a heat gun before the fishing line. It cuts like butter i usually only break once or not at all. The tape layout was perfect. I use wd-40 or light solvent (preferably both, WD first, light solvent to clean up) to clean up the backing adhesive jut i spray onto a cotton ball or Q tip and dab it where it needs to go. I came here because im doing the rear 4 rings on my 2021 Q3, and the stock emblem is radiused on the back, my aftermarket is not. (The q3 is more round than the 7) I can get it to stick, but the top or bottom will eventually pull away from the body Ive never tried this before, but im going to fasten the aftermarket emblem to a cylinder with some strong rubber bands and wrap a heating pad around it and leave it overnight. I only need a slight radius and i think i can get it this way. Has anyone tried this or Have a better way?

Thats a great strategy. One of the times i was taking off the emblems it was cold out and I agree. I broke more strings. Great call out!

I'd use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive on the old emblem and use some spray remover before starting the fishing line process. Also, use some rubbing alcohol before applying the new emblem.

I avoided the heat gun since it can affect your clear coat. I used Rapid Tac which has an alcohol base and it's also a degreaser. It's lasted three winters up to this point.

I’ve replaced my sq7 rear decal a few times, it keeps falling off. My decals are flat but my trunk is slightly round. I’ve been told to heat the decal so it bends. Did you have any issue like that?

Yeah definitely had issues. I went withe the Plate Gram.. a little more expensive but zero issues. iI just did a video on emblem failures it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-97IhlLdpR1w.html

Great video! Did you replace the exhaust too, or that is how you bought it? I have 2021 SQ5 and I am thinking replacing the fake ones and changing the emblems to the black ones. Mine is black color, if you have any suggestions. Thank you.

The exhaust is factory but I have the sports resonating kit on it. I think it sounds fantastic. I love Black on Black On Black. You could play with the Matte look as well with black car + matte black badges. Thank you for stopping by!

I have a little s1 and had the s1 badge on the back changed to a black one but iv noticed the S and the 1 are way to wide could I remove the one and use the same one to stick into the right place?
@tangentsdaily
@tangentsdaily 3 дня назад
If you use the tape as a guide it should keep the badges about the same height so it shouldn't matter how big it is.... Then if you go back oem, you can use tape to put it back to where it was origionally placed.

@@tangentsdaily so I can actually use the same badge? Even though the adhesive on the back of the badge has gone?
