This is an excellent video! Thank you. Couple of items specific to a 2013 Edge: 1. The center 2 studs do not have to be removed. 2. There is a locking tab directly under the edge of the camera that is not visible unless you gently pry the 2 surfaces apart. 3. Bit of WD40 makes studs easier to replace. I used the nut with deep well socket to reinstall. Then backed nut off and snugged.
Ive replaced 4 of these now and can do it under 10 minutes. The problem is they made several models of cameras and depending on year they are slightly different mounting techniques.
Thank you for this! My wife and I just did this and it worked great! A couple things we ran into that others might as well. The studded bolts were very hard to take out. Ended up putting some wd-40 on them and letting them sit 10 minutes and they came out fairly easy. Also, we replaced the weather seal that went across the top of that panel that has the Ford emblem on it. The original was crumbling off. We just used a rubber door/window seal and it worked fine. Just saved a ton of money!!!
Great video, very helpful, thanks. Just one suggestion, instead of using vise grips to remove and replace the six threaded studs, screw two of the nuts on the stud, tighten the nuts together with two wrenches, then use a wrench and one of the nuts to remove/replace the stud.
Absolutly accurate, comprehensive, easy to understand & a MUST Watch if wanting to replace camera CORRECTLY & without damage…tip…follow video and BE PATIENT👍
Thank you. Very well presented and super easy to follow. Got a bit lost on disconnecting camera but overall great video. You saved me a bunch of money from having Future Ford do this.
OMG! I was so happy to come across this video. Same day and got the new camera in the afternoon, and now the backup camera issue is fixed. I am so ve3ry happy. Thank you for the details on how to do this as well as providing the link for the new camera. Problem solved! Bless you.
@@addismultitasking3504 My wife (its her car) pointed out that the top of the license plate is showing in the camera vid. and never did before. I just looked at it now and see nothing not sitting right. Is there a way to adjust this so we do not see the license plate at all?
Great video. I've watched several and this one points out some little tips and tricks that the others don't mention. The demonstration of using a small flat blade screwdriver to separate the plastic tabs is pretty key. They break very easily.
I agree. This worked terrific. Just had to use WD-40 on one stubborn double-sided screw. And careful when going through using the flat head screw driver part. Thanks!!
Great video and a thumbs up. Thank you for sharing and doing it the right way. I think we all Do It Your selfers can use a little patience like you showed in your video and avoid being a wrecking ball... Thanks again...
Thank you. I’m a female and was able to do this myself and save money. Only problem I had was unscrewing the threaded screws and I broke one of the push pin wings following another video. I was pulling it down instead of pushing it in. Should have used your video first.
Ok, so this worked, and thanks for that. You know how to make a good video, as in you hold the camera close and steady when showing detail. Very few people get this. Two thing: The metal double sided screws that you need to take out with vice grips. Mine were stuck in hard. Like really hard, they werent budging. After letting them sit with some W-D40 for a while, they came out. Also, the camera you link to, it works but it seems a bit low quality and its actually a much wider view than the original camera. Maybe that's a good thing, I dont know yet but you can see the letters from the license plate on the bottom of the camera which is a bit annoying but no biggie. Thanks so much, so glad I tried this.
At 6:20, turn on the vehicle to see if it works. If you didn't make the connection correctly, and you button it all up without checking, you will not be happy. Believe me, I know...
2 Questuons please: I habe a 2012 Edge, My camera is blurry, doesn't have guidelines and sometimes says "Rear Camera not available " so will changing just the camera fix that, or is this a software problem? 2.d Question, I saw on aother video that the camera would have to be "programmed" is that the case and if so, do you have a tutorial on that? Thx so much. considering doing this myself.
