This is how I replaced a broken Mach 8 HP/AC Unit with a new Mach 8 on a 2013 Tiffin Phaeton 42LH. In particular, I address the installation based on a ducted supply and return air system, which most Class A motorhomes use. I have done all three on my Phaeton 42, and it was much easier after doing the first one. It seems a little intimidating at first, but as you will see in the video, it is quite straight forward. Hope it helps.

Did your instructions tell you to add the spacers? Normally, the hold down bolts compress the seal attached to the bottom of the unit. I hope that your spacers do not prevent the seal from being compressed properly. I have been a certified RV tech for about 5 years, and I have never used a sealant, or had to remove sealant when removing an old unit, on the gasket because they are made to be compressed. Usually, I try to get about 50 percent compression of the seal. Because of the sealant used I'm sure you won't have a leak around the unit, I just think it was unnecessary to add spacers, extra strips across the unit and use sealant. Just my opinion, good luck and safe travels

Thanks for your comments. I didn't have any instructions for a ducted installation and could only find info on internet for down draft units. (Thats why I decided to do the video). I think this was my second unit I had to replace, and I eventually replaced all three. All of them were installed at the Tiffin factory with spacers and sealant (I didn't know if that was right or wrong), so I installed the new ones the same way. I did find some information with respect to the little strips on inside of seal, that were there as a compression guide, I assumed so they would not be over compressed. I misplaced the original spacers, so I made some with 1/2" pvc conduit and cut them the depth of the compression guide strips. All three installations went well, and I have not had any issues with water leaks. Again, thanks for your input, I appreciate it.
