You can't just get any antenna base, the Prius has a pre-amp built into the base, so you need to get one made specifically for the Prius. Here's a web-based tutorial that I used as well: www.wallwatcher...

Thank you so much, I just went to the junk yard and got the part for $13 and swapped it out in like 20 minutes, and yes the plastic parts are so brittle now with age

Great video…but before you get to doing a complete tear down, if the actual antenna is broken or damaged, you can unscrew the antenna from the base and screw on a new one and you’re all set.
Mine just got completely ripped off in a car wash tonight but I have a Chevy Spark...Ugh! Appreciate the video but this may be one for the dealership. Im one to try to fix it myself but not sure this lady is up for the task.
Great video. Someone broke mine last week. After watching this video and how much work you have to do to change a stupid antenna, I hope the person that broke mine get his hands chopped off.

Is the Rubber seal just that easy to pull out? I got this same issue on mine and have to stuff to repair it, it is just te thought of messing with all those plastic holders..yeah not looknig forward to messing with those.
At about 0:34, you're talking about loosening the side panels. But in my 2007 Prius, the side panels are all one piece and there's a side airbag behind there on each side. Any concern that could be set off? Kinda weirded me out messing with this area so I stopped.
