I did it today with the help of this video. To get the back off by yourself, you need the suction cup with the metal ring. I used a heat gun and a suction cup and got my wife to wedge a guitar pick in while I pulled it open. You need a good bit of heat. 110 centigrade is 230 fahrenheit so you really need gloves. Lay down a white hankerchief so if you drop a little screw you can see it. The 3 screws holding the motherboard are a bit shorter than the 18 chassis screws so keep them separate. The new port works great. Mine is 3 years old and just wore out.

I have the option to do a fast charge but its grayed out! i dont know why. so I'm having a guy do this for me to replace it but thank you for showing me how it's done! Love my Note 9!

Brother makes it look soooo easy but I guarantee by the 7th screw of the 18 to remove the components my sphincter would begin to tighten as the realization of "What the f#$@ am I doing?!" washed over me. Very informative though, I wish the smartphone manufacturers weren't so anti consumer repairable but they are...hell they engineer obsolescence into the softwares with Apple style throttling and who knows what else so expecting them to make a charging port easy to replace is indeed wishful thinking....

If you want your phone to retain waterproofness you need to apply some silicone gasket around the usb port when you install it and ideally you should replace the back.

I wanted to make a companion video, but normally I use my phone for videos and the alternative kept timing out so no videos. 1st, thank you Serg Tech for the video laid out so cleanly. I've done phone work but every phone has their own troubles. I appreciate the run down which saves time. Great clear video. As for what would have been in my video, little pitfalls and advice. Hey guys, did 115 on my hotplate. Work your way up to a hotter temperature. Start below his 110 recommendation. I may have damaged my fingerprint reader or it didn't secure down well so I get the pleasure of going back in but a warning in case it is temperature related. Phone is still operational and glue separated easier at 115. A metal spudger was used to clean the phone glue off. Unfortunately, I forgot and you should know that paint on the glass back will scratch off the battery back glass. Use a plastic pry tool, finger nails, and something sticky like tape to clean it. Any electronics cleaner might discolor the paint so rather than try a chemical a peel sticker method with fresh tape for the last cleanup was best. Don't shoot for perfect. You just want the bulk off so the screen will sit flush with new tape. Once it is clean the etrade link and amazon double sided tape link will be best to seal the back panel. Apply it to the glass back so you can hover the glass back while plugging in the fingerprint reader. The double sided tape is for around the camera and finger reader. If you want a new back I found a link that is almost identical in adhesive to stock. The model number imei and other information wont be on the back like your screen but the most identical version of glass I have found is the last link. Colors with everyone I look at looks just to difficult to be certain of. I haven't been able to review the last link in person since I haven't gotten one but have one on order since I botched the fingerprint reader. I also included the link to a new port. Thank U My note 9 now have 64% battery and it's first time applying Power Saver mode LOL. I butned my USB port, maybe because the usb cable was wet. The mobile gave me a notification to check usb port but I see it later. Please wait a second to see if you have notification or warning while charging.

The charging port was defective in a refurbished Note 9 so fortunately covered by warranty. I wouldn't dare attempt to fix it based on what I see this entails in this video.

Frigging $1,000.00 phone that I have absolutely babied over the last two years and now all of a sudden can't even INSERT a USB-C cable into the phone. Like theres a pebble or something stuck in the port. Of course, perfectly clean and straight with no fraying. Called AT&T and they said whenever it's a charge port issue it's always user's fault without discretion. So they ask for a $135.00 deposit upon which they will diagnose the problem and then ask for more $ if needed. Bet they wouldn't refund any of it if they didn't need it though! I basically talked to a supervisor and told him to shove his repair offer and this brick that was once a phone straight up their smoke holes. I've been with AT&T since they were Bell South Mobility and then Cingular, right into acquisition of Cingular so, about 28 years now? So I asked them , "you guys can't swing a $30.00 minor repair after the tens of thousands that I have spent with you????" Bet I don't!!!! I have tried this method as I have worked AMS for Nokia Cellular Phones. I put a heat gun, a socked iron for model airplane covering and believe me, that back glass DOES NOT remove as easy as shown here. Couldn't get the glass to even gap at the top! So I stopped. Perhaps these guys are in cahoots with the carriers so you pig fu_k your phone just a little more so they make even better profit on a repair?????? Or maybe it's so companies like AT&T won't have to give you a full Trade-In Value of your in-perfect-shape phone! Either way this is irresponsible to suggest this type of repair to a typical end-user. The back glass on that thing, if you break it is $95.00 plus labor. Shame on Samsung for not fixing it for free also. Gooks!
