Just attempted this and could not have done it without this excellent video - thanks so much. I cheated on the internal retaining ring by disconecting one end of the spring!
Hi, thanks for your comment...it's so good to hear that you found our video so useful, and you were able to replace your door seal with our help! Well done for repairing and not replacing your appliance.
Thank you so much for this video, I had people asking for £100 + just to take a look and replace the seal, or sell me new seal and springs, I watched this video and removed the seal, cleaned everything and refitted it in pretty good time, my 15 year old son watched and helped me, afterwards he commented that it was easy and much better than being charged silly money for five minutes work. once again thank you for the clear demonstration and explanation.
Thanks for the comments Ruski, if you did this because of a build up of 'slime' mould or smells watch another video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ifWK9df1qgg.html
Thank you so very much for this Video! As a 28 y/o single woman without any technical education i have to say it wasn't easy but saved me a lot of money.I have an Indesit (Aliomatic) WDA 71400 (EU) Washer/Dryer Combo. For some reason a little piece of the door seal was ripped off so the machine started leaking. I called a few technicians and they all would claim around 230€ for the door seal+repairing!!! I bought the machine for 370€ a few years ago, so i decided to look online for the door seal and found it somewhere for 36€ (shipping included). .
I replaced the door lock without making sure that it was fully through the hole and wondered why the door would not close properly. Re-running the video makes this point clear. Full marks and thanks!
Best video I've seen so far, clear concise, easy to follow with a confident, relaxed talk through. Until I saw this I'd spent so long, and probably won't be able to plat the violin again!! Really many thanks, you are a star!!
+Richard Coleman Thanks for the comments Richard. Fitting the spring is a like fighting with an Octopus but with patience (and our tip) most can do it. :-)
Thanks for the video - managed to change my seal in 30 minutes. Found it much easier with the top of the washer off and also using your screwdriver trick. Thanks again
Hi Matt thought you video was brilliant. After following your instructions i realised the door seal my son got me was too small. I am a female and really pleased i managed to get the seal off
+Mary Rose Aitken You cant identified the correct seal by getting your full model information from the sticker around the door porthole and entering this at: bit.ly/1Ahdiq8
Thanks a million, saved €154 on a call out by sorting this with your handy video. One tip when reinstalling the door seal, push it fully inside the drum as if inside out, it works quickly.

Séamus Mac Craith Hi Séamus, glad to hear this. Check out our new diagnosis videos as they should help when you have a problem with your washer dishwasher dryer fridge hob or oven. And others will be added as we produce them.
thanks for the wonderful vid, got mine done in about 20 minutes, Upright didn't work for me, laying it on its back worked far better and the washing up liquid was a great tip. getting the inner retaining band on was tricky as screwdriver kept moving, in end I found that if I held it in place with left hand roughly at the 11 oclock position I could use my right hand to move anticlockwise feeding the clip in as I went, last bit just popped into place, thanks again for a wonderful vid
Followed this video to replace my door seal. Only thing I did different was to place the screwdriver on the inside to fit the retaining spring (held it closer to the drum rim). Only took about an hour. Thanks :-)
Difficult to get good technicians where I live so I do most work myself. I have a similar machine and this video was brilliant to resolve a leak caused by a damaged seal.
Our machine is Hotpoint HV5L125 managed to fit it in around half hour. Only adjustments to video was, It was easy to fit with top removed (Remove two screws at back lift slightly and pull back sharply.) I did not need to remove door at all, and did not have to remove lock as narrow screwdriver fits through hole in the lock easily to hold inner spring. But probably would have struggled without the vid. Thank you.
Hi, thanks You saved my ass. 1 day before a long family travel and i had no time to call maintenance.. i could do it by myself. Also the dor lock removal trick was usefull too!!!!
Hi Antal, glad to hear your appliance is working again and you saved yourself some money. These are the comments we love to hear about. Thanks for tuning in.
Thanks for this tutorial. The screwdriver trick did not work for me. I found it quite easily when my wife helped me holding the inner ring together. I never repaired a wasmachine, but i did this trick in 15 minutes thanks to this clear tutorial.
have just replaced due to your excellent vid (plus i didn't actually realise until i watched you that i'd order the seal from your company as was very dubious about getting a naff "copy" from ebay!) that said, a little under 2 and a half hours, sore thumbs, a sore back and sore fingers i did it! i won't be giving up the day job tho anytime soon! hard work but the mould just had to go - so a big thank you - you actually saved me about £111.00 from having to call out indesit!
sizkar9 Glad to hear your perseverance paid off. To prevent the mould returning and remove smells and limescale see this other video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ifWK9df1qgg.html
Perfectly clear instructions - as some have said, a bit fiddly, but with the lid off and a little judicial swearing, success was achieved in about 30 minutes - thanks very much, great video 👍
i didnt need to do the screwdriver part, i struggled like mad with the inner lip for an hour then realised i forgot the washing up liquid... after applying that it took me all of 20 seconds. thankyou :)
Thank you for this - yes the back retaining band was tricky, I bruised my knuckles and it took ages, but it’s one of those things that either goes in straightaway or leaves you cursing! I just hope it was a faulty seal that was causing the leak....
Hi Caroline, If you still have a problem see our diagnosis video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3esaKEhQ_VA.html Or go to our advice centre for maore information: www.espares.co.uk/advice
Wonderful. Thank you for the informatieontsluiting and your time. I have a question. My machine is perfectly ok. Only because of a leek in the doorseal I changed it and know when I spin the trommel it make's a noise. If I take the seal of the noise is gone. What is wrong? Or wil it go away eventually. Thank you.
Thank you, after removing my door seal to clean it I was having trouble getting it back on (due to the 'hidden' inner lip on the outer seal) having a bad back and getting a little frustrated I called a local repairman, "Oh yes we have them on the truck, you can't re-install it has to be a new one, £50 fitted". I thought that sounded like BS so after a quick search I found this video, seeing it done I realised my error and the machine was back together in a couple of minutes and is washing away as I type, only thing is I didn't need to remove the door or catch. ;) Thanks again!
Thanks for the tutorial. Didn't take the door or lock off (as there's no screws on my model) but didn't need to. Was a 1 hour and 2 person job, but we got there with one bleeding thumb and quite a lot of swearing.
Thank you for the answer. I'm using the machine with the noise and now 5 machines later the noise is less. But still there. If have replaced the door seal three times but I'll do it again. Thank you!
Thanks for the great video, I watched this a couple of times and then changed my door seal too. You make it look very easy my inner band was a bugger to get back on as it was pretty tight. It's working fine but the new seal is rubbing against the spinning metal drum. It seems bit of a tighter fit than the old seal, the rubbing creates fine rubber particles on the door seal. Will it ware in and be ok? I'm pretty sure it's the right seal and been fit correctly.
Hi Rob, A new seal may catch at first especialy if the washing load is not balanced and causes the drum to flex into contact (see our video: How to Prevent a Washing Machines Spinning Noisily). This often wears a small amount off the seal and stops being a problem but check the edge of the drum and remove any rubber off the edge of the drum with a plastic pan scourer to help it not catch again.
Thanks a lot for the reply your videos are great, I might give it a go with a scourer but it seems to be rubbing less now it's done a few washes, I ordered some of your cleaner too so will get it looking nice and new again soon!
Rob .w If you haven't watched it yet see our video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ifWK9df1qgg.html as this gives lots of tips how to clean the machine and prevent the mould coming back.
Hello im search about fagor washer but i cant see anything about that. I really want to know about replace a door seal in fagor washer. Fagor Elegance 1F- 1148IT. Thanks you and sorry my bad english! Congratulations about your repair videos are very good!
Hi Raaed Alhaidar, the easiest solution is to ask a friend to hold the one side while you move it around if not make sure you hold it tight with hand and as you go round keep pushing the one side in while you move around.
Hi Matt, thanks for a wonderful and very instructive video. Trust me, you don't want to see my door seal, as there's a bio-hazard warning sticker on the machine now; due to a new form of life growing in the seal well.. Now I have seen how it is done, I will commence with the replacement of the part, and give the old seal to the Ministry of Defence, who will no doubt find a way to weaponise this into a form of germ warfare. Oh dear, the U.K signed an agreement not to research that anymore; but that has never stopped them before... off to Porton Down we go, lol :-) . Anyway, I digress with these flights of fancy, and want to thank you for the time and effort you put into your film work. Cheers :-D x
Emma Webber Thanks for the comments Emma. To help prevent other 'life forms' evolving make sure you watch another video. :-) : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ifWK9df1qgg.html
Thank you for the video. Mine is Wia18. It has been used by my roomate. I am asking about the drainage pipe should it be high or connected to wastage outlet?
It is important that the drain hose end is not lower than the water level in the machine or it can cause the water to siphon away. For more information see our video: ru-vid.com?o=U&video_id=Leqc63H8G3Y
Great video. All done but I'm absolutely baffled that I now have a washing machine that doesn't spin. Even before I fixed the new door seal, it spun perfectly and I can't see how the replacement affected it other than perhaps the fact that the triangle at the top isn't currently sitting at the top. Could this possibly affect the machine not spinning?
Sorted it out eventually. It turns out that I'd placed the rubber too close to the drum. Then it transpired that it still wouldn't spin but I noticed that there was a loud noise when it tried to go into a spin. Looking back, I figured that could be the belt so I used another video to work out how to do that. Thanks very much but I still think it's worth pointing out how to get the top off the machine as I couldn't figure it out at first (worried I might break something).
Hi, my Indesit wax120uk washing machine's seal was wrinkled during a wash and at the end of wash it just would'nt drain, just kept filling. Watched your video and have taken door and seal off, seal pretty mouldy. Their was no spring to remove at front as on your video, just inner one. Also sometimes when I set machine for a wash the dial just keeps going round and clicking, do you think changing seal will help. Would appreciate your help. Mai.
HI Mai Dolat-shahi, it sounds like you have a couple of problems there. On some indesit machines with your type of timer if the machine identifies a 'fault' the timer keeps advancing in the manner you describe. This is usually if it has not heated or if it has not drained within a specific time. If your machine will fill and start but will not drain see our diagnosis video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-frEJhX9Sppw.html
Struggled with screwdriver for an hour. Did it without by hold in groove on left hand side and then running it into the groove downwards to the right and the pulling it around and upwards, all the time holding the left side in place with left hand. Took seconds.
Thanks for the comments Steve, to do your method you need a lot of strength in your hands and some viewers may struggle. However it is the easiest way if you can do it.
Fitted mine, but the outer seal on the original seal had no retaining band - it was glued and there doesn't seem to be a place for a retaining band (IWC71450). Would it be a bad idea to super-glue it back, or is there a specific glue to use?
+PEMBY'S GAMING WORLD Your machine should have had a retaining band and you can get a new one from the following link: www.espares.co.uk/product/es831870/ We would not advise to glue the seal in place in case you need to replace the door lock or other repairs.
I have the Maxx Vario Perfect AWE16166 . I changed the brushes, test the motor all working good. 3Leds are flashing at the spin LEDs . Can anybody help how to reset it .
I have the same issue with the small nuts that hold the screws for the door in on the inside of the machine . when i unscrewed the door they fell inside . when i put the door back on the screws don't hold and there is no access to attach the nuts from the back . will i have to remove the outer seal retaining spring to hold the nuts in place from behind?
Hi Karen, there is on some models a metal plate that can come away and fall to the base of the machine. If this has happened you can either carefully lower the machine onto its back and reach in to hold the plate in position. Or what may be easier is to un-clip the seal and reach in to fit the bracket. For details on removing the seal front edge see this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3IqArUKDLYE.html
hi matt please help me! I have changed my door seal and the new seal is making a terrible noise! The seal is causing some kind of friction and heat! have I done something wrong?
+Wendy Nelson If the drum comes into contact with the seal it will groan and sometimes even smoke on spin. Check you have the right seal and it is fitted correctly but if the drum is loose from bearing wear or if it is slightly off centre i will catch. If only slight it will usually settle quickly and wear a slight groove in it.
Hi can you please confirm all required for this job is the door seal door seal clamp and door seal retainer clamp? I am ordering off your site but the chat was very unhelpful
Hi Jacob, we cannot confirm anything without a full model and production number as there are many Indesit seals. If you have a problem fill in the information on the link at the bottom of the sites page: www.espares.co.uk/contact/sales
The cabinet on your machine is welded and the front cannot be removed. We are sorry but to replace the seal you will have to use the method in the video above.
Agree with Adam Middleton. I'm 65 and done quite a few jobs in my time, but this was 2 hours of blood, sweat and toil. By far the most difficult is the inner spring. You just have to calm yourself and then work up to the BIG PULL. You eventually work out a way yourself. Door lock tip did not work for me. Useful video though. Saved buying a new machine !
That spring can be a nightmare at times at should not be underestimated. The trick that can help most people is to 'fix' it at one point (the screwdriver method). Glad to hear you got there in the end.😊
I'm trying to replace the door seal on an indesit washer/dryer and trying to get the inner spring/clamp back on is an absolute nightmare, the seal just keeps slipping back off whenever the spring pulls against it
Hi Scott, if you have a pair of 'mole grips' fold the seal back into the drum. Then locate the seal at one point in the groove of the drum and fix with the mole grips (not to tight you damage the seal). Then stretch the band over one side of the seal and work it around the other halve until fitted.
Great video and possibly stopped a domestic incident lol, a few cross words were exchanged before you made it clear what we needed to do (*_*) Regards Rich Utg
Hi TheMasteredStudio 44, you have not mentioned showing an error code so let's start by checking the NTC which controls the temperature and let us know how you get on.
Hi David, the top panel can stick but is the same as shown on this tumble dryer video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MGsuFbufnew.html
Easiest way to get the door seal and retaining band on is firstly, let the seal sit in a dish of boiling water for approximately 5/10 minutes, my husband got it straight on within 15secs, (the rubber expands) tip from being a shipbuilder. Good luck and let me know the outcome.
Hi Naveed. If you watch our washing machine diagnosis videos you will see this can either be a drain problem or more likely a water heater problem. For information to diagnose your problem see our video: www.espares.co.uk/advice/7/1794/how-to-diagnose-a-faulty-washing-machine-heater
I've just put a new handle on but the door doesn't go back on the machine, I watched this to see if u had to put screw blocks from the inside to get the screws to bite, but you just screwed it on, what do I do now
+olaraay Hi, replacement door seals can be bought on our site, to insure you buy the correct seal enter your model number in the search box with "door seal" bit.ly/1Ahdiq8
Daniel Dalziel Try disconnecting the machine and carefully lowering it onto its back. This allows the drum to move away from the front and may help you with the additional space provided.
my washing machine keeps coming up f6 which it says it's the door lock I've replaced the door lock with a brand new one and it keeps coming up with f6 any ideas?
Great spares, great service, great video except for the bit about turning the seals inside out inside the drum You need to have an octopus to help you, as two arms don’t even come close!!!!
Thank you for your kind comments, Niall. Unfortunately, eSpares does not have a spare octopus available, but we recommend an extra pair of hands to make the process smoother.
Ally Taylor We try to show that many repairs can be done by even a novice with the right information. We hope if you choose to try all will go well but if you have a problem leave a comment and we will try and help further. :-)
If you have been loosing items you have not been checking the pockets of your washing. Be careful as this can seriously damage the washing tub. To remove trapped objects see another video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HlmVwVjte3Y.html
Hi Ben, we would like to think this video filled you with the confidence to tackle the project and save money. However, sometimes an extra pair of hands and lots of patience is required!
