Wish I had watched first! Darn, I didn't put the Velcro on to the new batteries. Well, if I have a problem, I'll redo it and use the Velcro! Still have the old batteries. But my arthritic hands hurt to much to deal with all the tiny screws and taking the chair apart again right now! Lol. I was so proud to call my son and say, don't worry about my chair, mom did it all by myself! But I think I'll wait until I see if I have to do it again to put on the Velcro! 🤦then leave that part out! 😂 Thanks for the great tutorial! Very helpful!
Mine is the Z. Chair but was pretty much the same as the go-go except mine had 10 screws and washers to deal with...very tiny ones...thank goodness my screwdriver has a magnetic tip or I would have lost them! Lol I still haven't taken it apart and put back on the Velcro yet. But know I will have to very soon, just need a few rain free days to get my hands a bit less painful, then I'll do it. Good luck with yours!
Thanks for this tutorial. I didn't figure I'd need one, but the first rule is "don't force it" and and just about everything on this unit is very snugly engineered, with screws fastened a bit too tightly and deeply recessed, out of sight. When the leads wouldn't just slide off, or the battery come out easily I came here to find out why. Nice job.
I get 12AH Powersonic batteries from TNR Electronics for around $70 locally in Socal. I got an 18AH size battery case from Monster so I have a spare high capacity battery and a 12 AH one. Good for an all day Zoo visit. The 18 AH is quite a bit heavier than the 12AH one.
For a lithium battery pack I always recommend going with the correctly paired lithium charger. Using an AGM charger on them can be possible depending on the built in BMS, but going with a lithium charger is the best way.
Anybody know where I can get terminal connection replacements for this? I noticed one of my negative terminal connections has corroded and broken on the inside.
The terminal style shown on the batteries are called F2 spade terminals. The connectors that fit them are called 0.25" spade terminal connectors and they can be found in the electrical section of a lowes or a home depot
Hey, my scooter hadn't been used in over a year so I misplaced the charger I bought a new one, but weirdly enough when it's not even plugged in the light is on. I charged my scooter for a good 24 hours then tried to use it a few days later and it stopped working within 2 minutes. My dial was at the top at the green level and as soon as I pushed the handle to go it went right down and kept repeating this. Is this a battery issue do you think? Or a charger? As I'm scared to take it anywhere incase i get stuck. I'm wondering have the batteries died because it hasn't been used in so long. Any advice appreciated. Also what voltage were those new batteries you fitted? I have a Pride go go elite traveller. Thanks ☺️
I want to go lithium ion but are 14.8 volt batteries which cause the over volt alarm. Any suggestions on a fix? I don't want to go lower on volts with the lithium ion. Unplug the overvolt signal wire? I was thinking can use two 12volt regulators… Or use just one on the overvolt signal wire...
Lithium ion batteries should have a battery management system (BMS) integrated with it (if sold commercially at least). The BMS protects the battery from unwanted electrical conditions like overcharging, discharging, balanced cell charging, etc.. If the "over volt" alarm is triggered, that's just the scooter trying to warn you that your [expected] lead acid battery isn't right. You can just disable that signal wire (I'm unfamiliar with this particular mobility scooter but they're all basically the same thing). The higher voltage won't really do anything to the motor or display, they're usually very rugged.
If it's a lead acid scooter battery pack chances are it has a pair of 12V batteries in it. Single battery packs are usually lithium and must be replacement with another lithium battery.
You can check the charger using a voltage meter. Most the chargers for these scooters are a bit tough to test because they will show zero voltage output until they are connected to a battery. Here at the shop we typically have the customer bring in the battery and the charger. We first test the voltage of the battery, record that number, then plug in the charger. We leave it on charge for several minutes, unplug the battery pack, then test the voltage of the battery pack. We are looking to see a higher number than what we previously recorded. Keep in mind if the battery pack voltage is to low - less than 10V most of theses chargers will not register it and not engage.
You can use either the 12AH or 18AH batteries but it comes down to the battery case size you currently have on your scooter. If you have a case like the one pictured in this video then the only batteries that would fit in there would be the 12AH series (15AH upgrades are available). If you wanted to use the 18AH batteries you would need to get a new battery case that fits them. The advantage of having a higher AH battery is longer run time and distance traveled before you need to recharge your battery pack.
Yes- More Lasting-Distance and More Pulling Power- I'd get the 18AH batteries and I also Use my Go Go To tow my Lawn Spreader and a 18" Lawn Mower and Mow my own Small ( 1500 Sq Ft.) Lawn now for 4 yrs..up here in Wi. Freedom again and Doing my Own Lawn Again! Saving me Over $700 yr hiring someone and have Planted Bushes with it as well.
Is the battery pack for the Elite Plus version removable with a handle as shown in the video, or is it a battery case permanently mounted to the chair?
Damn I don't have this one. I have a similar thing I'm trying to work on but it has wires in the lid leading to the battery I have no idea why but I'm trying to change the cover since the handles broken. The side says buzz around xl I don't usually work with this type of stuff so I don't know if their is a certain sequence or anything necessary for the wires.
We have a 30 day return policy for all of our batteries. The old batteries can be recycled at any location that sells automotive batteries, they will take it off your hands for free.
Hello thank you for an excellent tutorial.can I ask for some advice please? My charger yesterday had a red power light on but no charging light.today the power light is green but no charging light.do you think I need new batteries? They've been plugged in for 24 hours.thankyou
I don't believe the actual power light changes color, to my knowledge the only light the will change from green to red is the charging light. Are you having run time issues?
Hello since I posted my question my son in laws dad has said he will check charger and batteries tomorrow to check if there's a problem but thanks for your swift response
I lost my cable to recharge the batteries when I moved from house to house. Does any of you guys know where I can buy a new cable ? Thanks for replying.
When you say cable do you mean the whole charger for the scooter? If so we do have them - www.techbatterysolutions.com/24-Volt-2-0-Amp-Battery-Charger-XLR-p/c43.htm
Got 2 new batteries recently, worked fine a few times we fully charged it, only ride it for a few minutes to get the mail yet it almost runs out of power..whats causing that? Thank you
If the previous set lasted a few years without this issue (had a normal life span) and this new set is performing poorly right out of the gate then your most likely looking at an issue with your new battery set.
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc thank you for responding I appreciate it. I recently bought the scooter used but in good condition. We got it cheap so we didnt mind spending the money on new batteries, but the new batteries are draining, or something else is happening..
@@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc Thanks Got the case apart and find I have bought 2 batteries with different connections to the one I have is there any connectors I can buy
Typically its a run time issue that first alerts the user to an issue with the batteries. In terms of what else can go wrong with EV scooters - thats pretty open ended, anything can wrong from a simple fuse to a motor shorting out.
Hi, when attempting to fit new batteries there's a spark when the red lead touches the appropriate terminal. I'm sure I've followed the battery replacement instructions correctly. Does anybody have an suggestions what's going wrong? The circuit breaker won't reset once tripped unless the leads are removed from the batteries again.
If your getting a spark then you have the batteries wired up incorrectly, it sounds like your completing the circuit which will trip that breaker. Double-check your wiring.
We have a pair of 12V 12AH batteries as shown in this video available as well as an upgraded 12V 15AH set that will get you longer run time in the chair. You can find them here: www.techbatterysolutions.com/go-go-elite-traveller-sc40e-sc44e-battery-replacement-kit/
Thats not one I have run across before, can you try placing the battery in the battery box with the terminal facing the opposite end of the battery pack to see if you get more slack in the wires.
When the batteries are new, they typically ship about 80 to 90% charged so you can top them off for an hour or two on the charger prior to usage. After you have run the set down the standard recharge cycle is about 6 to 8 hours
It should arrive lFuly charged..Got a Battery Tester? If not? Install in the Case, Turn It On and See if all the Lights Light Up! I run my New Ones down to 10% Remaining and then Recharge for 12 hrs the 1st 3-4 wks..If Store for Winter?( I store mine for 5 mos here In Wi., After Full Charge, I Put a timer On my Charger Pwr Cord and set to go On for only 2 hrs once a week while its stored.. They've lasted 3 yrs vs the Normal 2.. I replaced mine this 4th Yr/Season with 18 AH new ones..I have another Down at my Winter Mobile Home in Fla. and do the same with it..( I fly down & Back with Free Air Fare Miles and a KFC Lunch goes with me..) ;-)
When you plug the charger into the wall out let do you get any LED lights on the charger? If so then there is a good change your charger is functioning. If your chair has sat for several years not being used then your most likely looking at a battery issue.
@@glove2355 Okay, usually they have LED lights on there that will light up to show there is AC power going to the adapter. If you don't see these lights it normally indicates and issue with the charger. Do you know what the voltage level of your batteries is?
Well, If you try to Pry them out? Don't Break them Open, Full of Battery Acid. I would take the Battery Box to a Auto Shop and ask them if they can take them out and Give them $10-$20 . If they spill some acid , they can wash it off right away.. Otherwise? Have to Cut the Battery Box Holder Open and probably Spend $100 or more a New Battery Box.. Or take it to a Scooter Dealer and spend more to have it done.
The batteries shown in this video are a pair of 12V 12AH units you can find here: www.techbatterysolutions.com/go-go-elite-traveller-sc40e-sc44e-battery-replacement-kit
My GoGo Elite Traveller will not charge, I have tried to press the reset button because the scooter has not been used for a while, the button will not stay pushed in, it just seems loose , I have never let the battery go below red, get you advise please what the problem could be, thank you
It's not uncommon for the reset button to seem loose - in my experience, this means it doesn't need to be reset. I think you might have a set of deeply discharged batteries. Do you have access to a voltage meter to test the resting voltage of the batteries at all? If they are below 6 volts each then chances are your charger will not recognize them and not engage to begin the charging cycle.
High-Tech Battery Solutions, Inc No unfortunately we haven’t got a voltage meter is there any other way we can check the batteries or not or do you advise we purchase a voltage meter?, it is possible that we did leave it to long before the last recharge, I would be great full for any further advice please , thank you
@@chrisjones-rd3lw There really is not a good way to check the batteries without getting your hands on a voltage meter. If you don't have access to one you could always try taking the battery up to an auto zone or another automotive store - they should be able to test them for free while you wait (call ahead to confirm).
High-Tech Battery Solutions, Inc Hi, we managed to get a voltage tester it read 12 volts, we also tested the charger which was showing green there was nothing showing up that the charger was giving out a charge So in that respect I suspected that the charger is faulty with this I have sent for a new charger from Ebay Many thanks for all of your help
