How to replace the Main LCD on the Anycubic Photon M3 Max

Since I was unable to find a video from ‪@anycubicsupport917‬ that was dedicated to showing how to replace the main LCD on the Photon M3 Max I decided to make my own as I got a new LCD under Warranty.
Be sure that nothing other than resin is in the vat including failed piece of supports as that was the reason why my original LCD screen broke.

This was way better than the official guide! They did NOT note the 3m holding the LCD panel in place, destroyed my old screen I could have saved....

Thanks a lot! There's a couple of things you covered that actually are not in Anycubic's video.

Thank you! Exa the why I opted to make one as I prefer to have a step by step guide especially For things I haven’t done before

They run 220 now, and they come with a side box of Updock.

Are the adhesive strips necessary?

Nice guide. My Mono 6K uses Kapton tape to surround the LCD. I doubt the Max uses “Electric Tape”. Just an FYI 👍🏻

@MinWin3D Год назад
I’m used to seeing Kapton tape in its orange color so you’re likely right about that.

The consistency is very close to Electrical tape (electrician) but is cut in a template much like any other vinyl sticker material. This stuff is especially thin though. There is however, a stiff backing on top of the tape to help retain it's shape until it's installed, then you can remove the thick (clear) backing.

I contacted anycubic to get a replacement seal like that and they advised me to use black electrical tape, they even sent me an Amazon link to buy a couple rolls lol

@@dragonx151 Im going to guess as soon as resin touches the seal, it ruins it?
@dragonx151
@dragonx151 Год назад
@@Mad_Catter_ I don’t think it ruins it if you can get it off before it hardens. I had some hardened resin on mine that adhered to the seal too well and ripped it when being removed and that’s why I wanted a replacement from anycubic but apparently they don’t sell just the seal but it comes in the lcd replacement kit so idk

Mine is broken too and the printer is only a few months old! What causes the LCD to break-I feel like I’ve been very careful with it?

My screen is coming out in pieces chunks of glass... any tip to loosen the glue? perhaps a heat gun?

@@krakan4383I used an hair dryer as resin got in and sucked the screen down tightly. Loosened it and could put the new screen in

It didn't come with a screen protector? Wow, the support lied to me then.

My screen ended up broken after two prints, I had swept the vat of a small section of failed support but one particulate in the corner of the vat remained and next thing I heard was *crunch* So basically if I see a fail, I'm just going to strain from now on.
@MinWin3D
@MinWin3D Год назад
Actually it does come with a screen protector! At least mine had it pre-installed. The new LCD though did not have a screen protector included. I feel you there as that’s literally the exact thing that happened to me. 2nd print & did a quick exposure to remove stuff directly under the build plate but a small piece of support was in the corner & then I heard a horrid crunch 🥲 Haven’t had it happen again but I’m super careful now

Alright so follow up after install using this video, I'd recommend everyone use this video instead of the one provided by support #AnyCubic. Side note: Be prepared to fight old adhesive for an half hour or so, so you can have a plane surface to bond to again, everywhere you see adhesives. If you are installing the new glass plate, it will NOT sit perfectly centered into the milled out hole and you risk overlapping the adhesive and print area (or poor adhesion) due to lack of mounting surface on the glass when placing the LCD. This could be negated with some sort of custom tiny shims before you replace the glass somehow. Aligning the LCD to the machine and the LED matrix seems to be a non factor and we simply have to hope things are self adjusting or the engineering doesn't need picture perfect alignment with the rest. All in all, ENSURE your vat is completely 110% empty of solid mass before you print again. A horizontal wiper and a dip of the finger along the edge to feel for particles may or may not be called for. All in all, if you are new, be VERY careful as this is an incredibly delicate style of printer. No fault of AnyCubic there though, that's industry standard as far as I have seen. #AnyCubicPhotonM3Max #AnyCubicPhotonM3MaxRepair #AnyCubicPhotonM3MaxLCD

I just assembled my new max. I removed the protective plastic with the tab from the screen. I can see a relatively thick sheet of plastic on the screen and inside of the black mask. Is that the screen protector? The instructions with the replacement screen protector that came with the new printer shows a polarizing film and the screen protector goes over it. Is the thick plastic I see the screen protector or the polarizing film? Thanks
