Watch WAY too many vdos where someone tells you what needs to be done and what they did but NEVER actually SHOW you how/what to do. LOVE your vdos - you show the whole deal! That makes people like me - Joe Average trying to save a few $$$ by doing it Myself - pretty confident that I CAN do it. Tks and yep I DID IT! LOOK MA - NO LEAKS!!!😎😄🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 TACOS FOR EVERYONE!!!!
The oil lines are difficult to push into the couplers on the radiator.......to make this easier, I position the cooler lines in the couplers and then place an appropriate size fuel line disconnect tool around the line. I press the tool in an effort to push the cooler line deeper into the coupler. When it becomes difficult to insert the line into the couplers I place a tube wrench against the fuel line tool and hit the tube wrench with a small hammer resulting in the cooler lines entering the coupler until they are in the right location.
Why do you need to replace the oil cooler lines? I have oil in the coolant & I think it's from the oil cooler, not the crack head (no water in oil, 1994 Chevy K1500). How do I know what parts need to be replaced (oil cooler, the gasket & o-ring, or the oil cooler lines?) Any advice & suggestions. I'm an older woman & start learning, watching RU-vid & doing the work by myself if it's simple & if I could.
If you have oil in the coolant, chances are you possibly have either a blown head gasket or the radiator is internally cracked and causing cross contamination. Check your oil level and see if the oil is a milky color, that would indicate coolant mixing into the oil, if that's the case then it might be time for a mechanic to check it out, the reason for replacing the oil cooler lines is the rubber lines themselves deteriorate over time and leak at the crimps and will leak right thru the hose thru pinholes, good luck!
thank you for this video, im getting ready t change the oil lines on a 95 4x4 blazer, it has 2 different lines 1 from the filter housing to the radioter that you just swapped but there is another 1 that goes from the block to the filter housing & the line bracket for thise lines are connected to the oil pan, it just seems to me that they just made everything harder to do, i do not understand why they judt didnt put the oil filter straight on the block like most older cars instead ofswitching to off set filter placement
@@theman9764 no its located in the same place in the video, im not sure if that blazer he worked on has 1 line or 2 because it looked like he just replaced the 1 that went from the oil filter housing to the radiator, but there is another 1 that comes from the block to the filter housing, i had trouble fig out how to get that plastic holder that holds the lines to the bracket that then is bolted to the oil pan, now imscared if i remove those bolts my oil pan will leak & i do not want to change the oil pan gasket becayse reading the chilton book its really hard to do
Great Video, I'm the process of changing the oil cooler lines this.. my lower line just popped out this week. I had a puddle of oil on the front left tire. I said WTF..! I had did my oil change too. All this after I had replaced my radiator about 1 yr ago. Go figure? So I'm paying more attention to both lines when installing them. I have to hear the click and see if the clips hold the flare head lines and I'll pull to see if they are in place. I have to purchase a set if longer metric wrenches for the 13mm bolt. I had cut the rubber lines and remove the cooler assembly 40 torx bits gave me hell.. so I'm cleaning the housing and buying new gasket and O-ring seal. Where did you purchase the new oil cooler lines from? Thanks
@@theman9764 Good Evening, I was able to order the Oil Cooler Line and the Oil Cooler Housing gasket and O-Ring.. it comes in a kit for $1.91 and the lines were $41.79.. super cheap compared to the big box auto parts stores.. that their price was double and triple the price.. I had to cut the rubber lines.. I had a problem with the 13mm bolt, it wouldn't budge.. I 'll remove it on the table vise to hold the Oil Cooler Housing. Original part was never removed since factory assembly. Thanks again..!
very good video where I can buy the oil filter housing and how much does it cost. They don't have auto zone. o'really. Advance. and napa. I have a 2002 astro van and the oil was mixed with the antifreeze. thanks for your attention.
@@theman9764 copy that. Thank you! I couldn’t tell was trying to make a guess from your other video on this truck. Thanks again much appreciated will be following your video this weekend on my blazer
Yes it's the same thing, if it's 4wd then it's way more difficult to work on, the Trailblazer package was basically a more luxurious version of the blazer but everything underneath is exactly the same
