Great video. What codes were in the memory ? What problems were the customer complaining about ? Were there any drivability issues ? Why not replace the oil temp sensor while you're in there ?

Thanks Brian, the manufacturers make it more and more complicated for the DIYer to do such a job. It’s not difficult but just time consuming to do such a simple replacement. Appreciate your detailed camera work.

Awesome DIY video. I took on this task after dealing with the 0520 code. I didn't want to deal with the shops on this as I had just paid for a new transmission and some other repairs on my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I watched your video multiple time until I had the general gist of it. The detail you provide is super helpful and I followed it to the T. I did run into a few snags along the way namely the 13mm driver side nuts (2) to loosen those bracket arms and some socket clearance on the sensor once I got to it. The 13mm wrenches I had were too short and too thick for the tight spaces so I went to HD and they had a set of skinny longer wrenches in standard and MM. I was able to make the turns, albeit slowly on the one closest to the engine back wall. That one is super tight but you just have to keep at it to get the bracket loose and after a bit you can start wiggling the top housing to get those side arm brackets to full loosen and slip past the bolts. But once I got those to clear then the two mounting bolts that go into the passenger side slots they needed a little wiggle to but you said to pull to the drive side and out they came. The clearance issue on the sensor once everything was off was a hose that made the socket hard to clear onto the nut of the sensor. I just took a flat metal pry tool and just coaxed the hose a little to soften it some and then I was able to get the socket to clear onto the shaft of the sensor and then used flex head socket tool to loosen and remove. I forgot to mention that my original sensor clip connector was facing downward when I got to it and I couldn't maneuver my finger under the sensor to push while I pulled the connection off. So, I got a hook pick like tool that I ultimately used to pick out my gaskets and I has an odd curve to which allowed me to get under the sensor where the push tab is to release then I took another tool in my other hand (pry like tool) and I was able to press the hook tool in the tab and then push with the other tool to push the damned connection harness off. Hallelujah! Then as mentioned, I had to deal with the tight clearance on getting the socket over the sensor. I did not remove the oil temperature sensor that sets above the pressure sensor. I thought I would need to when I ran into clearance issue with sensor socket. I bought the socket set you recommended. I didn't use the any of the other sockets. Just the one that fits the socket and uses the 3/8 connection. Tip for other DIYers, get various size adapter socket extensions in 1/4 and 3/8 sizes so you can get to the 8 mm bolts easier. Putting everything back together went smooth. Be sure that the housing bolts are cleared and stuck in the up position when repositioning the housing cover (forget name of it) so no bolts get hung up. Also, follow the 6 ft pounds torque. My new torque wrench somehow changed settings and I overtightened two of the top cover housing but the other 5 were fine once I realized my torque wrench settings got all goofed up. Oh well. 5 will hold it just fine. I started car and check engine light was still on but I will drive it shortly and see if error clears. I can clear it with diagnostic tool but my son recommended I see if the car will clear it naturally. We shall see what happens and I will report back. Thanks again for taking the time to help out all of us guys/gals that want to do the jobs ourselves. Many blessings to you all in the new year. Peace and I will report back about the check engine light going off or not. Lastly, this took me about 6 hours in total split between two days. I was exhausted after the first day which I got to the point where I was able to get the socket on the sensor but didn't remove it yet. I left that for the 2nd day as I was beat! Probably more psychological exhaustion than physical since I had never done anything like that to an engine before. Taken out a full dash to get to the heater core on my older Jeep Grand Cherokee but never took on an engine dismantle before. I was a bit nervous but confident too!

Excellent Video as others have said! The only suggestion I have is the upper intake manifold removal is probably the hardest part. The 7 bolts should be “captured” in the manifold to make removal easy. If you pull them up or push them from underneath and counter rotate a few turns they “lock” into the manifold and don’t fall down. If they fall down removal is impossible. I fought the rear most bolt, under the cowl for a long time, then propped up the front of the manifold with a 2x4 and reached under with a long screwdriver to push that bolt up, then she came out easily. I am just trying to help others, this video is excellent. I also went ahead and replaced the entire unit with an aftermarket all aluminum piece, then you don’t need the sensor wrench as the unit came with new sensors installed. At $150, which included all gaskets it’s a pretty good deal. As others have said I also replaced the spark plugs since there is 128k on the Jeep. Thanks Again!

No kidding friend, I needed to change my Coolant Temperature Sensor recently, (I have no way to raise my vehicle) it's located down below those a/c lines that he pointed out, it takes a hell of a lot of patience yo reach it just to unplug it, but after days of trying, and Finally getting the plug off.... Socket wouldn't fit over because a line is right over top of it (requires deep socket). Had to cave in and get a shop to do it. But now I have an oil sensor code tripping 🙄

How is this motor, regarding bleeding air from the cooling system (after repairs)? Is it stubborn, or typical? I see a air bleed screw on the tstat. My customer had a oil cooler replaced, and a little while later, blew the radiator. Apparently, dealer gave vehicle back, but temp needle ever since had a mind of its own (more than likely fighting a air bubble). Unfortunetely, looks like the head gaskets have now bought the farm. 😢

Hey - I was charged $1166 to replace rear rotors, brake pads, and to replace the oil pressure sensor because of a P0250. I was told it was because the whole thing needed to be taken apart to get to it before replacing it, then they put in some new parts also of the stuff they removed to get to it. Mostly labor costs - $300 alone for the oil pressure sensor. I can't help. but feel like I got ripped off, but I've seen others on here say it's buried also on a 2013 jeep grand cherokee overland summit. Now I'm getting a P0741 and I am wondering what's going on. I have all the symptoms of it - the bad gas mileage all of a sudden, the rpms higher at times, etc. Thoughts? I could really use some good advice.

Gone are the days it’s right next to the oil filter like the old straight 6s huh? Where we had to worry about breaking it off when replacing the filter….WTF?!. I don’t feel like doing this if it’s indeed the reason for the P0520 code. I can’t believe the put it there. Stupid engineers (I can say that bc I am one? Lol. One of the best videos I have seen out there for a repair job though! Thank you!

If it was the one with the green cat that is the Evap purge line. If it was the bigger hose then it’s the PCV breather hose.

My 2014 Grand Cherokee was a little different and my pressure sensor was pointed down some and there was a raised casting on the block right where the sensor socket went so would not line up to get it on, ended up having to grind down the wrench end of the socket so I could slip it on and I think King Kong installed it because it was TIGHT! Did get it done though and thank you for the video, stupid design to place it there, engineers should have to replace parts after the whole car is assembled to see what it’s like.

Ok, do not do this ,it's WRONG.take of the wipers&arms, remove plastic cowl, reach down behind motor ,pull off silver can&bracket,2 top bolts on transmission.u can now reach oil pressure switch.(U can't see it,without a mirror) but you can feel it .should take about 1 hour ,if u don't know what your doing,20 minutes if u did 1 before ,no BS, easy,easy...u can thank me later bro ........👍
