They use plastic so that the worm gear wears before the pinion, which makes the repair much, much easier. It's nylon too so they do last a pretty long time. Trust me, much better than if it was a metal worm gear :)
I replaced my worm gear but that still didn't fix the problem. Does anyone know what the next step would be? WHen I open the chain oil cover I see bubbles. I'm not sure if that is an indicator of anything. Thanks,
I’m checking out this thread and I know you comment is a year old and you’ve fixed you issue by now. I just wanted to offer this. There is a little plug in the end of your oil pump that blows out sometimes. It’s right beside the muffler. Hope you fixed it.
What is the name and where does the lil pin with the gear on top and the hole drilled threw the bottom go?. I tore mine apart and it was just lyin in there not attached to anything. No videos I could find shows anything about it.
