Today I changed my other half’s and the handbrake cable which was replaced less than a year ago, feels stretched… After replacing the brakes / shoes / drums, we followed the bleeding process but for some reason the rear passenger side, has air escaping and I think the piston or hydraulic thing may have leaked. Does anyone know a remedy? I am having to borrow another car to drive with tonight for work, new front disc / pads but the rear was done today and it’s a little scary as the braking distance is far too much.

Hello, I changed my pads today. Now my handbrake is weaker. Before pad change, handbrake was tight on 4-5 clicks and now I have to put it on 7-8 clicks to brake the car. Is common or I did some mistake?

Have you followed the bleeding type procedure? Whilst stationary doing the main brake a number of times, followed by the handbrake a number of times. Do this again and see if it helps. It could be that the handbrake cable has become slack, maybe the cable due to replacing the rear shoes has caused it a little extra slack. We had our cables replaced but wished we did it ourselves as the mechanics we used charged far more than we expected.
