Thanks for the video. Ironically the hardest part is taking off all the plastic junk. Nice job man, I remember my old '78 chev pickup. The thermostat was much easier than this job. Once again, great video.

OK, nice video. I'm gonna attempt to put this part in the truck and see what comes about. I will come back on there and let you know what the result is. But I appreciate your video very helpful and it's very. Understanding as easy as possible so I thank you and I will let No what happens

Thanks so much for asking that question mike. My old one had an o ring around the tstat i got my new one and didn't come with an o ring i body one that it says fits mine but goes under the stat inside the housing and then you put the tstat in and lock it down. Ring is a little thick maybe i should take it out and put in the stat and gasket only

Good video...as I was watching you reassemble the thermostat housing I was yelling at the screen to put that bottom bolt in first..lol..but anyhow looks like you've been losing coolant slowly from that back 3/4 quick connect ..most people change the whole housing assy because they had a bad run where the pipes would separate. I'm sure it helps with camera angles but you don't have to remove airbox just the tube between it and throttle body.

Nice job, thanks! If it does end up leaking somewhere, I've had the waterpump shaft seal leak issue 2 times (about every 80-100k miles on new parts). It is a slow leak and difficult for me to detect as it only leaks at certain temps, loads rpms. Thanks again.
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 3 года назад
That is very true , I had a similar issue on a different car. Had to wind up using coolamt dye to track it down. But it was just like you said certain times, conditions etc. Thank you for sharing.

I got Engine Hot A/C Off warning and indoor temp gauge would cause that warning after about 10 minutes. Engine never FELT to hot, but changing thermostat now. Everything looking exactly the same with where the coolant is leaking out, but thermostat LOOKS fine. No DISTORTION as you say, that black rubber liner looks fine, not melted.

Pretty good video until you decided to use Bosch spark plugs. I wouldn't use those things for paper weights.

My new thermostat came with a new gasket but it looks like cardboard. Should I use it or buy the one you bought?

I have a 2012 and last night while driving the temp gauge shot up and warnings came on A/C off, power reduced, turn engine off. Turned it off and opened the hood, smoke came out, and engine sounded like it was still running for a few minutes after I had turned the truck off. Checked the coolant expansion jug and it was to the full line. Tried putting water in radiator cap, made it further down the road, but then it happened again. Nothing feels hot under the hood, heat is not working, and it keeps "overheating". Not sure if its just a stuck temp gauge or if there is an actual leak. When looking under the truck there are a few drops, but not much. When looking under the hood, I can see a couple small puddles that are sitting on top of either the water pump, or thermostat housing (have no idea which I'm looking at). So scared to go to a mechanic because I have $80 to my name lol. Trying to figure it out myself as best I can. Thanks.

Was the coolant low ? Best case scenario the thermostat may be plugged , however not having heat is a tell . Worse case is compression gases or bad headgasket. Maybe start with a thrrmostat and work out the air before going any further. These engines cannot take a lot of overheating . When safely out of the road shut it down fast , keep it topped off with coolant . The heater should be working , unless it has trapped air or compression gas in the system. If it was working before anyways and not clogged. Hope this can help.

Great video Did you drain the Radiator fluid from underneath before starting? Other vids show that as first step but if it's not necesary l'd rather skip it
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 11 месяцев назад
No I just let it drain from the housing.with a pan below. I find a lot of times even with the coolant drained completely , the coolant will still pour out from the housing . Basically it just saves a step , but I have done it both ways. Thank you for the great question.

@@s33therfan Thanks for answering. I completed the job on my 2014 Acadia and thanks to your video it went well and I'm back on the road! I did bleed the air out of the cooling system when I added coolant to the radiator via the cap. Thanks again for posting.

@s33therfan

If the temperatute is fine it may be a thermostat issue or a temperature sensor issue. I would start there. If the temp guage runs on the cold side its almost always the thermostat. If it is running hot it could be the temp sensor or there may be an actual overheating issue. Thank you for the feedback.

Did it matter that the old thermostat had a o ring and new one did not. I just got mine and no o ring

I don't think is matters as long as it has the gasket. Not sure why they put both , but I noticed that as well. Thanks for watching.
