I did this, using this video almost 2 years ago. Worked perfectly. Thanks for the video guys! Also I love how Toyota made almost everything in this car 10mm
I just replaced the gasket on our 2005 Camry. Fairly easy, except the wiring harness on the driver's side of the cover. Also, the ventilation hose on that end was hardened & cracked, so I replaced that too.
Just got done with this on my 2004 toyota Camry thanks to your help. You have also walked me through on my 2003 toyota 4runner front and rear brake and rotors. Amazing content and great channel!
Did this today. Was really straightforward especially with expert guidance from this vid. The only thing i did do was crack the hoses for the crankcase ventilation. They needed replacing anyway so was probably a good thing. Thanks again.
Great video. Wish I knew a local mechanic that would do this just as you did- correctly, quickly- and for a fair price. I don’t have the tools to attempt this myself.
I would use a little bit of 3M Black Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive for Autos, applying some in the channel in the valve cover where the gasket fits into. That way, it won't flop out when turning the cover over and you reinstall it over the engine. There's an increased chance of the gasket twisting or kinking without you knowing it, potentially making the oil leak worse off than prior to replacement. The RTV where the video instructs is definitely a good idea though.
@@bryancertantes7198 : It won't matter because all the 3m does is hold the gasket in so it won't fall out. Once the cover is replace the 3m weatherstrip has done it's job.
Thanks for your excellent videos. Do you think it would be OK to use a few dabs of rtv or gasket sealer to hold the gasket in place as I reinstall cover?
do we still need any specific tool for replacing spark plugs when you open VALVE gasket.. ? i have damged valve gasket but i wans to change spark plugs too as my car is too old..
Might want to hold the harnesses at both ends back out of the way with cords or bungies to facilitate a straight down angle of the cover over the two studs (or have someone hold them out of the way).
Valve cover vs. Rocker cover. Same thing? I am here in New Zealand and looking to do this myself. Looks like a possible job for a beginner-novice? Excellent video. Nice timing and cadence.
As for cleaning the spark plug tubes. I spray Carb cleaner in the tubes without removing the spark plugs, and then I use a turkey baster to suck out all the oil that leaked into the tubes. That way when you do remove the plugs the pure oil will not go into the pistons and may damage some of the emission components.

on the high side 180.00 USD while your having this done if the spark plugs are due for a change do it now this will save on labor as the plastic cover and coils have to removed anyway to change the gasket. Talk to your mechanic about it.
Tnx very well done! Question- Isn’t it needed to place RTV all around the gasket upon replacement? What kind of liquid did u use to clean the valve cover, was it gasoline?
hi thank you for this video have a 2003 Toyota Camry and the hose in 1:05 came off the car engine light was flashing and car was pup pup lol stalling i didn't know exactly where the hose belong then i watched your video what's the name off that hose and what tools do i need to remove cover please include clips and wrench please thanks
Engine w o with out the oil burning issues on some yrs can still give u 300-400k what an engine plenty of power 2. Hard to kill unless u don’t keep an eye on the oil level if u have a leak etc
I need to do this exact service on my 2007 Camry. Can someone please specify the exact RTV I should use (there are so many kinds to choose from)...Just need a small amount as I am DIY.
