Thank you for your video tutorial. You are the only one who showed me how to replace my Cafe GE refrigerator water filter. The other videos I watched only show how to do it in other GE models.
Excellent explanation, very helpful! My filter expired just about when you posted this video, so it was also well timed and a godsend. My filter was seized, and I was surprised how much force I needed to extract it. I appreciated how your video anticipated not only seized filters but also the unintuitive steps to reset the filter indicator. The only comment I would add is that my instructions recommended purging the filter for 2 gallons rather than just 1 gallon. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
OMG!! Thank you so much!! You had the BEST and EASIEST explanation. I was so frustrated not being able to change out my filter. So glad to have come across ur video😊😊😊
I ordered filters directly from GE(xwfe). They emailed me an installation video. Problem is it wasn’t even close to my model. Looks like GE should be using your video instead ! Well done and thank you. Jim C.
Thank you for this video🙏🏻 perfectly explained and thanks for the demonstration as well! We have a Brand new GE cafe model fridge and it has this same filter. I would have never been able to figure out how to change filter out and reset it either if it wasn’t for your video. Many thanks!!🙏🏻😀
Thank you! You are the only person that is showing my fridge. I just had back surgery so I have no strength.( No help around here) I am trying to install it but it’s not working! ( I have done it for over a year so I don’t know what’s wrong. No water comes out.😢
Thank you for this video! I was so frustrated trying to clear the water filter warning lights. No where in the XWFE water filter cartridge instructions did it mention holding down the filter indicator light for 3 seconds to reset the warning light! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Thank you for this video. Very informative and helpful. Especially the part about dumping the water from the new filter out. I wouldn't have known how much
You have done an excellent job explaining how to remove and replace this filter. I did notice that some of these filters have chips. How do I know if I need a filter with a chip? We've had the refrigerator about 2 months
It is difficult for me to follow written instructions. I am visual so this explanation was so perfect for me. Easy to understand and follow his instructions.
Great video! Now that I’ve changed the filter and reset the expired filter indicator light, my water won’t dispense. I’ve not had this problem before. Any thoughts?
You should be hired by GE. None of the other videos were helpful because they were not showing my refrigerator! Thank you. I will try again in the morning. ( I have to renew the warranty.$600. That will be a very expensive price for the geek squad to show up!)
Thank you for the instructions ! We changed the filter and water now comes out warm. It’s been 24+ hours since the filter was replaced .. any idea what this is happening ?
We replaced the filter this morning and I hit the filter time has expired instead of the other one you should. now we do not get the ounces on the screen. Do you have any idea what I can do to fix this?
Just did the filter replacement with a genuine GE XWFE filter but am getting an "error" message on the filter status. Tried removing and reinstalling but still get the same message and no water flow in fridge or ice maker. Any suggestions?
My icemaker is currently full from the old filter as I don’t use much ice so if I purge through a bunch of water, I should be safe with new ice, correct?
Correct. As long as you cycle a gallon of water through the new filter before it adds any ice to the ice bin you're fine. Thank you for supporting my channel!
Very strange. This might sound obvious but make sure you didn't shut off the function to the water dispenser when resetting your "change filter" indicator lamp.
You can usually find them on eBay or Mercari. As a reminder, I am not affiliated nor do I endorse either of those websites in any capacity what so ever. If you do purchase a filter from them, you will be doing so at your own risk. Thank you for supporting my channel!
Can someone please tell me why I get an error? Followed this to the letter and I’m gettin an error. This filter IS NOT easy to change and it doesn’t turn once it’s in AT ALL. Where am I going wrong?
Unfortunately, I also struggled with the filter problem for days before I found the solution! GE solved it with a chip, so that only its own filters can be used, it cannot be replaced with a filter from another party, only the one in which the chip was installed! (rough) So the XWFE types have a chip, while the XWF type does not! The only solution is to buy a GE chipped filter, which unfortunately costs approx. $50! The aftermarket, but replaceable XWF type is not good, because it does not have a chip!
In 10,997 views that's the first complaint I've received about the background track 😂 I'm sorry you didn't like it but I hope you found the video useful! Thank you very much for supporting my channel. Be healthy and well!
I have the exact same refrigerator. The "E" in "XWFE" is for "Extortion". There is no other reason for the E except for scamming the consumer. I hope GE gets a class action lawsuit for this nonsense. Check out the price of a XWF aftermarket filter. Same filter with no RF tag on it. GE is sticking it to us.
