Hi Uncle Jr, Thank you very much for your help, I wanted to replace my jalousie window crank for long time, but I couldn't find matching bar, after I watch your RU-vid & I bought one you mentioned in the video. Now I have nice and new crank and I didn't want to hire pro for this kind small job, so I did it myself. Thank you again.
Thank you so much! I just watched and I appreciate all your very detailed instructions. I am not very mechanical or construction savvy and I have these windows in my vintage travel trailer and I need alot of the details that you showed here. I had to chuckle at your video bomber who peeked in to listen and give his thumbs up 😊
Thank you so much for your support! If Uncle can do it , so can you Eztravels9809. As long as you try your best, you should always be Proud. Stay Happy and Healthy! Aloha! Uncle.
This was an awesome video and I now understand that I can fix these old cranks. I got a replacement quote from a glass company here in Honolulu for $7600!!!
Wow that's some expensive quotes! Yes , just try and fix it yourself. If you need more advice on a project or repair, just let Uncle know and I will be glad to make a video. Thank you! Aloha, Uncle Jr
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Sorry for the late reply. Uncle is not to tech savvy . and sometimes Uncle does not get my notifications or not looking in the right area, Uncle gotta fix my problem now! Hahaha. Stay safe and healthy. Aloha , Uncle.
Omg ! I remember you from watching your videos! Love your channel and how you speak so well! Wish Uncle had your voice! Lol... Sorry for the delay in response. Im not to tech savvy and did not see your comment. I guess I need to check regularly on each videos for any comments. Thank you and Aloha! Uncle Jr. your videos are super clear and nice!
Thank you Uncle!!! After watching your video I was able to change the crank on my window. Then I realized that it wasn’t the crank causing the issue! It was that the frame was stuck with rust. After about 5 sprays of WD40 and lots of gentle pulling it popped open! Your instructions were clear and SO helpful. Mahalo! ❤😊
So great to know your determination and patience with the WD 40. It does work! Most of all how smart you were to recognize the actual problem. Good Job Amy! You can work for me now. Lol … Aloha!
Thank you so much !! Sorry for the delay in reply. Uncle has been confused on how to know and find my comments on my channel, So funny cause Uncle can fix things but when it comes to my own page, I have a hard time navigating . Lol Uncle son sorry again for the late response.
Uncle, I use WD-40 lithium to loosen up the jalousie's brackets instead of WD-40. Cost a little more but worth it for keeping the brackets lubricated and operating for a longer period of time. So glad to have found your RU-vid channel. Looking forward to learning more how to dos from you. Much Mahalos, Uncle!
Wow your comments just put a big smile on Uncle! So glad Uncle can be of help to someone like you. If broken, just fix'um! Thank you for watching my videos. Aloha ! Uncle Jr.
Uncle does a lot of security screen door installations. I don’t have one scheduled yet , but when I do I’ll post it. In the mean time if you have a question about installation, lmk and I’ll help you the best I can. Best advice I can give tho, is to make sure you use the bolts that comes with the door. That’s why there called security bolts. I hate when installers use standard bolts to install. They just are afraid to use them with the special install tool that comes with it. Aloha and Thank you for your question and viewing my video!
Great video. It was clear and to the point. After changing the handle, the windows don't open as wide as they should. Any thoughts? Watching your video reminded me of my college days at Chaminade. Aloha.
So sorry for the late reply. When the jalousie does not open all the way, your crank arm is either to short or long. Check the distance when it stops opening and look at the arm and check the end point when it stops when opening. Hope I explained that right. Aloha !
Unko, question, is it possible to fix just the crank itself? That crank (the one you twist to open & close the window) came off of the whole mechanism. Is it possible to put it back on or gotta change the whole thing?
OMG Uncle sooo sorry for the late reply. I did not see your comment till now. Sorry! But yes if that handle comes off the crank body, you need to replace the whole thing. Unless you still have the set screw that's on the handle. Look on the side of the round part of the handle and there should be a small hole,. That is where the set screw should be. Loosen the screw and put it back on the crank body and then tighten the screw. GoodLuck!
Thanks for the video Uncle! Now I can try fix some of the old windows at home. Question - what spray did you use? And ... do you know where to find glass jalousies to replace broken or cracked ones?
Hi Lexe! Uncle likes to use WD40 for lubricant and loosen the brackets, but you can use any multipurpose spray lubricant of your choice. Also you can purchase the glass jalousie at any hardware store. Uncle goes to City Mill tho, to buy my jalousie . I am so glad you try to do diy yourself! I’m so proud of you! No get intimidated to fix things. If you have a fixer upper problem, Uncle always here to give you tips ! Much Mahalo for your support! Aloha, Uncle Jr.
Aloha Uncle! I need to remove my jalousie crank operator. But the screw that attaches the crank arm to the track (the screw that has a washer) is completely rusted shut. How can I get that screw out without ruining the track?
Hi Kim, that's the one thing that I hate when it happens. First, spray wd40 and let sit for 5 min. Then remove the 4 screws that is holding the crank operator. Grab the crank and wiggle it up and down and watch that screw until you see it move. Now if you did not round out the screw head and still can use a Phillips screwdriver, try and loosen it. But before you do that, you must turn the screw to tighten and then turn the screw driver to loosen. Doing this will free the screw from the rust. Then go the other way to remove. If all else fails, next thing that would work, would be to drill the screw head off. Uncle wish I was there to help you! lmk what happens. Aloha!
Hi Suzan, check to make sure the crank arm is connected to the body of the crank. If it is, than the crank or operator needs to be replaced. Hope that helps. Thank you so much for viewing my channel. Aloha and good luck !
