How to replace your smoke alarm batteries 

This video was the only one that showed me what to do with the red little spring-loaded strip. Once I got that properly positioned I could very easily put the alarm back into proper position. Thanks a bunch!!!!!!

0:30 Most informative part of the video for me right here. Showed me the location of the manufacture date of a Duracell battery. Tried to replace the battery only to get a constant high-pitched squealing from the alarm. Realized after this video that I was trying to install a battery manufactured in 2016, swapped it for a 2020 and boom! No more squeaking, fully operational.

Thank you so much for this. I have watched four other you tubes on this topic. You are the only one who said that there may be a small screw that could keep you from turning the top to take it off. The beeping is gone and I will sleep well tonight!!

Zero help on how to remove the cover. After 30 mins still can't get it off

I'm a senior and have always been handy. these are the worst to change with one hand, I tried to twist it like shown in the video, and it doesn't work and the writing is the same as the unit, so forget trying to read it for it's facing the opposite way. A poor design, and i'm not paying someone 50 dollars or more to change the battery. I'm close to ripping it off the fking ceiling

Hey guys, for the ones with the electronic connection in addition to the battery, squeeze the plastic connecton on the sides. it takes a little pretty but it should some off.

Your products are frustrating. Standing here middle of the night and cannot get ac connector off due to your genius connector!

Mine looks exactly like this but has wires attached to it so it hangs. Do I disconnect those (and if so how) and reconnect after swapping the battery (and if so how)

Thank you. I had difficulty removing the smoke alarm from the plate. You taught how to lock the unit in place by lining up the arrows (or diagonal lines), I did the opposite by turning the alarm towards the lines. Worked. dah

Be careful about the that final testing step. The beep almost broke my ear. May sure the alarm is not facing you when you press the test button!

What are the spring loaded "flipper" levers that are under the battery in smoke detectors???

Mine has a plate piece in the back that won't allow the battery compartment to open, what a bad experience!!!!

Can anyone help? I don't have this specific smoke alarm, but I have one witg a red button on the outside, white case that flicks open...andnits chirping...but online is saying I need to turn the mains off before taking the battery out?? Is this true? The chirping is driving me mad 😭😭😭

Have to get small pliers to detach the old battery from the cover.

Got it off fine, pried open the battery componenet, did the red lever now I can't--for the life of me get it to screw back on--it is half attached--I can't see the arrows---it works ---just is half screwed on---and for now that will do---some coloured dots to show where to line up would help---I might try to do that tonight---off to work--- but at least home has a working detector! Next time I will buy one where the battery is on the front, so I don't have to unscrew anything!!! I hope you will consider that on your next design--bad enough being a senior --let enough having to get on a ladder and mess with this convoluted design! Pop a button, pop out battery DONE----

On the back of mine is this little round red button. What is this for ? Couldn't find any info on it... Should it be pushed down ?

hi i replaced and tested the new battery as you showed here. now my alarm has a constantly ON green button and blinking red button. does it have to blink red??? it's not beeping!!!

I finally was able to get my fire alarm down from the ceiling, but now that I’ve opened the door to exchange the battery, there’s like a red “flag” 🚩 that’s sticking out of the battery compartment blocking me from shutting the door, how do I properly shut it?

Overly complicated smoke alarm for no reason...

This video doesn't look like my product.. What a stupid company is this!

I HATE IT!!! I'm going NUTS trying to sleep and not stab myself to death. My detector has the annoying constant "low battery" female voice alert that makes me just want to kill myself. I can't sleep. l can't switch it. my apartment is new with new appliances, batteries, etc., and I just can't. Extremely frustrating and poorly executed products. I HATE IT!!!
