I blacked out earlier today in a pool, swimming. I convulsed briefly while my brother held me out of the water (who intuitively did every thing you just explained!). I was really scared, but knowing this is fairly common is a relief. It was my first time. Thank you for your videos and your immense dedication! Happy 2019!
Man that "I'm Okay!" Clip of yours was hilarious! And what a nice video. I thought that when you black out underwater by hypoxia, you just inhale water like instantly. Thanks for all these information and keep it up!
Adam, I'm a new diver and no one has actually explained this as well as you have. I've done scuba, but trying to venture out into free diving. This video is so helpful.
damn, I am so sorry for your loss! The issue is many spearos do it alone or they will not do their hobby as often if they always waited for a partner, which a dice once has to roll and the bad stuff happens only once. I am going spearfishing next week for first time and I am lookin bad for a partner now. It can truly sadly mean life or death when something bad happens out there, and you have no backup.
I love the way you presented this video in such a... “lighthearted” manner? If that makes sense. What I mean is that you showed the scenes where the diver woke up and started smiling and laughing, and described the revival process as “bringing the body somewhere that it feels safe enough to wake up”. Although blackouts are undoubtedly capable of hospitalizing people, the most important thing to do in this situation and in freediving in general is to _stay calm_ , and you did a great job of showing that :) Thank you💕
Dear Adam. I saw your video from Iran. It was very informative. Thank you for generously giving this training for the diving lovers. Hope you publish more and more.🙏🌷
Well done Adam. Another great video. As you may have noticed, I found your channel a few days ago. I have since watched many of your posts and really enjoyed them all. Thanks! ✌🏼
Thank you ! You’ve been helping me since i started watching ur channel ! I live in Egypt, having red sea I taught myself swimming, free diving and now going up to 25 meters omw And i still remember the first time i dove and thought that i lost my ears XD then i started searching! Haha and knew what to do But after watching u i can dive more with a more relaxed state + having too much info searching alone would take more time to know ! And you videos are a very good trigger for me to start going for free diving courses Thanks again :))
I love Egypt and the Red Sea. We dived there many times and the sea really beautiful and fragile. Help to save it from all the plastic garbage being thrown from the shores and ships
No diving after a blackout for a day and half!! Aww man. But Natalia blacked out 3 times and then on her 4th attempt, she broke the world record! (I'm joking of course...) Good info as usual.
Receptors under our eyes and above our lips, what? So cool! Now it makes sense why blowing on the eyes is procedure, I thought you were supposed to smack them around, haha. Thank you, Adam :)
Adam, just subscribed after finding your channel, been freediving for a couple of years now and your videos are the exactly the type of great information that myself and, I'm sure, other freedivers are looking for, and from a very reputable source. My question is: how often can we expect a new video to come out? Thanks, bud!
EasyToRemembur hey! Thank you! I plan to post a new video every week sometimes I'll post more often and sometimes, when I'm busy at competitions, I won't post as often :)
The first freediving rescue instruction i have seen on YT so far. Is it right to put it on public? In Scuba for example you should take a special rescue course. That is ease to make mistakes if you do not have an experience or an instructor around to correct one. And this is a matter of life.
I believe it's better for as many people as possible to know the technique and so far from my own research the more people know about this kind of stuff the more people take courses so videos like this steer more people to take courses rather than them just watching the video and feeling like they know it all
Holger Fullriede thanks Holger. Absolutely I didn't mention that part because I wanted to keep the video fairly simple. I will release an advanced rescue video soon that will cover this :)
Very clear reminder, thx a lot. Have you ever seen a blacked out diver trying to breath again through your mouth while underwater? I've been taught to do as well, but I don't see very well how that is useful.
I've been told that the blacked out diver might wake up as you're grabing him/her and taking him/her to the surface. But I don't know how that is relevant. Thanks for your answer anyway, interesting to have your experience on that.
Hi Adam here is an off topic question for you, I'm both an avid snorkeler and scuba watch collector, just curious what is that watch you are wearing? Thanks
Great video bro ! Unfortunately I have no choice but to dive alone . I have no friends or family that's into free diving . most of the people I know can barely swim . but in there defense being from Pennsylvania swimming and diving not a big part of there lives .
I used to do Freediving on my own (spearfishing actually) for the same reasons. And only later I understood how dangerous it is. I was playing with fire and likely still alive...My advice to you - find the buddy. Use social media, might be Facebook, make a post that you are looking for another Freediver, ask your friends to repost it...something like that...But don't free dive alone. Where are from? Are you sure there is no freedive/dive school around?
Hey Jay, yeah it's a tough position to be in. I really do recommend that you find someone to dive with. Social media is great to connect with people and though there may not be a huge freediving community in Pennsylvania I think you'll easily be able to find someone to give it a go with you :)
loved it, thank you very much Adam, I was wondering about how to get in touch with you mate, as i was remember you said you were going to do a group session next year.
Adam, I just experienced my first blackout while freedive spearfishing, I was ascending from 80 ft and think I ascended a little too quick and lost consciousness after surfacing, Luckily my dive buddy was a few feet away from me and responded immediately, I was only out for about 3 seconds before coming too and stopped diving the rest of the day. Any advice for my next time going out as far as limitations on depth or time? How should one resume freediving after a blackout? Thanks!!
Very nice and clear instructions . I would be very glad if you can answer my following question:) Will I wake up by myself if I got blackout while taking no limit breathe holding excises on bed with a nose clip? Thank you!
I have a quick question, you mentioned if the diver has been in a black out for an extended amount of time we use the extreme measure and do rescue breath. In this scenario do we skip BTT altogether and go straight to rescue breath?
