Thanks for the tutorial, but this makes me furious with GE. This is absolutely the most asinine reset method in any light, and I truly cannot imagine how ANY group of human beings could design this light without realizing that. Plus, none of the lights actually worked even after trying to reset.
Update: Start by turning the bulb OFF at the switch. Turn the bulb ON for 1 second, then OFF for 1 second. Do this 5 times. Once the bulb flashes, the bulb has been reset.
OK I have a question, are u the voice over for ge 😉 because that was excellent. Unfortunately my bulb didn't flash and it's up to date on firmware so I'm out of luck but Great video 💚
Aw thank you for the wonderful comment! I try to do videos that help people with everyday life! I'm really glad that it worked for you, just a note they did come out with a new direct connect bulb as well that's much easier, but I definitely wouldn't throw out the lights that we already have cuz they still work just fine, just a really funny reset process..
Honestly aside from the insane reset process, the lights are fantastic I love being able to just shut them off from wherever I am even if I'm not home!
Now that there’s a new name for the app my lights just decided to be normal but over priced lights. Can’t connect to them at all and the actual company has done absolutely nothing to help. If this doesn’t work then I’m just gonna bust them and go to a different brand. Edit: Turns out a dude I’ve never talked to who just uploaded a video helped me more in 2 minutes than the actual company did in 2 weeks.
Hi thanks for the video but my bulb disconnected again ,so i did all the steps it bulb flashed on and off but it would not show up im my google home soi webt to the cync Ge and it said no bulb found
Okay, if it flashed on and off then it's definitely reset, in your Google home app I would try to of course delete the light completely out of it, you may want to try deleting the room in general and just make another room section in the app and then try to hit add device, but with c by GE it's usually pretty easy to reconnect it in the app once it's been reset, if that doesn't work I would try doing the reset process one more time I know it's a pain LOL
Sure, first do you have the Google home app downloaded on your smartphone or your tablet? Once you're in that you'll have to go to the little plus sign in the upper corner, also the app May automatically detect the light, it will run a scan,"make sure your phone's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is set up and on", if the light doesn't respond, you'll have to do the reset process like this video, however it's important to note that new lights have been distributed called the direct connect bulbs, in that case you would have to download the "Cync" app and install it through that and then your Google home will link with that or whatever smart device you're using. Alexa is a little bit different. But either way you have to use Cync to link up with the new bulbs
It’s amazing GE thought this was a good way to reset. Why not just have a micro reset button you hold down on the bulb?? Edit: I have 10 of these bulbs in my house and have gone through 3 different ways to reset. I have 2 bulbs that just refuse to reset. I’ve wasted hours on trying to get these to work properly all because GE wants to troll us by having us jump through ridiculous hoops.
@@ITsLifePOSITIVE What's crazy is, I'm a director of a software engineering department at a large tech company. I would NEVER let a product designer push something like this on our team to implement, there are at least 3 better ways to do this that I can think of off the top of my head. It's AMAZING that a product design like this ever made it past the initial prototyping phase let alone a QA process.
@@cardbored_ That’s awesome, it sounds like an awesome profession that you have, yeah I still to this day cannot believe that this light was designed this way, You should see all the comments I’m getting about people saying they feel like they’re a fool as they’re turning the light off and on for so long, and then all of a sudden it resets, everybody says that they thought my video was a joke lol!! I always say sadly it’s true this is really how you reset this device lol
@@ITsLifePOSITIVE Thanks man, nice work putting a video together to help people, it seems to work for most people so I'm sure it's been really helpful aside from seeming like a joke to the fault of GE lol
If it's blinking then it's in reset mode, so you're going to have to open your Google home app and click the plus sign to add a device and just re add and rename it , that's most likely what's happening, or use c by ge "cync" app. I would add the device in the app first and then connect the works with Google tab and they should work simultaneously
I have smart ce home plugs they disconnected I've tried everything to reconnect finally i did they even show up in my google home app problem is nothing i plug in turns on or off despite the clicking the plug makes can you help me please?
The plugs are a little bit more of a pain in the butt, if you haven't already done so I would delete them out of the app completely, and then try to reconnect the device, but the plugs usually use a separate app that you have to relink with the Google home app I don't remember seeing smart receptacles that are right from Google, for instance I use Energizer smart plugs, I connect them through that app and then I select the works with Google section and connect Energizer smart with Google.
You know what you're so right things are just so smart that they're stupid, and honestly I feel like they create more of a headache whatever happened to just go in a flick in a switch haven't we got so lazy?!?
Doesn't work on my bulbs. I tried both the 5x 8sec on, 2sec off method and the other strange 2 on, 2 off, then 8 on and 2 off. Even c but ge didn't know how to help. Ugh
So some of the newer firmware and software, require only on off sequence three times, typically just on off on off on off, and then you'll start to see it blinking, these lights are extremely difficult and honestly pointless in their reset process and how often you do have to actually reset them is ridiculous, I hope you can figure it out I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble...
Hmmm.. That's interesting I would clear the catch and storage of the app by holding your finger over the app, selecting the settings and then clear storage and catch and restart the app
The tutorial was fine. The light bulb flashed after the reset was properly done however the light bulb is still not connecting. G.E sucks. Don't waste your money on these bulbs and just get the regular energy saver bulbs. It'll save you the frustration after it stops responding
It's true, these lights are just a pain in the butt, pretty much all smart technology sucks, it's neat having my entire house be controlled by my voice but honestly it's proven to cause more headache than good and it's made me super lazy lol considering I don't even have to move a finger and I can control every single device and light and TV in my home
The bulbs connect to the Google home app via bluetooth/ WiFi, download the Google home app on any one of your smart devices, click the little plus sign up in the upper right hand corner it'll scan for any lights in your home, it'll prompt you step by step on how to program them.
Hmm.. so if the lights not turning on at all then there's no power going to it or there's an issue with the light completely... Sounds to me like there's no power to the light at all, sorry you're having so many issues with it..
Thanks for the help dude. But honestly what a stupid fucking way to reset something. Like you’d think maybe flip the switch 5 times really fast or something would be more convenient but hey…what do I know lol
I think the newer lights have a new reset method, I believe it's just on off three times now, but I'm not 100% sure I'm going to look into this!! AND I WILL POST A FOLLOW-UP I'M SORRY YOU'RE ALL HAVING TROUBLE.... 🙁 BUT REST ASSURED KYLE HERE AT LIFE+ WILL BE COMING TO THE RESCUE 😁
