Hi! Thank you for your comment. In general, butt joints can be effective on thinner bands via manipulation of the voltage/time of the laser beam pulse to ensure proper weld depth. While this process is effective and overall more efficient for thinner bands, we do recommend a v-cut and wire build up method for the most foundationally sound weld on thicker bands. Would you be interested in seeing a separate video on this method for thicker band applications?
Excellent video and close-up work. Also interesting that the rings joint was a 'flat butt' joint, where most laser welders have been advised to file a 'V' shape at the joint in the shank and build the weld up from the bottom of the vee. Doing this to alleviate any air pockets or porosity. Have we all been doing it wrong?

Thanks for your reply and explanation. I do believe that it would be beneficial to the less experienced laser welding jewellers if you did produce a video explaining the additional strengths and methods of a v-cut on thicker bands. As laser welding for jewellers is having a rapid growth, any skills or technics would be a benefit to all, and potential additional sales of your machines for you too.@@StullerInc
