On most watch bands there are arrows located on the inside of the band indicating in which direction the pin is to be removed. When reassembling replace the pin in the opposite direction of the arrow with the "split" portion of the pin going in last as this video shows . Also if a link does not have an arrow then that pin and link is to be considered non-adjustable.

Worked like a champ! I would try not to squeeze more than you have to with the pliers, so that you don't flatten the wider part of the pin that keeps it in the hole. One way is to look closely at the pin and put the pliers on the areas where you see the split, that way it won't flatten the keeper. I watched your video before trying it on my own and it helped to see what to do first. Thanks for posting,

Yous said any hammer would be sufficient. So I took your advice and now every watch I own is smashed into oblivion!! Good vid. The great thing about it is that Nils makes a point that the split side of the pin goes in last. Very important piece of instruction missing from some other vids I watched prior to finding this one. Thanks, Nils. I used an opened paper clip instead of the push pin and did it on a wooden counter. Did this on my $400 Victorinox, but would def not do this on a 3K TG as someone asked here. Not everyone is handy, so why risk finding out that you're not. I put a piece of paper towel between hammer and pin when I hammered the pin back in to prevent scuffing. Then I used the paper clip to countersink the pin just a tad so it won't work its way back out after wearing the watch for a while. I think that blue tool, while it doesn't look all that convenient, is great when you want to make sure you don't scuff up your watch band with a missed hammer blow.

There should be holes on both sides of the link.....if you can't get the pin out by using one hole, use the hole in the other side of the link. These pins are not just a smooth piece of metal.....one end has a bit of a flare to it, so when linking back up be sure the flared end goes into hole first. This takes patience, but it's worth the effort....what's worse than a watch that flops around on your wrist!

Wow thank you to show us this method!! I've just adjusted my watch and it looks great! No damage at all! But instead of the screwdriver, I've used a thumb tack and that works just as well. :)

Thanks so much. At the mall they charge 15.00 to adjust...

Considering that is a minute's labor at most, that is 900+ an hour... Fucking hell! ... I'd probably charge $5 because people would pay it, I'm such a scumbag :)

Focused Racoon you’re not smashing it hard enough Trick is to hit it hard enough where the thumbtack pierces through the wood block and reaches the depth of hell

Multiple places in the mall were trying to charge me $20-$30 to adjust my strap, and the snobby Jewelers place that does it for free seems to be annoyed after you show up more than 2 times trying to dial in a perfect fit, so learning to do it myself is a huge win, thanks 😊

Thanks, MC. If you still want to donate, just click the small "i" in the top right corner and then click the link that says "Support Nils Rasmusson". Awesome 👏 easy peasy thank you I’m getting ready to try it on 2 new watches now.. I used the lid off of a Rubbermaid pitcher. Turn the lid upside down and u have the 2 slots to lay the watch across to be able to push the pins out. I used this on a Michael Korrs watch band n couldn’t believe how easy it was but that was a few years ago so I was glad to find this easy video u have given us . Thanks 🙏😊

Thanks. I ended up using a sweater, small husky ratchet for hammer, my woman's earring, and a pocket knife (for the first one). After that, I actually used to existing pins (hammered in mid-air), and one whack with the wrench and bam! I was on a roll. Thanks for the vid. Had to use the sweater because it was 1am!
