This is a short video that shows you how to respond to I am not interested when getting a sales objection. The not interested objection can be difficult to determine how to respond when the prospect says I do not want to buy what you sell. We provide tips for that in this video.

Dude I like the approach that you take to overcoming the "I'm not interest objection". Your redirect focuses on the other person's needs- and is low pressure. Very few people are going to turn down an opportunity to talk about themselves.

Thank you! I’m new to my cold calling job and i’ve been making changes to my script seeing what keeps people on the phone the longr. Can’t even count how many times people have said that they’re not interested and hang up.

I would love to get some of your feed back on strategies for selling health care. I just started selling Medicare advantage plans and have been struggling quite a bit. Any help you or anyone you know can offer would be appreciated.

I need help with this for my job..I sell insurance similar to American Home Shield and get this all the time..my come back is always..that's fine, there's no deductible, up front costs and you can cancel at any time as your not locked into any contract..is this an ok rebuttal?

If you understand, then why continue in with the pitch? Direct tv reps do this shit all the time. I say I’m not interested and they keep pushing. I got fed up, rated them 1 star and blocked their number.

You continue because if you comply (give up) every time you get an objection, your sales will be lower than if you try to continue. Our recommendation is to try to keep a conversation going 2 or 3 times when first receiving a prospect objection and then start to comply after that. We definitely agree that never giving in when the prospect is objecting will damage rapport and only lead to the sales person wasting valuable time and the prospect getting annoyed. I have been there with annoying salespeople as well.

Maybe you shouldn't give up so easy. This works for me all the time to keep calls going. And if you watched the video, the strategy is not to turn a "no" into a "yes". It is to get around the "no" and keep the call going. Seems like you might be commenting on videos without fully watching or understanding them.

Let me stop you right there for a moment. See I sell vacation packages in a call center for a time share company. Now yes whenever someone tells me they are not interested right from the get go I always junp into discovery questions. But however with each response they give to my discovery questions they always end with "but I'm not interested." It gets to the point where they keep saying they are not interested and hang up. Or you will be in the middle of a sentence pitching to them and they hang up. So although asking discovery questions is a good way to stop them in their tracks when a person says not interested it does not seem to keep them going for long. In my experience the discovery questions tactic only buys me more time but I'm still getting hung up on because the person on the other end of this call has now stated after each response to my discovery question thay they are still not interested before I can even get another word or question in. That is what is so frustrating. I wish there was a way to overcome this so a person could stop saying they are not interested after each question I ask.

It is a valid point that you have. Sometimes you will not be able to get around a prospect that has the position of I am not interested. And sometimes they are legitimately not interested and there is nothing you can do to make them interested. For example, if you sell cars and you are talking to someone that just bought a new car 6 months ago, there is nothing you are going to be able to say that keeps that conversation going because they do not need and want what you sell. But the goal here is not to resolve the I am not interested to make them interested. It is to keep the conversation to try to get away from it. If that works for some and you still have others that continue to stay on the point that they are not interested, I think you have made progress. In your scenario, let's say they say I am not interested and you then ask, "I see. Do you mind if I ask how often you try to take a vacation." I believe a percentage of the time someone will answer this with a number and you can then follow that up with another question or point. But if they answer that they are still not interested, there is not much you can do. Actually though, there is not much you can do at that point in the call. But you may look at what you are saying earlier in the call before they trigger the I am not interested objection. For example, if you sound like an product pushing salesperson, this can trigger the I am not interested response. So if you can adjust what you say before that comes up so you don't look like a product pusher, that can help with this objection in a more proactive way. Look for our other videos for tips on that.

"Ya know, Mr./Mrs. Customer, I don't blame you. I wouldn't be interested either if I didn't have any information. How about this...if you give me a few minutes, I can quickly explain the reason for my call so at least you know what you're not interested in...(qualifying question)"

When this happens repetitive with most of your cx and When you say it's only to buy time, then what I see is you are asking the incorrect discovery questions and not connecting the dots. Discovery questions opens a world not only to understand your cx and build rapport but also to overcome objections.
