I always feel like you're speaking directly to me, which in itself helps me realize that we all experience the same challenges. As I was listening to this awesome video I was thinking about the hundred of extremely annoying emails I receive daily. I tend to react to them, and I've been working on responding instead. Taking a moment to 1) think about why they sent it (they have a rules, regulations, bosses, etc). and 2) how can I redirect it to ask, "is this necessary?" I takes practice, but I'm getting better. Appreciate your reminders and awesome videos. YEAH for a book coming out!!!! Congrats!!

Well, it happened again. I cried for the second time this year. I was just in a really intense argument with someone, and once they left, I punched a door until my wrists turned red. Then, after watching this, I went to them and opened up about how I felt, and that I understood why they felt the way they did and wasn't really mad, and we made up. The thing though is the bit about being composed in any situation. I'm almost always composed, nonreacting and hating myself for it, calling myself a robot.

Great advise. My co-worker was recently fired by reacting to her emotions versus responding. The boss is on his honey moon and she was upset he didn't approve a $202 expense reimbursement before he left. She left the company without notice and was fired by the director when she came back the next day.

Ahhhhhh.....as usual, JUST IN TIME! OK, just after the time that I made a very default choice to react, but in time for me to be able to realign my current thoughts around it. I am telling you, Preston, we must have some sort of agreement on the other side, bc when I am struggling, you show up with your simple wisdom, and I can suddenly course correct. So many times I can't count them. Thank you, my learning teacher ... you have taught me soooo much about myself...almost like you know me. Btw....last yr, I was jumping Black Rock at Ka'annapoli.... 44 yr old drunken Mom climbed that sucker & jumped ... lol ... have YOU jumped Black Rock yet??? Lol....the snorkeling was GREAT, but since I don't drink at all, (once every 3-5 yrs), that climb and jump were the highlight of my drunken day in Maui ..lol... coming from someone who is terrified of heights, well, unless I'm drunk. Who knew! Cliff Diving ceremony at dusk is awesome too. You know who loves ya. ~♡~
2:52 "How it ends, it doesn't matter..." I think it does matter. We all want to be the most effective compassionate loving self-actualizing people possible, but what does that look like? Who can be the example for us in difficult situations like these, if not Preston Smiles? And if you still were imperfect, if you still reacted and got triggered in this situation, then share that vulnerability with us. We need to see that even life coach gurus are human.
Sounds like the guy you were dealing with might have had asperger's. Everything you described about they guy were key indicators, so it probably wasn't anything personal. Nice to see how you handled it in a positive way
Preston, I recently had someone disrespect my service by trying to blame me over services I offer in personal coaching and consultation. I have full transparency on my website of the process as well as walked this individual over the process on the phone after he agreed both verbally and in writing. Now this client is cancelling and is trying to blame me for being not trustworthy asking for upfront deposit and payment - even after he confessed he has trust issues with people but understands why there is an upfront fee sharing his own personal experience with cancellations. I get it, some people have issues trusting service providers but I've been so transparent the entire way through, asking questions, if this is okay etc. How do I even professionally respond to someone after I completely feel unappreciated and after a breach of contract previously agreed? Of course I want to wish this person well in whatever they're going through, if they just changed their mind that's fine but that doesn't discredit they're trying to blame me for something I haven't done. I would appreciate any help and constructive insightful help. I find I keep myself up at night trying to analyze and not cause anyone misery in all that I dedicate to and do to help.
Turns out that my interpretations are pretty freakin.....all over the place. I can see so clearly now that my emotions have been dictating my interpretations, and my interpretations, (my story), then needs to be realized, accepted, appreciated and released each time the emotion "rises up" within me. What an ongoing battle I have been fighting! Externally remaining calm, having compassion, choosing love - how did I not this?...lol. I have had to align with or energetically clear an aweful lot. What if I chose my INTERPRETATION instead??? For some reason this is just extremely profound to me in this moment....lolol. That's my missing link, which allows for a great amount of change coming from just the energetics shifting within me. ROFL....my son wasn't aggravated at ME...he was just anmoyed that he was being dragged away from GOOD TIMES hangin with Mom!!! OH SEE.....I can make this work! I can't believe I missed this. Fundamental understanding, just clicked completely into place. Thank you, Preston. You showed up at the perfect time, again. ~♡~
Love thie video. But, outcomes do matter, and you may need physcial space too. If your response does not create a solution, then fine, try again, but there is an extent to it, depending on how much spiritual growth and tests you wish to endure, some people are aren't worth more time, we live in a world of compromised and it is important to acknowledge that. I feel somethings are simply best left behind.
