How to Restore a Frozen Start Menu or Task Bar in Windows 10

Well. This actually did help. I had this problem somewhere on previous PC&operating systems and I forgot the way to do it. Thank you very much. Also, on my pc the "Windows Explorer" folder wasnt called like his, instead it was called Resource Management and was placed lower in the task manager katalog. The logo was like his though. GL.

Thanks so much! I didn't even have to do anything with the task manager, I just pressed windows+r and everything refreshed and started working again...

it's just my start menu, not my entire taskbar. if my mouse hovers over it, the animation will show but if i click it, nothing shows (but if something does show it usually freezes on the last frame of the animation of the start menu sliding up)

Why does this do it in the first place? This happens on 40% of all startups for me. It never happens once I'm up and running but if I shut down my system or reboot about 40% of the time the taskbar won't have any icons in it and the start button won't be usable. There has to be a long term fix because it shouldn't be thought of as a normal thing for this to happen that frequently.

It didn't work, things lit up on my tasbar but I couldn't press on them still

Thank you. This was a quick and easy way to restore the windows preview aero peek function on the taskbar which occasionally stops working. Much rather restart windows explorer in task manager instead of restarting the entire Desktop itself.

Awesome, very helpful. All other articles/videos I found was if the start button never worked, but this only happen rarely so I don't need to run a scannow to or similar to fix it, then I could just as well restart instead. But this tip with restarting explorer is perfect.
