Neat. It looks like, with some intelligence and elbow grease, you managed to turn an okay purchase into a really great one. I don't know anything about wood stoves so I didn't realize how many parts they had. Knowing those details also makes for smart shopping when buying used. Good work!

To clean the glass on a woodstove door use a dampened paper towel and dip it in cold wood ash. Make sure the glass is cool to the touch and rub the paper towel on the glass until it's clean, it takes literally less than a minute. Then take a clean paper towel and wipe the residue off. Much cheaper and easier than store bought cleaners.

I learned same trick this year and it gave me phenomenal results on my 15 year old Harmon pellet stove’s glass. No other product can compete with a damp towel and cold ash! 👍

The Salamander Hobbit stoves are brilliant little things and widely available in UK. Top tip for cleaning the glass and anything with wood residue on it is to dip a damp cloth or paper towel in wood ash and then wipe the glass clean before giving it a final polish with a dry paper towel. It leaves the glass crystal clear. The stove was well worth renovating and you did a great job on it. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great video, I recently got my hands on a old rusted wood stove, alot bigger than this one but still needs the same kind of TLC. After grinding/wiping off all the rust I rubbed it down with a few coats of cooking oil (and even a bit of bacon grease) and burned a few hot fires in it..did a good job of sealing the surface from rust. Ill plan on getting some of that polish too and seeing how that compares. Enjoy the stove!

I always used ash straight from the stove it's self mixed with some cleaner and hand rubbed the glass with it. It works like a charm and NEVER scratches the glass. I usually take the glass out if it's really bad that way I'm not hanging up on the mounting tabs leaving parts of my cloth all over.

BEST thing I have found to clean a dirty wood stove window. Spray on oven cleaner (do when stove is cold of course). First layer gets most of the gunk using a paper towel and then 2nd spray gets the hard to get stuff, squeaky clean every time, no scratches.

the fireplace/stove glass is ceramic, its quite hard, and its usually not smooth flat, but has little bumps on it so using a razorblade to clean it off doesnt work well. whatever cleaner you used worked really nice.
