Keeping employees is easy! Whenever you have a good month in revenue give some of those profits to your employees in cash! No amenities, no parties, no “words of encouragement,” no Starbucks gift cards, no certificates, no employee of the month, no taking the team out to eat. Simply say “hey look we made X amount of money this month here’s some cold hard cash”

People rarely quit jobs... they quit bosses. The second thing is, as a boss, you have to be "comfortable with" the Pareto distribution. Third issue is knowing that a functional conservative organization must have someone who is very "creative and open thinking" about ideas for expansion, who is not the "conservative lead". Usually they get "filtered out" and the organization starts to fail.
@Qwoptheplop
@Qwoptheplop Год назад
The bit on heirarchy makes that team or company seem like a NIGHTMARE of a place to work at. Places that encourage this are always so focused on everyone protecting their ego that good ideas are completely stifled. If you have a problem with someone speaking to you directly because their title in your organization doesn't match your self perceived status then you really need to do some introspection on if you truly value your ego or your product more. Funnily enough Patrick mentions adjusting your language to younger people but doesn't seem to be aware that talented young people more and more are unwilling to be treated like property.

Its so true that people don't leave jobs, they leave bad bosses. My job had an open VP position and recruiting told me that we got 3,000 applicants for it.. You are competing not just against people who don't have a job, but also against a ton of people with a job. If you have great leadership (at all levels), you can keep people engaged. So often companies promote people into management because they are good at their job -- but the skills needed to succeed as a manager/direct/VP/C level are different than being good at your original job.
@cutdepiefails6596

That's not really true. The actual job and/or pay are as big reasons as a bad boss.
@GenExDividendInvestor
@GenExDividendInvestor 5 лет назад
@@cutdepiefails6596 That's a good point... In my last 2 companies I worked for the HR folks drilled into us that there are a slew of reasons (which impact employee engagement, which is the primary reason why people leave) why people quit, with poor management being the main catalyst (poor management ties into not building an engaged workforce.. not ensuring salary and raises are appropriate.. not having a healthy environment.. not providing the appropriate training... etc etc). Management is ultimately responsible for all that... Then again, maybe they were drilling it into us because we were the managers So, while you might leave because your salary hasn't increased, that, too, is usually tied to poor management who couldn't influence the changes needed to ensure salaries were good, you were on board with things, etc.

@@GenExDividendInvestor no, i just needed a job, job was easy enough, and I only had to be there 4 hours. Bosses were great, the guys there were top notch, clients, usually 1 major arsehole per 500 returns, but pay for the full timers and hours were really the major factors for them to quit.

3 million quit because working for other people SUCKS. And: In today’s zero interest rate environment you can’t make it anymore in America working for other people because you can no longer get the multipliers to overcompensate for the increasing prices, inflation and taxes. Quite simply: Because so many are quitting it’s a GREAT time to work for yourself. And actually the costs of hiring (and retaining) as you’re saying are so prohibitively high now you’re going to continue to see people with only themselves n one other person in their company/network.

Health insurance for my family would cost seventeen hundred a month. So I’m going to continue to drag myself to work until I can get this figured out. My empathy is with all of you fellow Americans whom go to work everyday, and listen to the same crap day in and day out. Safety this safety that, no overtime, blah, blah, blah. Twenty three years at a chemical company and on my tenth year at a gas company working for peanuts. I would have been better off selling used vacuum cleaners and stuffed animals.

Have documented process and procedures and tools that work! In a large corporation the worst thing you can do is tell a person who has a question about a certain task is to go ask someone. I can ask three co-workers a question and get 5 different answers on how I'm supposed to do a task. Don't set up you're employees for failure. Give them the proper tools and ensure there is a constant feed back loop. If a tool or process is rolled out, make sure it works; ask for feedback and ACT on the feedback. Don't tell the employee, I hear you but were not going to fix it.

It should be very easy to run a company. For 1, stop calling them employees. This is a team. 1 team. Everyone is a boss and everyone is equally responsible for getting the win. If you don't think so Mr. Owner, by all means do everything on your own. 2. Fuck 9-5. Work when you want, just meet all requirements at all due dates. 3. Work wherever you want. Just get the work done. 4. Stop giving people titles. Most people have never really accomplished anything. Once you give them an ounce of power they will run with it and ruin everything like having 3 million people quit. 5. Care. Actually care about people. In and out of work. It takes a 3 sec question or compliment to make someone's day.

For instance, trust, do theright thing the first time, respect, we value our customers and employees, etc. All those wonderful values that make the company look like they are serious. Always those values are good things, common sense, that are aligned with good people values. So my question is what kind of values migh make an employee to quit? Simple, an employer that undervalue tjeir employees, the so called "LOW COST CULTURE", when employers or managers want to undermine quality over schedule, especially whe doing products that have safety constraints for the customers, a toxic leadership that is not transparent and lie to the employees. All that bad practices make employees quit.

I guessed 100,000 people quit their job every day before the video started. Love this video and your channel. This is the best insight into the employee world you can find. Best way to have growth in the business world and entrepreneurship.

Patrick have you heard of Michael DiLeonardo? I’m sure he would be great to interview because it has not been done before...

Stop being cheap, pay 100 percent of heath,dental,vision. Give them 8 weeks paid vacation. Again stop being greedy and cheap. You have to PAY to PLAY.

This is very simple. 1. Treat employees with respect and fairness. 2. Pay more than just a supposed "cost of living wage".

It’s very simple, treat your employee’s right and pay them fairly. You cant treat your people like crap, and pay them little to nothing and then cry about them not being “loyal” as they leave. We are all people who have family’s, want to be financially stable, and happy at our work place.

As a mid level manager with a horrible boss this video was eye opening. I now know exactly what to look for in future employers/employees.
