The guy makes $150,000 a year but their social security at 67 is only $2800 per month? I would tgink it would be at least $3000 per month.

Can we get a scenario about retiring at 40 or 45?? I've asked before so im still on the lookout for it. I got so excited to see 45 in the title then you said retire at 55...

45 seems really early right? Where are you going to live, how much in assets and expenses?

@@yourfinancialekgage 32. paid off home in Aug 2023 that's in the US. 250k invested in retirement and brokerage accounts. After property is paid off my annual investment should be 95k annually. I'm aiming for age 40 but it may take until 45. Expenses removing mortgage right now would drop down to 20k/annual. Retirement lifestyle I'd want is probably 50-60k pre-tax... which has a big buffer added in. Additional information I'm not counting anything from my long term boyfriend as we aren't married yet, but we do have a 16 year age gap so he'll hit SS well before me but he doesn't want to stop working as we are digital nomads so we geo arbitraging currently hence my super low expenses, but also why I'm adding in a buffer.

I think there’s an error. You’re using an inflation adjusted return on your investments so you shouldn’t have to adjust the cost of living for inflation. Everything would be in today’s dollars. Feel free to correct me if I missed something.
@yourfinancialekg
@yourfinancialekg Год назад
Does the cost of living not go up? Market returns are always adjusted for inflation. Those are two separate metrics that are combined when creating a future cash flow calculation.
@jackdguida
@jackdguida Год назад
@@yourfinancialekg sure, cost of living goes up but in your example you’re comparing real investment returns to nominal dollar expenses. I’m not an expert on this but should you be using either all real or all nominal values?
@yourfinancialekg
@yourfinancialekg Год назад
I’m super conservative in my planning. I’m going to use the most conservative factors which would be using both. The software we use does the same thing expect it factors in inflation, taxes, and historical market returns. Thanks for the discussion!

Inflation also plays a role during the 10 years he is working. I assumed 70k expenses is at age 45…at age 55 it should be higher?
@jbcvdh6239
@jbcvdh6239 Год назад
The 70k$ should be adjusted during the 10 years he is working too? The 70k is his expenditure at 45…at 55 it would be 94k$?
