Before plugging the battery back, I would recommend leaving the ignition open just in case the airbag deploys.

Or take some hearing protection on, and reach under the steering wheel to turn on the ignition :)

I'm trying to retrofit a 2013 beetle wheel onto my Mk5 rabbit. Had to get a new clock spring because air bag connector was different. Now horn doesn't work & bag light on. Wondering if maybe needs coding or some wiring like this.

Looks great! How did you get a GTI wheel without the audio controls on it? I have a MK6 golf and would like to do this but I don’t have the infotainment system so having the stock buttons would be useless.

Hello i have a MK5 2004, Steering Wheel Control Module 1K0-953-549-A in my car and my steering wheel is 5C0 419 091AK. if i use Steering Wheel Control Module 3C0 953 549 AJ (for Passat) Will it work all functions well ? or which one i have to use? Could u please explain to me in this case and whats the differences between 1K0 & 3C0

@@armandocapellupo1193 No, just make sure you connect the MK4 airbag cables to the MK6 airbag cables, same for the claxon... also don't forget to first unplug the battery and discharge yourself other wise the airbag could go off :)

Personally I would've used solder & heat shrink on the wire joints. What brand of t-shirt should be used to isolate the battery terminal? I can't make out the label in the video :P

Hi bro, the steering wheel is from an VW Golf MK6 GTI, without buttons. The exact steering wheel is available on the Polo GTI (don't know the exact model tho)

I thought about it too, but most MK4 have just 4 pins in the connector of the steeringwheel so you cant connect the other buttons to it

every steering wheel is VW group in that era is the same, only the airbag connectors are different but you can switch them like i did

Looks really sharp man, great work. I'm currently in the process of doing the exact same thing to my Jetta. I have 1 question about the bottom trim. Did u just pry it off? I got the wheel with the wheel controls an they seem to come off with screws but the bottom has no screws, so b4 I start prying and ripping is like to just know, the wheel was not cheap. My car is a GLI not a GTIso of like to switch over the bottom to match or my own design ty

Hi! Looks great! I have all the parts, but I can't see the wiring thoroughly. Can you post the wiring in real time? I bought my wheel and airbag for $225. Can you believe it?! Had to get it re-wrapped. Got golf R gray stitching and a shift gaitor to match. Also installed the mk6 Golf r shifter. Too nice. Help me with the wiring and I'll post pics.

Hey so the problem I'm having now is finding the damn wheel. I found a couple wheels on ebay but they don't have the center cover or shit that goes in it, like the bag and whatever else they stuff in there. So then I look some more and find just the cover but none of the stuff that goes in the cover, so that's fine but apparently the center cover won't attach to the wheel without the shit that goes inside. So basically as you can tell I'm having a hard time finding shit to match up. Do you have any suggestions. Anything short of a salvage yard. I kind of want to avoid the S-yard because I'd run into the same thing and basically just a wild goose chase.
