finally you did this. this is the single most awesome mod for an f10. i installed the evo version that doesn t allow you to use the bmw maps, coz it was cheaper and i use google maps or waze in carplay anyway. i never regreted this retrofit. i would do it again anytime

Wasnt supposed GPS data to be transmitted to the HU from ATM via OABR connector (fed by shark fin)? Why do you need that cable with the blue fakra?

If iphone is connected as Carplay (and not bluetooth) device, does your headup display show the contacts if you push the tel button on the wheel or only an information that it works over carplay?

I’m curious if I can do a similar thing in my 2016 F15 X5. The NBT Evo and touchscreen should be relatively easy, but less sure about the 4G upgrade. I missed having the ATM in my car by 1 or 2 months on its manufacture date 😢

Question. You said that you had the EVO flashed on the bench to match your vin, so that it would be plug and play, but later you said that you needed the activator for the CAS VIN checks. And then you said that the EVO and ATM needed the same VIN. So what VIN did you have flashed into your EVO and what VIN is in the ATM? Or, did you flash your EVO to have your vin and use the activator to wipe the vin on the ATM? Is it possible to flash the ATM to your VIN so that the activator is not required? I'm looking to do the same retrofit on a F10 and I'm not sure what VIN, activator, harness, etc. is needed. Any clarity on the VIN situation would be great.

From my understanding, the hardware IMEI / VIN matching on the ATM modules can’t really be changed. And the head unit and ATM need to be the same vin in order for ConnectedDrive to work. So my guess is he’s using the activator for that purpose, to keep the retrofit EVO and ATM on the matching VIN from whatever vehicle they came from.

it a great video, but since the NBT EVO is a from a different car how did the NBTEVO headunit understands ur car VIN number ? and were you able to do all the current car settings from the headunit like you did from old NBT ..? and you mentioned the gps is not currently showing proper place in offline EVO map is that fixed ?

Is atm required? I have almost everything besides that. Going to be attempting this on a pre lci f10 with cic. I don’t really care for connected drive. Just want CarPlay and an oem updated interface that keeps the car’s functionality.

No atm is not needed. If you have pre lci with cic and want to upgrade to NBT evo. You need car systems adapter or to upgrade gateway

Super cool! I have an 2017 i01 (2017 i3) going to upgrade my car to an NBT EVO. Already have a 4G LTE TCB, my connected and remote services work fine. (Subscribed until late 2023) Have a question on the white cable you showed.

An atm is required for RTTI with an evo. Since the TCB has different connectors and wiring this harness is needed to convert from TCB to ATM

@@EvanGoyuk thanks Evan. I thought the cable you was a conversion from USB to Ethernet, which is what the EVO unit requires for the data services. The new telematics box the dealer installed in my 2017 i01 just before the factory warranty expired, works fine - since it’s a 4G LTE unit. But it’s slower because the older NBT ID4 is S-L-O-W.. I use a RoadTop box for Apple CarPlay, and I could convert to an NBT-EVO with an ATM telematics box, but I’d lose all of the BMW subscribed services. Unless I can convert the USB the old TCB generates to Ethernet the EVO requires, I’m afraid I’m stuck with the old NBT, and as you stated, because NBT EVO won’t work with a older TCB (no data signal provided via Ethernet) and requires the data connection for BMW subscribed services. There’s another RU-vidr (logic7repair) who has a “fix” cable from the older telematics box (TCB) which plugs into the OABR port providing the data +/- leads of the Ethernet cable. Too bad he doesn’t publish the schematic for it.

Great, but who will finally do a guide for F10 preFL CIC to NBT ?? Where?! where is the info? I know its hards, but is it sooo impossible that there are no info at all?
