QLI Physical Therapist Brad and Mentor Seth demonstrate an effective technique for returning to your wheelchair after a fall in your home. Seth demonstrates how to return his wheelchair to an upright, stable position, how to maneuver and position his body to pull himself to a higher surface (such as his futon), and finally how to transfer from that surface back to his wheelchair. Keep in mind that while Seth's futon is fairly low to the ground, you will need to be more creative if your surface is taller. Brad suggests removing cushions from the surface or even using the seat from your wheelchair to give an extra few inches to make returning to your chair easier.
