In this short video of 'how to rewind an electric motor' (part 4) our rewinds engineer laces the grouped phases together with insulation paper. It's an important process to ensure that the phases don't touch. The coils are then connected to the start and end phases indicated with red and black wires.
Other winders could use different coloured wiring than black and red. It's also very important to make notes and take pictures of the original wiring configuration before the old coils are removed.
Please note that this is NOT a comprehensive guide. Due to the vast amount of different motors and winding patterns, the rewinding process can vary greatly. However, it generally involves cutting the original windings out of the motor’s stator or armature and replacing them with new coils made from wire of the same basic type and gauge.
