I've looked at a bunch of scooter videos to help my wife learn how to ride and yours is the best of them! Nice job, especially with "look where you want to go" and throttle control.
I got my scooter yesterday, i practiced for about half an hour and im comftrable riding it now.The only problem is that my growth spurt hasn't really started yet, so im shorter than my friends.Because im short it makes my ability to move the scooter around when its not turned on much harder.Man this thing is heavy!
GalaxyDreaming you will probably get it pretty fast. I am 13 and have been riding it for about 2 months alone and it's prreety easy once you know how much to accelerate and which brake to use.
+Lavi Nia Sorry I forgot signals. You just push the lever to either side to activate. Then push it in to cancel. And to reverse, just practice walking backwards. lol. But really, just make sure your feet are on a stable surface because you'll be transferring weight side to side.
+bench175 First off...great video and great scooter too. I also like that you wore protective gear and were very organized in your presentation. One question that I have when it comes to backing up the scooter is this: it might depend on the particular situation, but do you do it with the motor on or the motor off? I've actually seen different opinions. There might not be one right answer, but how do you do it? (For example, I saw someone with a lot of RU-vid instruction videos for beginners who said he prefers to back his bike (motorcycle) into a parking space so when he leaves he can more safely pull forward and not have to worry about backing into any cars. But on his motorcycle he has a neutral gear when he backs in; on a scooter there's really no neutral gear. So that's why I'm asking. Because in the process of pulling back on the handlebar you might accidentally pull back on the throttle and that wouldn't be so great.)
***** I usually ride front-first into a space and back up with the motor on so it can warm up a bit. I don't think I've ever accidentally given throttle when backing up. There should be a little play in the throttle that will help prevent that, but overall it's not likely bc you're pulling straight back on the handle, not rotating it.
Thanks for the advice! I'm waiting my first scooter, it's a small electric one. It can reach max 45km/h, but now I'm happy I get it delivered at my house, and I don't have to drive it directly in the traffic from the dealer to my place. I'll definitely practice first at the supermarket that's 500m from my home 🙂
This is a great beginner's video, thanks for making and posting! I just bought a 2010 Kymco "Like 50" for getting around the city. Unfortunately I laid it down during my test drive and did some superficial damage but nothing structural, felt obligated to buy after that. But I'm looking forward to learning how to ride and enjoy this summer, and this video is a nice tutorial, thanks again!
I am from the UK, I just did my CBT test today. Thankfully I passed. It was my first time ever using a mopeds! I was absolutely terrified, but glad I did it. I need to practice more though! That's video really helped me to recap on the training that I was given. Thank you.
Great video. I'm learning to ride a vespa, but this was very informative in case the scooter tour company in Italy gives me a different type of scooter!
This is me rn lol, i start work tomorrow as a delivery driver and dont actually have my own car, so ill have to use a scooter even tho ive never used one before. Am i screwed lol
Fuego just take it easy on the turns. the rest is pretty basic, like riding a bicycle. on rush orders tho, just practice leaning instead of turning the handle bars when making "safe" turns. Good luck out there!!
Good tutorial. When teaching people or letting them ride my scoots, if they are a noob, I always reinforce, maybe three of four times where the brakes are. The first time I rode a motorcycle (with clutch, etc.), I wasn't told where the brake was and ended up crashing into a fence...whisky throttled it when I started panicking. Lol! Always know where the brakes are!
Wow!... i'm going for a scooter test this afternoon and i haven't rode one before ever!.. So, i'm a bit scared, but your video has helped me much! Thanks a lot!!! ;)
Thinking about getting a scooter recently. your videos are a huge help in my research. Keep them coming. Perhaps more in depth topics like your gear or locks, insurance, safety, accidents, rain, scooter maintenance. I would really like to see how to fuel up a scooter and change oil etc.
UnboxSurge Thanks for watching, I have made a video on the wheel lock i use and a safety video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cj5PBMzy74g.html
Thanks for the video im after getting a 50 cc in a few month for my first bike and i think its going to help me alot Thanks for the great video tutorial man
Awesome! You will eventually get used to the weight I think. I actually dropped my bike the very first day because it was so heavy, but now I can throw it around easily.
I like mopeds. I would like to get one and use mine for mainly grocery runs. I would go about 4 miles round trip every week. less wear and tear on my car, and I can fill it up with a gallon of gas mixed with 2 stroke oil and have it last a while.
I am buying a roughhouse 50 sport scooter today. It's been since 1982/83 since I owned a moped. I enjoyed watching the video. So, I am going to rediscover all that you shared. Thanks for the video. 🙄
Great videos! I am approaching my 70th BD and have decided to downsize a bit. I've owned over 25 motorcycles including many Yamaha's. I love Yamaha for their quality and fit and finish. After several hundred thousand miles moving to a Majesty should be pure fun! I'm currently riding a 2012 Harley Dyna Switchback and Its getting a bit heavy and bulky so I traded it to my local Yamaha dealer for a 2014 Majesty 400. I'm planning on fitting a Shad SH39 Top Case, a taller Cee Bailey W/S, a 12V outlet in the glovebox and under the rear seat. I might throw on a pair of Pirelli Diablo tires as well. Thanks again for the informative videos! Ace
Getting my first sliverwing 600 in a week , thanks for doing these tutorials they really helping alot. Not sure if you talk about weight distribution when you are riding with a passenger if you could give some pointers on that I be thankful. ✌🏽
Welcome. Just remind them that this thing is on two wheels so no sudden side to side movements. The bike will feel a lot heavier so brake earlier and smoother and be ready to brace stronger on your leg when you lean at a stop.
@@bench175 hey thanks for the advice, so I had my first session today the bike was heavy but I felt comfortable on it especially going straight forward. I was having trouble turning around without putting my feet down, do you have any suggestions. Should I give it more gas while I'm turning or should I kinda just coast and turn. If that makes sense? Thanks again for the advice✌🏽
This helped me a lot, I plan on getting my motorbike license and I want to get a scooter like yours. I've never ridden a bike before so I was a bit hesitant at first but a lot of people I know that ride bikes/scooters tell me once you get the hang of it its a very enjoyable experience being part of the two wheel club lol.
NIce Job - I am 51 hands lots of toy. I just bought this vehicle to bring along camping and train my boys how to ride, your video helped me think of things I would not have said. So thanks.
B A D V I B E S / me too excited about getting my scooter 🛵 it’s going to be red and some black . I rode a moped years ago when I was like 17 and hoping I still remember and I think I will when I get on it. ( been looking at a lot of how to videos) 😋👍
Great advice for new people ! I just bought one drove it 400km home first time love it although I've been driving motorcycles for 50 years great video!
Damn bro your is the man son i just got mine a month ago and have not touch it since i bump into a friend of mine and he roads me home for me on it.....this vid gives me Courage to Ride my bike. No, I'm going to try everything. You said maybe tomorrow and look at this again to boost my confidence before I Ride it
i have a question!! don’t you need like a motorcycle license or whatever to ride a bike and don’t you have to be a certain age... i’m assuming you’re 16 ..... and did u get one? if so how was it ??
OPPA SARANGHAE lol that’s funny i never got one, i was super excited cuz i thought i was going to, but i had to wait until i was 16 to get my license then i got a car. but i’m pretty sure depending on the state you can get a license to drive a moped, not positive but do your research :D
This is so so helpful, probably the most helpful video I have seen tbh!! I’ve got my test next month I’m so nervous but this has really helped my nerves thank you!! :)
This was great thank you. I was shaking the first time lol and I almost crashed into a parked car so you're definitely right about needing to look where your going.
Thank you for this informational video! I knew a lot of what you said already cause I've rode before .. so this was really understandable. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for this!! I’m thinking about getting a scooter cuz it’s gonna take me years to save up for a car license and a car and I think this would help me getting more out!! But I’m very nervous about it! This made me feel more safe and comfortable about the thought :)
Excellent, I am a 40+ car and bus driver in the uk, I have never used a road bike or scooter. I have my UK CBT tomorrow and this video is a dam good help, thnx
You did an amazing job explaining everything you would make s great teacher. I was wondering if you could make a video on counter steering because you explain everything so well
Haha, I'm glad you have instructions for those of us who are short. I'm 5'2" and my tip toes barely reach the ground in regular sitting position like you are. So what I would do is, when needing to push, sit on the seat like you're standing over a bicycle seat, that is legs on either side pointing straight down to the ground rather than bent forward in a siting position. Doing that gave me enough contact with the ground to have some traction.
Gotta love this advice, this info is going to be very helpful since I'm going to be riding a similar vehicle tomorrow (with no prior experience other than on 20mph escooters).
Something to mote about the Silver Wing brakes is that the front and rear brakes are actually linked so that the left hand lever actuated both. Initially the rear brake is applied then after a slight delay the front brake is applied. The right hand lever operates only the front brake. So for emergency braking both levers can be used for maximum braking. The trick is not to squeeze too tightly all of a sudden but to gradually apply pressure. Of course ABS (which is an option on early models) helps to prevent the tires from skidding under hard braking. Thx for the vid.
I know this is an old video but it was very helpful im getting my first scooter soon an electric one (looking for the best deals) and ill be 100% honest im terrified but i need to overcome it and will practice as long as it takes, thank you again! 👏🏼
I don't have a scooter but I wanna buy one a couple year later. Thanks for making this video. You made my night better because now I know how to start a scooter. Have a great day/night of you see this. ♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️
In regard to taking a scooter or a motorcycle off the center stand, I've always found the easiest and safest way was to get on the bike, then stand astride it with both feet on the ground and both hands on the handlebars, then gently push it forward. As it comes off the stand, you have the bike controlled just as if you were stopped in traffic. There's more chance of it overbalancing away from you, if simply standing by it's side and pushing it, primarily because you're more aware of it's dead weight, and just a few degrees list away, and it's going to go down. My first bike was a 1959 Triumph Bonneville, and I could even pull that back onto it's center stand whilst still astride it...
countersteer is to slightly turn the bike opposite of the turn direction (slightly) to pitch the bike the direction of the turn then turn that direction. It really helps in turns, it put the bike in a leaning position.
I just got my scooter 3 months ago and I’m glad you had this video I never was on a scooter or motorcycle so this help me a lot. I have not been on it yet still need to buy a helmet Anyways Thank you for the video it helps a lot I’m sure I’ll watch it again and again THANKS
i bought a 110cc scooter w/o knowing how to ride one. i just watched your video about 20 times lol. as long as u know how to ride a bicycle u can do it. thanks for the upload.
