Do you tackle steep climbs for fun on your eMTB?

Off course, I've got I good amount of steep switchbacks here. Once you're starting to manage them its very satisfying, you can play with the bike.

Credit where it's due Steve, that was very worthy clip, and superbly executed. As for climbs, it is the only aspect of eMTB's that interests me. Quick example. imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q90/923/DrJv7b.jpg

Also aiming to tackle this in July. 8.2 miles with 7,824ft of elevation gain. I've made it half way in the past, before having to turn back because of two very aggressive and nasty dogs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_k2dL6nzlck.html

You have the bike that made me start saving up for an ebike, i got the cheaper newer model the one not having carbon frame or a dropper (using a quick release temporarily) anyways I'm a total beginner and the wheels got bigger and i think the back wheel is a bit to large i think it ruins the feeling of the Track and grip a bit,, I would like to try a levo or kenevo with 27,5 wheels just to check how it feels,, I really wish it wasn't larger than that and that it had internal gears instead of the derailleur which I'm scared will ruin the entire back triangle if it hits something.. I didnt realize such weaknesses before I bought it i just took for granted that it was perfect for offroad stuff... Have you guys tried both models? Do any of you feel more in control of the tail with a bit smaller back wheel,,, or have a kenevo i wonder if a coil shock would be better for me, specially when riding in the city and my dampers are in bounce mode with 22 percent sag, i just call my dampers that when it's having fast rebound (probably not a safe setup for downhill etc) anyways I wish the store could help me out with the back wheel because I don't want to derestrict it to make it same as now, it will be slower with smaller wheel,,, hmmm i guess the evolution of emtb hasn't even started for real it's so many things needed just to make them fit for their purpose

A lot of our tight uphill corners have small rocks in the Track just on before the line out which act like little tank traps and will stall your momentum if not aware. I've learnt not to lean like you did but try to lean the Bike only while keeping my Body upright. because that's when you will topple over if almost coming to a stop, without time to put the foot down, though having the assist power to pop you past now does make it not so important to do as before. Anyway that's what works for me.

Thanks for the advice. I've just ordered 152mm crank arms for my Levo as I'm fed up with pedal strikes!

Excellent parting of knowledge as usual Steve. As for tackling steep switch backs - that's what an ebike lives for 😎

Great video! Thanks! Pedalling and leaning into a corner used to be an nightmare for pedal strikes on my Levo until I switched to 152mm pedal cranks. Sorted.

Great advice Steve...... just wanted to add that tyres and tyre pressure is very important on the tech stuff I’ve a haibike xduro allmountain 7 2018 I’ve just changed my tyres to a 3.0 purgatory grid on the rear and 2.8 slaughter grid on the front I’ll run these about 18 psi. Being an x motor cycle enduro rider it seemed logical to have a larger tyre on the back were all the grip is needed.I seem to be struggling getting up the same climbs as when I had my levo 2017 with the 3.0 tyres, so see how it goes. One more thing any advice on peddle strikes it seems the haibike does it just as much as the levo is it a case of just changing the crank arms or does it have to be remapped. Thanks Richard Cutts Nottingham

Thanks for the tips Steve, great video as always. Still recovering from knee surgery but finally out on my ebike pretty much daily. I was recently able to get back onto a few of my favorite trails, first time to ever ride with my ebike. The more I ride the more comfortable I am getting with the significant differences that I feel on this bike as compared to my non-ebike. I have felt like I am fighting the motor at times, especially on uphill switchbacks, struggling in a few of the exact areas that this video addresses. Very timely, I am looking forward to applying the techniques you taught here on my next ride.

Great advice Steve! Quick question: what tire pressure are you using?
