In this video I am giving you guys an in-depth breakdown of how I rig and fine-tune my Severne slalom race sails to get the best performance, speed and control out of them.
I will be covering the following points:
- How to rig the sail and get the cambers on effortlessly
- A summary of all the Severne masts and for which sails I used them: ApexPro Redline SDM masts, Gorilla masts, Blue line masts, RDM Redline masts.
- Ideal boom height
- Downhaul tension
- Outhaul tension
- Harness line placement and length
- Using the Adjustable Outhaul
- Batten tension
- Tack strap tension
- Seat Harness vs waist harness
- The best board, sail, fin combinations for various wind strengths
- Severne sail components and design
- The two biggest mistakes when rigging for slalom sailing
As a team-rider for Severne I have been through 4 generations of their race sails: Reflex 7, Reflex 8, Mach 1 and Mach 2. Prior to becoming a Team-rider I have sailed my way through all the Severne Sails: The Gators, NCX sails, Turbot, Code Red sails before switching over to the high-end Severne race sails. In this process I have learnt how the sails operate and how to get the best performance and enjoyment out of them. I am happy to share with you my experiences and tips.
