Interestingly, I learned how to drop in by learning tail stalls first and just stalling for longer each time. It helped me overcome the fear to commit to the drop in.
@SkateparkLessons
@SkateparkLessons 3 года назад
I’ve seen people build confidence that way as well, glad you found a way that worked for you. Please just recognize Tail stalls and drop in are similar but different. You should never get back to standing up on the deck of the ramp while doing Tail stalls. You only lean forward and push your back leg back so your tail touches and lifts your board to level and quickly drop back in
@nutritious3250
@nutritious3250 2 года назад
Samee took me 2 months to drop in

@@SkateparkLessons I can tail stall the way you describe, but i thought part of the goal was to get right back up onto the deck in a full stall, and I can't do it that way :-) I thought i was doing it wrong. I'm going to stop worrying about it now and just enjoy it. Also, keep making these videos, they're all excellent,.

@@SkateparkLessons I can drop in easily but I can't tail stall 😭😭
@babylonastronaut
@babylonastronaut Год назад
@@blitzs619 I never had a single problem with tail stalls for some reason, and I'm not a great skater by any stretch. I'd say just practice them wherever on the ramp you hit the 'pause point'. If you can do them halfway, a quarter way, anywhere on the transition, doing them on the coping will be really natural. It's kind of one of those tricks where you stop over thinking it and it just feels right. Good luck man! They're really fun and useful until you come up with something else cool to do fakie like a half cab rock.

@SkateparkLessons
@SkateparkLessons 2 года назад
I’ve started one but he didn’t land it so we didn’t finish this video yet. Proper rock n rolls are quite difficult and not as easy as they look. Many people assume they’re the next progression after rock to fakie but they’re much harder for most people as you need a bigger quarter pipe or vert to do them correctly to have your back wheels come off the ramp when you slap the rock 💙🛹💙

Yo JB, do you recommend risers for riding transition to prevent wheel bite? Also, do you recommend a particular brand of bushings? Thanks dude.
@SkateparkLessons
@SkateparkLessons 3 года назад
Risers depend on wheel size, I ride 54mm and loose trucks so no risers. Over time you’ll learn your leaning/wheelbite point. Best Bushing are stock ace bushings or bones medium or soft bushings depending on your body weight. Thanks

That small transition in this video, could you tell me the height and diameter of the transition? None of the parks around have a real mini ramp like this, so I wanna build a couple of quarters at the shop I work at. I was trying to rock on the middle of this rainbow at the park today and kept falling back

How do you control your momentum so your board ends up where you can rock forward and then rock back lift your trucks and go back down? I find when I finally get to the point where I am beyond tapping over the coping I go into the ramp too fast and just end up on the top of the ramp.
@SkateparkLessons

Lean your head forward into the stall and then lean back, as you lean back bend down and press on the tail to clear your front truck. Watch my new rock to fakie help lesson 💙🛹💙

I'm at a loss. Please help. Looking for how to slide on a 1/4 pipe and I am talking about getting the board to skid on the ramp and come back straight or fakie. All I can find is sliding on the coping or Bert slides. Not what I am looking for. I want to make the wheels make the skirt sound on the 1/4 pipe. Thanks what is this called?
@SkateparkLessons
@SkateparkLessons 8 месяцев назад
Rock slide. Same as a rock to fakie but you carve into it to get your slide.
@kennybraverman9719

Thank you but that isn't what I am looking for. I am looking to make the skirt sound with my board on the 1/4 pipe and come back down fakie. I see it a lot. People role up the 1/4 pipe and grab the copping with their hands and slide the board instead of kick turning and come back fakie. Some times they do a hands free 360 sliding the board on the 1/4 pipe. Not the coping Thanks again.

@SkateparkLessons
@SkateparkLessons 3 года назад
I thought that’s what you meant, you need to pump up fakie with enough speed to get your head and body weight back up the ramp onto the coping and over your tail stall foot. This is the opposite of how to do a proper tail stall and be careful your board doesn’t slip out and smash your hip on the coping. 💙🛹💙
