Disclaimer: Crystal Wellness Studio is not sponsored in any way by any of the products or equipment we feature in our videos. Any recommendations come from our personal experience with the product or equipment, from our own research and experimentation.
Crystal Wellness Studio is a Lortone believer for rock tumblers. We run our barrels 24/7 all year long and have no issues with the equipment. (Except that one time we overloaded the six-pound barrels on our QT66-but that was our fault, not the equipment.)
Model numbers for the tumblers we use:
3-1.5 is a 1.5-pound barrel capacity unit with three barrels
33B (we have 3 of these units) is a 3-pound barrel capacity unit with two barrels (per unit)
45C is a 4-pound barrel capacity unit with one barrel
QT66 is a 6-pound capacity barrel unit with two barrels
We buy our grit and ceramic media from The Rock Shed exclusively. The owner is awesome to work with and doesn’t screw you on the shipping. Customer service is top-rated in our book and he ships quickly. We even bought a Lortone tumbler from The Rock Shed once when Lortone itself was out of stock!
Tumbling rough we purchase from a variety of vendors. We wanted to compare product and shipping costs from a wide market. Let’s face it, not every vendor carries every rock, and every rock is not always in stock. We have some unboxing videos on the channel if you want to check that process out!
Some of our favorite vendors for rough rock in the United States are The Rock Shed, Gemsbymail.com, Kingsley North, and Stonebridge Imports out of Canada.

I started tumbling rocks 3 years ago. I'm running petrified wood for the first time. I just started my 3rd week on stage 1, amazed how beautiful they look already. I have had good & bad luck with different types of rocks, this video is very helpful. Thanks.

I LOVE Petrofoed wood AND the imperfections I would move most to stage 1 . I call 46/70 stage or step 0. I don't mind folds and dings, I want a glow on parts, shine on others but Fir me I want as much original character as I can get. I wish I could tumble and not lose the bark For fracture lines, toothbrush and wash in between!

Love your videos! I'm sure you have figured it out by now, but in the Mini-Sonics the stages are a little longer. I run the 500 and 1000 grits for at least 3 days. My AO polish stage runs 5 days. I also use a lot less grit/polish. 1/2 teaspoon per load, with 1/2 tablespoon of borax. I have very hard water as well and this formula works amazing in my mini sonic (4lb hopper). Keep up the great content!

Please tell me you aren't running that slurry down your drain. I'm hoping you have a bucket under that drain, and it's not going into your pipes. :0

I empty those outside in the rock garden. If it's winter and I clean them inside, the water goes into a bucket then outside!

Thank you for subscribing Sharon! Personally, I'd start with a Jasper, they are ALMOST foolproof if given enough time. They shine up beautifully, come in a huge variety, and are pretty consistently a MOHS 7 hardness. One thing to note, not everything a vendor says is Jasper truly is. Once in a while you'll get one that is a bit softer, like a Picasso Jasper, it ran more like a MOHS 6.5. I still got great results!

Unfortunately, the diamond pacific vibratories are not as good as raytech and Lot-o vibes. Sorry there was so much work for so little pay off but lesson learned!
