I have wanted to share my Outdoor Roller Skating Tips for SOOOO long. I have had to work around the weather but I was able to finally get it done. I hope these tips help you on your skating journey and at least makes the learning process a little more smooth.

I LOVE my Atom Pulse wheels for trail skating. Even the 62mm (Lite’s) are pretty good outdoors. Not as much now that I am a more confident outdoor skater but in the beginning I would take a small back pack with flip flops/ slides and my skate leash in case I had to remove my skates and walk. It rarely happened but occasionally I would encounter something I wasn’t sure I could handle and it was nice to have an “out” if I needed it. You are 100% correct about headphones. I would say almost never wear them when you are skating on a trail and definitely not if you are street skating. You can’t hear people sneaking up on you or cars/bikes approaching from the rear. I will carry a small clip on speaker as it will allow me to hear ambient noises and I can listen to music and be aware of my surroundings. Anyway thanks for a great video.

Hi hello I really really want to get into roller skating but I’m a inside person I spend a lot of time indoors so I’m scared I’m not gonna get the full experience or just hide the roller skates in the closet what are some good tips to stay encouraged?

Thanks for this video, Tani. You’re a skilled and practical (and non-aggressive) skater. I saved this to my outdoor playlist for reference. I love being outdoors more than the rink because of the different environments you can be in. Definitely sharpens a skater’s skills.

5:40 The idea of lifting your toes inside the boot is brilliant-it’s an easy way to manifest the idea of being “light on your feet” without overthinking it. I’m a returning older skater just starting outdoors and this helps me a lot! Thanks for this video so full of really good info.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I actually didn’t realize I was lifting my toes until I really started paying attention to what I was doing so I could help others. It keeps you from tripping up on debris and cracks because of the positioning of weight too. Happy skating! 🙌🛼
