The Darkest Dungeon soundtrack has been essential for making spooky sessions. Trying to imitate Wayne June’s voice hurts my throat though.

Scented candles that smell bad? I'm an avid candle hoarder and a DM who loves creating ambiance at the table, but never in my life have I heard of disgusting candles lol. Wouldn't they be too nauseating and distracting though?

There's this shop in Baltimore called the bazaar. They have a website where you can buy graveyard scented candles, abandoned hospital, etc.

I tend to use good-smelling for *all* of my games, lol. For Halloween games I just use pumpkin spice or midnight dew (smells like dew but richer).

I run an Open Call Horror One-Shot every year and I disagree that high level characters won’t/don’t have as much fun as opposed to a low level character. That is completely on the DM’s shoulders, it has nothing to do with the PCs level. Don’t be afraid to allow your players to be Level 8 or Level 12 and allow them to experience play with those levels. It’s pretty fun actually. Not having to worry about your PCs dying off the jump is sooo much more rewarding
