I just went to the Cioks DC7 and 8, just to eliminate all the issues. I use 1 pedal per port. One of the biggest things I noticed switching to the Cioks was how the noise floor dropped alot just switching to Cioks.
@Amish_Trivedi
@Amish_Trivedi Год назад
They've got some splitters in there, so I am just running a 7 with five pedals easily chained (some of my drives + Dyna comp and another for two of my modulation pedals). That said- agreed Cioks is the way to go for all that.
@eddiekalista3222
@eddiekalista3222 Год назад
I'll admit that I'm vastly under-utilizing my power. I have the Cioks DC7 and the 8 expansion. I'm using 10 of the 15 spots, each being used as 1 unit per plug. One of them is powering LED strips under my board. I know I could condense down to the 7. But I had the budget, and I'm 1000% future proof for power. As I add pedals to my board, and swap out for pedals that have higher power needs, I know that I have nothing to worry about for a long time.

VERTEX, When using cheap switching power supplies or switching power supplies in general they are using a chopper circuit which the high frequency switching frequency will pass through the power supply making it to the output port of the power supply which gets into the guitar pedal which overdrive, booster, distortion pedals will amplify this switching frequency plus the switching frequency will have harmonics. These harmonics will backfeed through all the guitar pedals downstream and upstream that are connected to the power supply ports. With daisy chain power supplies you have to "full load" connect all the ports because if you leave unused ports on a daisy chain the switching frequency harmonics gets worse so you have to use a dummy guitar pedals to just LOAD down the unused ports to put a load on the daisy chain power supplies to fix this problem. I have seen unused daisy chain ports have "termination resistors" soldered from tip to sleeve to put a LOAD to reduce the switching frequency/harmonics. It would be nice if you make a video lesson trying various daisy chain power supplies and connecting digital pedals with overdrive , distortion pedals because this is the real test. Digital pedals that use VGA, DSP, CPU, LFO to Clock circuits, etc doesn't mix well with overdrive and distortion pedals with daisy chain power supplies, but EE designers will know how to fix this problem besides using isolation transformers for each power supply port. This problem can be fix without using power supplies that have isolation transformers for each port.

I run 7 pedals off an Eventide PowerMini (made by Cioks). Zero issues and thankfully Cioks has cables to power 2 and 3 pedals off one output.

Hello sir ! Glad to find your YT channel.. If you don’t mind, I want to ask a few things. I just got my Neural DSP Quad Cortex, and recently I have my Eventide Power Factor 2. I’ve seen many post about how to turn on QC with cioks DC7. Can the same thing be done using Eventide Power Factor 2? I’ve seen the way is powering in parallel using 4 output ports @500mA 12V. In Eventide Power Factor 2, I think I have to use 6 ports to get a total of 2A. What do you think sir? your answer will save my life, so thank you very much ✌️✌️

I listened to a lot of this and this is great content! Do you see any issues with combining a compressor pedal with another low output analog pedal?
@VertexEffectsInc

As long as analog stays with analog and they're low current and no clocks, you should be ok.

I use one daisy chain for analog pedals (Overdrive, booster, analog chorus) and other daisy chain for digital pedals (delay tc2290p and reverb).

Is that a brand? Pedal Snake?
@robb0178
@robb0178 Год назад
Yes it’s a brand what they offer in simple terms is a loom that can carry audio, low voltage power and midi all through the same loom customisable to some extent to individual requirements. The interesting part I guess is the way they do the power and use of daisy chains, off board power supplies or if a eg Strymon is used the power from the units wall wort goes through the loom. It’s a really tidy look how well it really works I guess is up in the air.

Almost every pedal on my board has a clock - so I have to use a CS-12 and CS-6 on top of it to give everyone power. Is there a safe way to essentially make a split IEC power cord for both PSUs? I'd like to just have a single power cable to plug in.

Can you daisy chain several isolated power outputs on a single power brick to triple the current for a single 1300mA pedal. Recently bought the digitech whammy and would like to include it in my board.

Is an acoustic simulator ok for daisy chaining? Would this act as a drive in this respect? I have a power supply with 8 ourlets but getting another two being a rat and flanger. I was thinking the flanger should take one and the the BD2 to chain to the acoustic pedal and rat

So timely, just picked up a pair of TruTome C7 power supplies and trying to tun the MC 5 cable off it to feed and the pedals off of it don’t power up correctly. Time for a phone consult with goodwood!

But I connected a row of pedals together with patch leads. Then I put my multi meter on the center pin of the power input sockets and found they were connected (as the power center pin is grounded to the sleave of the signal sockets) . so my question is even if the power supply outputs are isolated once you connected them to pedals are they really still isolated or are they now connected via the pedals
@chrisb3976
@chrisb3976 6 дней назад
Since the Cioks dc7 has the onboard meter that lets you know information that you need to see why still install it under the board where you cant see it unless you have to lift up the board.
@Drtydeeds

Does a reverb pedal with a decay setting mean it has a clock? I assume “clock” means anything that with a parameter that is time based, but I just wanted to ask in case y’all get around to answering me.

I’ve noticed that analog pedals with digital control features can have noise when daisy chained.
@VertexEffectsInc
@VertexEffectsInc Год назад
Yes...digital (in any form) is normally a no-go when it comes to sharing, also their current needs tend to be quite high.

So boosts, overdrives and distortions make good daisy chain candidates if analog. But what are your thoughts on daisy chaining a buffer together with another pedal. Got me a Cioks DC7 so milli amps enough to power anything, but running short one port to power a buffer at the end of my pedal chain…

@squirelova1815 You can add more safely. Just make sure to power down and add 2 more, thereby avoiding the unlucky I only have 13 fuzz pedals scenario 😁

All of my low current pedals, fuzz, boost, distortion, wah I power with a cheap carbon/zinc battery. In my experience, they sound better on battery power, then I save my ISO-5 power supply for the high current, non battery powered or 18 volt pedals.
@VertexEffectsInc
@VertexEffectsInc Год назад
Depends on the pedal, we have a criteria we list on our video about out battery power supply (which takes carbon batteries) so you understand when it's actually doing something, or nothing. Many newer pedals have power supply caps on the DC input that carbon batteries or a high source impedance and current limited won't do anything because the pedal is designed to normalize irregularities in the power. Older pedals don't have this, or you can clip the power supply cap and then you have way more variability between supplies vs. batteries. Most pedals now won't have sensitivities to batteries like vintage pedals would.
