How to safely test AC electronics with current limiter - Dim Bulb Tester

When working on and repairing AC appliances and audio equipment, it often happens that the device under test might have a fault that causes excessive current draw and might trip the breakers or even worse, explode on your workbench.
To prevent this, a current limiter is used with an incandescent light bulb that is then wired in series with the device that we are testing and we want to the current limit.
This way, even in the case of a full-on short circuit, the current will be limited by the bulb and there won't be mishaps other than the bulb lighting up.
