dude its a 1000 times easier to chop the sample with the Session on the tracks original bpm. then you literally just click flex, automátic and change the Session bpm to its final. boom perfectly on grid and time

Lucky Patrick you're right. I found that that the bass sample sounded "off beat" like at the end it gets slower. Maybe he should use Flex Polyphonic to make sure the sample is on beat.

You don't need a video to explain it man, use your noggin! Find the tempo of your sample, set that as the tempo of your session. Then, chop your sample to your liking. Then change the tempo of your session to your actual project's tempo. Done.

This is totally true. There's even the "flex slice" mode (I think that's what it's called) that'll chop your sample for you at the transients (you'd have to rejoin regions for the bass line, but still).

A couple super handy quick keys for this situation and in general is CMD+U to set cycle locators by selection, CMD+T to split region by playhead, and Shift+Ctl+Brackets to trim region start to next (or previous) transient. Really helpful in speeding up the chopping and aligning process : )

i do, highlight the sample in edison and drag into the playlist to time stretch or fpc if i wanna play it like i would on an mpc

As a logic user, he's makin it look harder than it is.. I just put a bpm counter on the track and set session to that, then find the loop and cut it, set bpm as I please and flex sample to fit..

What if you have more than one sample, and they are all in different bpm. Wouldn't everything get clusterfucked when you change the bpm(for one of the other samples) of the project and you already have a sample flexed to it

I don't dislike videos often but here's why I did, something that's so easy to sample you complicated for no reason. Here's a tip for people that want an easier way to do this, use the bpm counter on the main track, cut it to fit into a loop, then make it an exs24 inst. and play it out to the tempo you want, finally use a pitch changer to have it at the tone you want. The sound will come out a lot better than this poorly done job especially by stretching the audio file... and him saying it takes time to sample this method takes very little time and sounds professionally done lol anyways peace

When looping a sample, I find its easier to find the original BPM and line that up with the bars in the project..if it's a four to floor house track like so, line up the kicks on beat with the metronome, cut the 4/8/16/32 bar you want, remember where the file ends on the track.. now change the BPM of the project and then time stretch/reduce the audio track to the size/length it was previously on the track on the last BPM. Hope this makes sense to a few people and helps because it's a much easier and quicker way to achieve this in logic.. *I have only taken the time to post this because this is my idea of giving back lol, all your video's sick imamusicmogul and are really helpful so massive respect and thank you!*

The difficult thing about sampling is knowing what to use and what not to use. It's EASY to deconstruct an existing song. What takes a tremendous work ethic, years of listening to music, chopping up beats, working with the most talented people in the world is actually creating a song from literally nothing.

At about 5:00 in the video you can alternatively just highlight 1 bar with the loop tool and select you audio track, then do CMD+OPTN+L and that will have essentially the same result, but you wont have to deal with that little dead space of audio that gets cut out

Have you ever thought about a series for beginners? I personally find it really hard to start, because i literally dont know anything about creating music. Should i maybe learn an Instrument first? And how should i start with creating music?

If there is any instrument you're going to learn I'd recommend the piano. There are endless tutorials on RU-vid on how to play. It would definitely pave the way for understanding music theory as well as developing a technical ability to perform music.

For those throwing shade on this tutorial.....The thing about tutorial videos, regardless if one uses extra steps, or different steps than you use... Its actually beneficial for those who are seriously trying to learn. Mankind could actually learn from this in theory. Man why did it take so long to cut that loop in the beginning? Is it the wav editor? I use old ass trusty Cool Edit Pro 2 lol, and I would have literally got the loop cut and ready to go in 2 seconds. Especially with how clean and apparent the original song had the sample show up as.
