😃 hey guys thanks so much for the kind words! We tried to keep it as fun as we could lol appreciate the support and you guys stopping by 😊👍🏼 - Kyle and Renee
Guy, we have this argument ALL the time!!! Natasha would agree that you should sanitize your water system at least every year. Love the tutorial! Great job guys.
Haha! Yes, the struggle is real lol definitely a good idea to stay up on the Sanitizing, we are always struggling with doing it 😄 you guys are too awesome, stay safe in your travels! Thank y’all for stopping by ❤️ - Renee and Kyle
We had such a hard time figuring out where our hot water heater bypass was and our user manual is not super user friendly. Y'all nailed it. Thanks so much for being helpful and entertaining.
Hey Kyle!! So glad that this was helpful 😃Yes, we found that we had a similar experience when first looking for our bypass as well! It's great to meet you! We hope that we can continue to hear from you again! Thank you so much for your support and comments! 🙂
Honestly we forget all of the time as well! It is something so simple, yet it seems to always slip our minds 🧐😄Thankfully it is a relatively easy process! Hope you guys got some good content, thank you JAG Family ❤️
I’m glad you developed this channel. While I will be retiring in a few months. We are considering a smaller trailer. Concepts you provide can apply as well. At my age I remember the “Outhouse “. My mother would add active yeast, which would break down waste somewhat. Doing this is like paying it forward. Keep up the good work.
Kyle and Renee, we see that you are getting close to the 1000 mark! We thought we would help out with the hours and binge watch your channel today! We will not be making comments, but we'll watch all your videos. Have a great day Lynn and Danny
Lynn and Danny thank you guys so so much ❤️❤️❤️ this is incredible of you both! We will pop over and do the same for you guys, we want you to get those watch hours too! Much love to you guys for everything, seriously you both rock 😊🙏 - Kyle and Renee
Tip. Make sure you carry a medical power of attorney and advance directive. We were camping on Carlsbad NM last year when my husband broke his clavicle which led to a pulmonary embolism which led to pneumonia and sepsis. As he was recovering, he fell and crushed his hip. Had an emergency hip replacement. Next was a mini stroke followed by a silent heart attack. Three hospitals and two medical flights. Thankfully we have wonderful medical insurance. We pay out the nose for it but it paid for itself last year. Things you never think will happen.
We were just discussing never drinking the fresh water tank water because it's not very sanitary. I wasn't even thinking about the hot water heater. Good call y'all. Thanks Hanks.
Hanks thank you! Yeah totally by passing the water heater is such a nice option to have. We are making a video soon on how to clean the water heater, thanks for the support friends 😊👍🏼 - Kyle and Renee
Good suggestions. I add a couple drops of bleach even in my 6 gal water jugs and a few drops in my dish pan which disinfects the drain hose and grey water jug.
That’s a great idea! Bleach is such a great thing to have, really gets the job done nicely! We appreciate you ❤️😊 thanks for stopping by! - Kyle and Renee
Seriously KYLE Pabst!!! Great info you two!! Way to take the drudgery of sanitizing the system and making it look interesting. Hope you two are doing well. Safe Travels!! 👍😎❤ Sean & Angie
Sean I have to keep it cheap, the struggle is real in the Hanks household 😂🤣😂🤣 no work and full time RU-vid has taken some of the finer things away from us like good beer LOL (I don’t judge, I’ll drink any beer) hehe Thank you both for the kind words, we appreciate you so much. Safe travels to you guys as well 😃✌🏼 - Kyle and Renee
Great explanation of how to clean the water system in your RV. The set up with the different colored knobs and diagram of how to turn each to do the different water functions is really nice. Ours rig doesn’t have that, but is explained in the manual. Chasing RV Sunshine ☀️ Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Yeah we had the same thing as you guys in our last rig, definitely is a nice upgrade (but maybe we are a little too spoiled now) 😊 haha! Thank you all for stopping, much love from the Hanks - Kyle, Renee and Dexter 😺
That’s awesome, sometimes we forget to do ours for a little and then we have to play catch up lol we you guys are so great for being here :) appreciate you! - Kyle and Renee
Dear Renee and Carlyle...thanks for another excellent video. I don't have a Grand Design, but now I know to look up the process for our RV. We found out, this last weekend, that you can't forget to use the black tank wash-out feature, like we did on our previous trip...holy smokes! (Actually, you would not have wanted to light up a smoke because I think our RV would have gone into rocket engine mode) (We don't smoke) (Please don't judge us) Thanks.
LOL 😂 🤣👌🏼🙌🏼 Bob… literally the best comment ever! We are rolling laughing right now, no judgment at all! Glad you guys were able to figure that out!! It’s always a never ending lessons that we learn from the RV life right? 😄 We always find ourselves learning everyday!! Keep these wonderful comments coming, you’re hilarious!
I might just add bleach to my water in amounts used to sanitize drinking water. So for my 40 gallon tank, that would be about 1 tablespoon (or maybe a bit less even like 2-1/2 teaspoons) of household bleach (and use it like that, no rinsing or flushing). Also, I think people make a big mistake when they use a filter when adding city water to their tank, the water needed the chlorine to remain safe in the city water system, and our RVs need the chlorine in our fresh water tank as well, of course some of that gasses off while filling it, thus the thought of adding a bit more here and there. It is easy enough to remove bleach with a filter at the kitchen faucet with any type of charcoal filter or filtering pitcher. Of course you are correct in your video that the proper recommendation is to sanitize, but I know of villages that many of the homes use a water tank system, and they aren’t flushing every year…of course the water from the water delivery truck has a strong smell of chlorine bleach. Just some thoughts I was having anyway, I like to keep things simple when possible.
This is fantastic Travis! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out for us and everyone reading. We really appreciate your insight and support 😃🙌🏼 keep these wonderful tips coming, we hope to hear from you again soon. Cheers!! - Kyle and Renee
Sherie, to be honest for the longest time...I thought your name had to do with the card game UNO 😄I think that is such an awesome name you came up with! You are definitely cool in our book, it's so great to be able to meet you by name! We appreciate you Sherie, stay safe and talk again soon - Kyle and Renee
Hi guys, great video, very informative and great fun to watch. We have something in the UK called Puriclean which we use every 6 months. TYFS. Best wishes Sue, Brian and The Westies👍🐶🐾😀
Great info and very true. Sanitizing is very important! Hey y’all are fast approaching the 1,000 sub mark!!! Congrats! Happy Thanksgiving week as well!!! 😊❤️🦃
Yes, definitely important to stay up on the sanitizing :) Hey guys thank so much!!! We are super excited for what's to come! Happy Thanksgiving week to you guys as well, stay safe and enjoy ❤️😃Much love from the Hanks family - Kyle and Renee
Great information I wasn't aware of. I wonder if doing this and then taking the rig for a drive to splash it around to get all around the tank as well would be a good idea.....?
😂 we appreciate you guys! Thank you so much for stopping by. You guys also brought an awesome tip this week. Love how much you guys have to offer, keep up the great work ❤️ thank you guys so much! - Kyle and Renee
One other tip is for part-time people need to make sure they empty their lines from anti-freeze from winterization and do this before the start of the season.
Hey Mike this is a great point, thank you for the insight! It's great to meet you, we hope we can hear from you again soon Mike! Thank you for the support - Renee and Kyle
If you don't have the Nautilus system that siphons you can simply empty the hose of water, pour 1 cup of bleach into the hose, then hook it up to your RV and fill your tank. All that bleach will go directly into your fresh water tank. Thanks Hanks!
Hey Tammi! That’s awesome to hear 🙂 Well hopefully we can meet up with you guys sometime on the road! Keep these great comments coming, we hope to hear from you again soon!
What is the point of pumping out the entire fresh water tank(into holding tanks) after the water and bleach solution has been in there for 8-12 hours? Could you not just dump the fresh tank ,drain low point drains, refill fresh tank with fresh water(add vinegar to help with to remove bleach taste). Pump fresh water through lines to get bleach water out. This would reduce the amount of bleach water in your holding tanks. I would think bleach in holding tanks would mess with the Microbiology of the holding tanks.
Is it possible to use vinegar or something more natural instead of bleach when sanitising the water lines and tank? I'm not very familiar with usung bleach and honestly it makes me a little nervous haha
Hey thank you so much!! Hope it was entertaining enough to sit through. It definitely is an important one :) You are so awesome for the continued support, much love from the Hanks ❤️- Kyle and Renee
Hey Brad and Diana!! Thank you guys so much for giving the awesome tip! We are so happy to see you guys here as always, it means so much ❤️Much love from the Hanks - Renee and Kyle 😊
That's a thing? Hmmm, I guess it is. We've only filled our fresh water once and drained it when we ended our boondocking excursion. We don't boondock often. I probably should do a thorough cleaning on it just the same. Great video. :)
Thanks for watching!! When we had our first RV it was almost 1.5 years before we decided to sanitize, just cleans out all the faucet really well especially if you drink water from them 👍🏼 ~Renee and Kyle
So glad we found this video! After 5 camping seasons (we are weekend warriors at the moment) we will be using our fresh water tank in just a couple weeks while boondocking for the first time in our Grand Design Imagine! This video will definitely come in handy! 👏👏
This is wonderful to hear!! It's so nice to meet you guys 😃 Thank you for your awesome support! What model of the Imagine do you guys have?? We started off in a 2150 RB 😀
This was the first video someone actually talked about that!! Lol I’m literally watching all kinds of videos as I’m downsizing all my stuff 😳🤣 loving this process, so freeing!!
LOL it's easy to forget! We always seem to let ours go a little longer than it should. Hopefully it goes smoothly for you guys!! Thanks for stopping by :) - Renee and Kyle
At some point, you guys made a video where you forgot to fill your water tank and you borrowed a pump and bucketed water in. BUT, Couldn't you have used this feature to pump water in, w/o borrowing a pump🤔? 🤯
Hmmm 🤔We both can't recall borrowing a pump. We did however siphon water at a state park in Idaho if that is what you are referring to 🙂 In this video, we also siphon the water treatment into the holding tank via the same method
Hey there! Great question 😀👍🏼 we don’t like overfilling our tanks to the point of the overflow releasing water... reason being is because this can over pressurize your tanks So once we have the solution in the holding freshwater tank, we usually fill it up to about 3/4 of the way full 😃👍🏼 Hope this is of some clarification, rule of thumb is just don’t overflow your tanks
I just learned I wish I had your water system. Ours is all manual except for the water heater. I did like the water treatment concept to clean it. great video on this. ❤️👍👏 Donovan & Jodi
Yes, we are spoiled right now with the P1 Nautilus. At first when buying this rig, I was like “that looks confusing,” but we quickly realized how convenient it is! Thank you both for stopping by! Stay safe 👍🏼🙂🙏🏼👊🏼 - Kyle and Renee
Thanks man! Yeah they take some planning and preparation for sure, but they make the video pop and it’s worth it in the end! We try to keep boring videos as entertaining as possible lol 😂 thanks for watching!! You are always so awesome for the support 😊
You discovered my channel. I was actually connected but darn it I forgot to turn that bell on. It's on now. No more missing your videos. This is all great information. We will actually be Boondocking so we always want to make sure that we have good clean fresh water. We are actually trading in our Class A for a 30ft Fifth Wheel. We head out full-time December 16th. We are headed to Quartzsite, Arizona for the Winter. My channel is all about finding Handicapped Accessible Places and inspiring everyone to get out and enjoy life. And Miss Abby is a rescue so through the donations and membership she will be helping local Animal Shelter and I raise money to help disabled people. This new Season as we hit the road. I'll be doing hard-core Handicapped Accessible reviews.
This is truly incredible of you. You have such a big heart ❤️ we are so happy to hear you are hitting the road full time in just a few weeks!! We are sure you are a huge inspiration to many and we will be sure to follow behind you for support. Thank you so much for stopping by, we are really happy to meet you! - Kyle and Renee
Hey Charlene, I am not familiar with any other sanitizing solution other than bleach. Usually after a thorough flushing, you can use PH test strips to ensure that the bleach is completely flushed out! 😃
Love the shock value....I mean PBR? Two words my friend...Shiner. It's this thing down here in Texas that we call "beer" and goes great with another delicacy we call "Whataburger". Now neither of these helpful life tips will do anything for you with your holding tanks but your street cred will skyrocket! Good info here and something we "part-timers" have been discussing. Another fun fact: did you know there is a "Hanksville" in Utah? Google it.
LOL LOL I'm on a budget 😂No work has taken me to new lows and those lows include PBR. Still works though, I'll drink any beer. I miss my IPA's though! Thanks for the heads up on the street cred, I need as much as I can get 😄Yes! We have totally heard of Hanksville, we actually drove past it one time. We appreciate you guys! Thank you so much for stopping by and giving us a laugh lol - Kyle and Renee
@@ConsidertheWonders if I am on the west coast I love either Deschutes (Fresh Squeezed IPA- Bend, Oregon) or Sierra Nevada (Hazy Little Thing IPA - Chico, California) While on the road I usually stick with Rogue or try some new IPA wherever we might be located. What is your go to? Do you like IPA’s?
@@HappilyEverHanks go-to is lager. There are some great breweries here in Tejas. Lakewood, FourCorners, & WildAcre are some that come to mind. Shiner or Blood and Honey are staples and ales are all golden for me. I may cheat on my tastebuds while traveling and will dip into the dark side with a Black and Tan. Lately been into whiskey and now prefer old fashions w/Woodford.
@@ConsidertheWonders Renee loves the black and tans! I will drink just about anything, I am not too picky. Those all sound really good! Also, I recently have been getting into some Whiskey as well. My buddy showed me a brand called Obon. Really enjoyed that taste for just a laid back sipping drink. Thanks for sharing with us! We will let you know when we get in the area of Tejas 🤙🏼 Stay safe guys! 😃- Kyle and Renee
Hi what if your Rv has no Fresh water holding tanks? My Rv is a 1986 Park model that is hooked up to a garden hose. The only holding tank it has is for the Black water. The gray water Drains right out
Yeah definitely important to bypass the heater! Absolutely you guys :) Thank you so much for stopping by, so happy it was valuable content for you guys! - Kyle and Renee
Thanks Corey and Jodi for stopping by! Appreciate the awesome feed back 🙌🏼 we try to keep it as entertaining as possible lol stay safe guys! - Kyle and Renee
Awesome! This is so great to hear :) we try our hardest to keep the boring topics fun, so it really means a lot that you guys mention this! Thank you both so much ❤️ - Renee and Kyle
Aww thank you guys!! It will definitely come, we still learn so much all the time! Before you know it, everything will be second nature for ya 😊Your kind words mean so much to us! Cheers - Kyle and Renee
Y’all are so fun! I don’t have an RV but maybe one day! However, I’ll be watching for more because you’re just too fun! Thanks for being you! Xo, Sabra
Hey Sabra! You are so awesome for stopping by and hanging with us for a few :) we are glad it is entertaining at least lol much love from the Hanks family ❤️👍🏼 - Kyle, Renee and Dexter
AWESOME video! Thanks so much, as I'm designing my own to fill that gutted '78 Nomad, the hot water bypass totally slipped my mind! Just gonna pencil that in... Gotta catch up with you guys on the road one of these days and show ya what your videos helped me build! :-)
