@@theindiemusiclab hi, can you do a video on how to use the pigments appergiator to appergiate a different vst inside Studio One. I only found videos on ableton but nothing on Studio One

Yeah that’s definitely a valid way of doing it! I personally prefer to use FX channels but it really would be nice if Studio One allowed you to send those to reverb channels. I generally don’t mind using a reverb directly on the fx channel because I don’t have that many different delays set up in a single session.

Yes you can do it with as many tracks as you like :) And remember, you can always transform back to the original if you want to make some changes to the plugins.

You’re very welcome! And yep that’s exactly what I do with my individual tracks when I use Addictive Drums. It works beautifully... Here’s a pro tip btw in case you weren’t aware of this... if you record multiple parts on the same track in Superior Drummer (ex. kick + snare + hat) then if you right click on the midi file... there’s an option to “explode pitches to tracks” and that will put every individual element on a separate track which you can then transform those tracks to audio and that allows you to mix it like it’s a real drum kit instead of bouncing the full kit to audio. On a recent song, I was able to assign each track of SD3 to a channel for doing editing for volume and using buses and sends, however, at the top, I don't see a way of getting each track of the drums going across from left to right to show up or "explode"; there's only one drum track, although each drum shows up down below. Know how to make them all there?

Yeah I think I know what you’re talking about. You should still be able to “explode pitches to tracks” even if you’re sending the elements from Superior Drummer to separate channels in your mix window... have you tried right clicking on your drums midi files in your timeline and finding the “explode pitches to tracks” option? I think it’s in one of the subcategories when you right click on any midi file. Hope that answers your question :)

I have a problem when exporting my songs from S1 Pro; the exported audio levels are about half that of the original mix. I have tried various options: . All my mixer levels are good and I have tried with/without individually trimmed HF/LF /Mids on EQ. . I export to wav, MP 3 etc using the default selections, I try 16/24/32 bit sampling and record/export on 44.1 and 48 kHz accordingly. . I have selected / deselected real time processing option prior to export. . After export, MPlayer effects are selected off and on groove player I have to select all groove EQ to max for any comparable audio levels. . Putting the wav audio onto video editor (tried various - shotcut, wondershare...) the audio levels are half that of original mix again and using video editor's gain up to 4.5 dB results in clipping whilst not achieving original audio levels...I am pushing the audio level on a mix that is already at its highest possible unclipped pre-exported level to a low post-export audio level. . I drop the exported S1 wav into my FL 20 and the levels are that of original mix. Exporting from FL 20 results in same low audio level. . I have tried all things that I can think of and it is doing my head in. I have done a few searches and quite a few people have similar problems without any definitive resolution. . Thanks! .

I know first hand how frustrating these audio problems are and I love that you’re trying hard to solve the problem you’re dealing with. Now I’m not exactly sure what the culprit is here, but let me start with a couple questions and let’s get this thing figured out :) First off, when you export your mix from S1, what is the average volume level? Not where the peaks are, but approximately where are those two little white lines bouncing at? Ideally, it should be somewhere in the -10 to -15 range for a mix. Secondly, are you saying that if you load said exported file into an empty session in your daw and click play that the overall volume level is much lower in volume than it was prior to mixing it down?

@@theindiemusiclab Hi! Thank you for getting back to me, and so quickly. I really appreciate it. .My levels average -12 to -15 with limiter on master, the odd peak at +1.7. . It is when I open the exported wav file outside the daw that the audio level is about half the original daw mix level. I was planning on using the exported wavs for music videos but its pretty hopeless with the lower levels; like painting in colour and printing it in black and white :(

Of course! This is most definitely a fixable problem. So am I understanding you correctly that you want your track to be at a master level volume? Since the average volume for any given mastered track will generally be around -3-6 db (in contrast to the -10 to -15 for a mix) Are you comparing your mix level with compressed and fully mastered songs? Because there will definitely be a substantial volume difference there. If you want to, could you maybe email me a Google drive or Dropbox link of your track? It’s hard to know. I would say if other VST’s seem to be fine and it’s just the Native one that freezes up, that’s probably a sign that it’s a VST problem more than a CPU problem.

Nah haha I threw this track together real quick for the sake of this tutorial and I was having a really hard time getting it to glitch so I threw a bunch of the most cpu eating plugins I have on the tracks 😂 Mac > PC all dayyy

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble! It’s probably saying “1 of 3” because you have 3 separate midi clips on that 1 track. I often like to select the clips and hit (command B) on Mac, or just right click and choose “bounce” and then when you transform that track, it’ll render as a single audio clip instead of 3

Although that doesn’t fix the problem of it taking so long to transform to audio. Let me know if the problem persists

@@theindiemusiclab thank you. It worked quick in your tutorial so I thought it will be quick. I’m new to studio one.I do most stuff on reason except mixing due to DSP. I bought studio one last week and used smack attack on 5 drums and bounce compression and sugar plug-in drum bus preset on the drum mixbus and the CPU shoots up to red. Is studio one this slow? My buffer size is high and still it’s slow. It wasn’t like this when I tried protools.

I don’t remember but I think I may have sped that up when I edited the video so it might not be quite as fast as you think. However, it should transform your tracks relatively quickly. Wow it definitely shouldn’t hit the red so quickly. I’m not sure what to suggest if it’s that bad. Maybe your computer just isn’t fast enough for studio one? In any case, I know how frustrating these things are and it sucks. I’m not sure how to help you in this instance, but I truly hope you find a way to fix the problem.

Hey I was working on a song of mine today and I realized that I misremembered how to merge the midi clips… using the bounce feature does NOT work for midi. You want to use the “merge” feature to connect multiple midi files in a track to one file, and then to connect different audio clips on the same track, THAT’s when I use the bounce feature… so the merge option just works on midi, while the bounce option works on audio… sorry if I confused you!

Hmm while I have noticed a slight change when it comes to bouncing tracks from Impact or SampleOne, everything else I believe has been the same as in version 4. Sorry I don’t have more insight for you
