This was so interesting with understanding which seeds to harvest, which to keep and which not to. I also, didn't think about how important a constant temperature was, I keep mine in a cool room, but bring them out to a warmer room on occasion, sometimes for a day or two. I will be more careful now. Thanks for this!
So neat to see you on the Epic Gardening site! Perfect to have different great gardeners work together! AND since I live in Mesa AZ I especially appreciate this collaboration
Thank you for your detailed seed harvesting with tips throughout. When the seeds hadn't fully developed and you found last year's seeds - it's that detail and caring that entices me to view every video you share. I'm 9b. Tytytytytyty
I discovered an easy way to sort out lettuce seeds. I cut off the top of the stalks. Put them in a big paper grocery bag. Folded it up, and shook like crazy. A few seconds later, all the seeds were at the bottom. It was very fluffy, so do it outside.
I love the moment you discovered the hornets nest and reacted so calmly. I’ve been stung and it’s seriously painful. I understand that some have allergies… we do neeed to remember they are still pollinators and have their place in our food chain. Love you stuff! I was in Phoenix for forever. Now I’m doing my gardening in Tucson. A little different but your information is great!
Thank you! Cosmos has to be one of my favorite flowers to save seed's from. Also, any type of basil plants. I cut the entire plant to the ground once I have secured the plant in a large paper bag. Flip the plant over and shake the bag like crazy. The seeds will be in the bottom. What's left of the plant goes back on the ground once I've cut the seed pod's off. So simple. Thank you for encouraging me to try and save some new seed's.
Thanks for all of the great info about saving seeds! I've found that saving seeds has been the best way to get my kiddo interested in the garden. Like you, she fell in love with marigolds and has been very excited to save her own seeds this year ❤
Thank you, I like your easy style of saving the seeds in the paper bags. Marigold seeds were my first seeds I saved. They also got me hooked on saving seeds, too!
Love your videos & all the teaching material you provide. Your food reminds me of another great gardener on Sweet Tomato Vine Homestead channel you ladies both have great videos.
I love your videos you have an amazing channel I love that you showing how to save seeds I haven't seen videos of seed saving. I wish I can be there in you area so you can share some seeds with me 😅 all my plants also suffered with this awful heat I am in texas not even my corn made it the tassels were burn to a crisp maybe I am going to buy a shade cloth for next year. I love your informative videos got me hook. 😊
Your seed saving tips were super helpful and detailed. Thank you! I’m saving seeds from my garden to share at my neighbor’s Little Free Garden (like the Little Free Libraries but this is for garden-related things to share). For some, I didn’t know what the seeds looked like until you showed it in the video! Thanks and I’ll be sure to subscribe to learn more! 🌱💚
Hi sure. I get the hand-watering wand at Home Depot. www.homedepot.com/p/Orbit-33-in-Shower-Wand-with-Shut-Off-Antique-Black-27841/300210156 and I use the garden grids from Garden in Minutes in all of my raised beds. As always you gave lots of great information in a short amount of time- love watching your videos! I am in zone 3b northern NY, and still pick up lots of great tips!
Great question! I just peeked under the mulch to check on the crops and they are breaking down well and there are a lot of worms too. Happy soil for sure!
Hello Angela! Thank you for sharing this valuable info. I have lots of large radish seeds that I would like to share with you, should I just drop it in your PObox? 🤗
Hi - we don’t get hard enough freezes here to warrant that. Check the garden in minutes website - they may have more information about what to do in cold climates to prevent damage.
So to save your seeds you brown bag them first then mason jar? Also any method to your madness when you started trimming your roses? You are such a wealth of info, just wished we were in the same zone. (SW Oklahoma 7 )
Yes, usually paper bag first and then mason jars or paper envelopes. In the fall I give the roses a light trim all over, cutting off any crossing or damaged branches and cutting back most branches by about 1/3 above 5 sets of leaves. Thanks for watching!
Even thought we are the same zone, i feel like its so much more humid here in Florida. I wonder if i will have the same results (give or take) in my garden
Tempe AZ here! I am growing basil in a container currently, but am noticing that it's starting to be attacked by a couple of small Ggreen caterpillars. What would you suggest st this point? I moved it inside for right now 🤷♀️
