Hello, do you have any tutorials on how to Start using a Pro license? You see I am interested in making my own (personal) reports and sharing reports with other people but I have no idea where to start... :(
Hey, one more alternate option for SQL is to use ODBC. That does not require adding a new Gateway connections in the settings. The existing personal Gateway connection should do the job
Hey, if you are working in an organization, check if you can setup enterprise gateway. Ideally the enterprise gateway name (once you setup enterprise gateway as in the vide) should appear in cluster
Created personal gateway, still cannot see any value in the "Gateway cluster name" dropdown. What is the issue. Have you created a clsuter name separately before this video ??
Was able to do it without creating a new cluster name. I didn't create a new cluster name because my "SQLSERVERName\DatabaseName" already was reflecting on the left. Maybe you could do that too?
No! Your pc needs to be on and connected to internet for personal gateway to work. You would need onPrem gateway to refresh even when your pc is turned off.
Thank you for your prompt response. The on premise enterprise gateway can be installed on my pc and the refreshes would be done even when I am logged off or it has to be installed to a server for example?
It is because in Power BI service it's design principles are set to be to refresh the dataset only, ultimately you have created the reports based on the dataset only. So, if you refresh the dataset, the visuals in the reports gets updated. Might answer your question.
when you select Windows authentication what password you are providing Windows Authentication will now have a password. I am having issues creating a successful connection to SQL.
