Financial Reporting Strategy - CA Final! | MCQs? Lectures? Resources? Revisions? Mock tests? Time Allotment? Exam Day Strategies?
• Lectures: You won't remember anything through your lectures in FR, since it would be the 1st subject and huge time gap b/w lectures and self study. Prefer NOT buying lengthy lectures. Only 2 things are important in lectures: Making Concept Notes and Filtering Questions!
• Resources: Initially VSI concept notes and ICAI Module Questions. Then combined Ajay Agarwal concept notes, so that I can cover all questions concepts, so that less questions are left to be marked. After doing 100% syllabus, did extra questions from Pratik Jagati's Question Bank!
Do QB only at last, so that you are able to do it in 20% of the time that you would have taken if done at the start!
• Self Study: Start self study only after completing all subjects lectures, don't keep it in b/w lectures, otherwise you will forget what you studied. Read concept notes of a chapter, try to understand it, and if, a particular topic looks typical, then watch a revision video ONLY for that particular topic of chapter and NOT whole. This way you will save a lot of your time!
After understanding whole chapter notes, start filtering questions from ICAI module: Questions which can be done based on concept notes, just cross them, and tick questions which you couldn't do in 1st go!
In next revision, only do ticked questions again, and if you were able to do them in 1st go, cross them. Repeat this in every revision, and ta-da you should have very limited questions to be seen in those 1.5 days!
• Time Allotment, Mock Test & Revision:
1st: Allot 15 days for 1st reading, do it same as above, 1st concept notes then revision video for that particular topic and finally filtering out questions.
Give mock test after 15 days! This is where majority of the students do a mistake! They don't pressurize themselves to complete a subject in given days and then keep on extending the days, only to realize, they don’t have much days left!
Mock test will keep you under check and pressurize you to study well to score well.
Follow ABC, which means, do A category chapters 1st, then B, then C, so that in 15 days even your A&B is done, you can still give your mock test and keep C for 2nd revision, but do not extend those 15 days!
2nd: Reduce your time to half! So its 8 days now! Possible only if you filter out more questions in every revision. Again the same strategy as above!
First revise things that you have already done in your previous revision, and only if the time allows, take up new topics, DO NOT do vice versa. Give your mock at the decided time, no extensions!
Continue your revisions like above, reducing time by half for every revision and see the MAGIC!!!
• Special points:
1. Write 3-4 lines for every IND AS question
2. Write 2-3 words for journal entries narration
3. Follow Ajay Agarwal rounding off summary
• Mock Test Marks: My VSI Mock Test Marks: 1st (with articleship): 49 marks, 2nd: 72, 3rd: 91, ICAI: 66 Marks!
• Exam Days Strategy (4 days):
Day 1: Revise all concepts
Day 2&3: Revise all questions
Day 4 evening: Revise extra questions and MTP 2
Time left: Revise all concepts again!
MCQ: Won't suggest studying anything extra for MCQs. Your concept notes cover them to an extent. Just wait for any faculty to release important points for MCQs and you can just refer that!
15 mins & 3 hours planning: Can refer to my previous video for detailed strategy!
Remember: It is better to do 60-70% syllabus 2 times than to do 100% syllabus 1 time! The earlier you realize this, the earlier you would be a CA!!!
Note: This was my personal strategy. Rankers are all diverse! Every strategy works provided you are consistent and believe in it. You will do it 💪
