Dino Walker You’re very welcome. Glad I can help out through my videos. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Thank you, glad you liked it. I have never seen it done with the adhesive wet but I have not seen it all.... yet. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thank you very much!! I appreciate the kind words. I do not have a specific foil to recommend, no. Not yet. As we open the storefront I will probably source one. Please stay tuned. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. The foils hold up the best actually if we compare metallic plastisol inks to heat transfer foils. They hold their luster and metallic look much better than most metallic plastisol inks will. But your transfer application will determine how well the foil adheres to the shirt. So you just have to make sure you’re applying the foil correctly and it should hold up very well throughout washings for many years. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thank you very much for the kind words. I’m happy to help out and share information anytime. Normally with plastisol inks it’s purely a matter of curing. I would check the cure first and make sure the entire ink layer is reaching 330 F for up to a minute or so depending on ink thickness. If you are printing heavy cotton in a humid region then you can preheat the garments to reduce humidity which will help the final cure. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Awesome, thank you! It would be higher than that of a standard print. The exact amount would depend on the garment and your market area. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
I like your tutorials , you are very generous with the info you give. I have question, someone I know has started to print t-shirts. He is having a problem with his adhesion of plastisol, should he be pre heating the garment to avoid the ink coming off? What other info do you have for him please.
I was wondering about printing a water based image with a foil image inside ? actually a chrome foil wheel with a white wall tire done in water based ink around it. what kind of problems would occur doing this? thanks, love all your videos I've watched most of them
Thank you, glad you enjoy my video work. Please make sure to subscribe ;) I’m not really sure. I have never done that exactly. There are probably many ways to work that out. I don’t work with water based inks much. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Can you print foil transfer and another regular plastisol ink? Like make 2 colors foil gold and white. How to do that? Could you please have some video.
Hey I'm stopping by to say I like your work real clean explained pretty clear but I have a question I wanted to know where did you pick up your shirts my brother and I have been looking for a reasonable supplier for some shirts I hope you have some that you can recommend
Thank you!! I do not... LOL. I use a local supplier who does not have the best pricing but I save on shipping ;) But you can try Alpha online. The more you buy the better deals you get. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Thank you, glad you enjoyed. As long as the adhesive is dry to the touch, you should be able to do that. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
You’re welcome. Eventually I may make another foil video with a better product that will peel cold and not flake ;) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Nice video! thinking about doing some foil prints with my line up now. This question has nothing to do with this video but I do all of my work in my apartment and the tub is basically my cleaning station. And I was wondering if there is some product to get the stains of ink and emulsion out of my tub? Thanks and great videos!
Great video! Thanks very much! I wonder if it washes well? Does it say you have to hand wash? Otherwise i'm guessing you may get little flakes of the foil coming off.Looks real nice!
That is the Secret Society Logo designed after the Freemason’s imagery. The 7 at the top represents me. The 20 07 is the year, 2007, when the business was founded on paper. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
+Carol Roullard Thank you! I'm not sure. I have never foiled real silk. You would have to do some testing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
+Jeff Thurber Thank you! I don't really know. I'm a direct screen printer. But I'd probably look at Epson. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Actually in testing it did it when I let it cool so in the video I pulled it hot. It did the same thing. It seems some will work very well hot while others need to cool. Most foils I have worked with were pulled hot and worked just fine without any flaking around the edges. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Glad to know you and see your video, can i ask when need to heat after finish the printing ? Why not heat press after printing when its wet ? I thought that would achieve better adhesion or not ?
It depends on the foil adhesive you are using. Follow the instructions for the foil adhesive you buy. It may vary some by maker. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Most will suggest to let it cool for best adhesion but this stuff was sticking to the adhesive when I laid it over just to cut it to size. I’ve never really let foils cool much and I have had no problems with adhesion. If you have any problems with the foil sticking then let it cool and use a rag to rub down the foil over the adhesive with slight pressure. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Hello! I’m not sure what you mean by stencil because screen printing is a stenciling process. But yes you can use multiple application methods on one garment if the subsequent applications won’t damage the previous ones. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
Thank you very much, I appreciate your support! Oh I dunno, maybe Stahls has a good foil to use ;) I don't recall the temp. Probably around 350 F but you should follow the instructions for the particular foil you buy. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Oh yes, cooling will help with adhesion. You can even rub it down with a cool rag to help out. But not all foils need cooling to work well. Many foil techniques are done on press immediately after flash curing where the foil is presses and pulled up very quickly by hand as the press is often running. In my case I had some stray foil dust that came off with the foil transfer and had to be dusted away. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thank you I appreciate your support greatly. I’m sorry i do not do such small orders. It’s not practical for the amount of work put into it. There are many places online that will make one shirt for you. I can send you send you free Catspit tee perhaps if you message me. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
My pleasure to help out where I can but I'm not a chemist. This was a foil adhesive. I do not know what it is made of. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
I know all about the Yudu. There is a review on that on my website in the Article Archive section. It is not well suited for commercial work. It is a total hobby unit that can be difficult to work with and expensive. The supplies is where they get you. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
hi, I'm a student, and now I'm writing my diploma about transter foil on textile. Can you told me, what kind (name or lable) of adhesive do you use? It's very help me, please
I notice your heat press is that a HIX 400? would you recommend a HIX 400 over a 240.00 dollor digital heat press off ebay? thanks I am trying to get into the foil and have tried doing it with an iron but have had no luck with that method so i am looking at an older hix mini 400 or a new cheapo ebay press. thanks
Jonathan, I have a piece of artwork that I want to print using foil and plastisol. It's a two color print, planned to be either red foil and white ink or, vise versa, silver foil with red ink. What I'm asking is, is there a trick or a technique to achieve the desired look without having to take the shirt off the press? For instance, print the ink or adhesive for the foil first, iron the foil to the shirt and then finish printing the design. Am I making sense? What are your thoughts? THANX! Eric Millikan
Hey there... feel free to email or call me if you need help. Or contact me through Facebook ;) I believe I helped you with this on FB. I get a lot of comments on RU-vid so it takes me some time to get to them all. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
not sure if its the textile weave showing through the foil at the end, if you printed a base, white etc. under the foil adhesive would the foil have a smoother finish maybe? Can you print the adhesive over printed colors or over white plast..?
Most heat transfer foils will adhere to any color plastisol ink. The foil adhesive is used because it has a better ability to adhere to the foil. The finish of the foil will only be a smooth as the finish of the under print. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Not this specific method, no. This is for textiles. Doing this on paper would require a different process. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
What is the name of the material that the gel-like what its name and developed the first t-shirt Before that place metallic transfer foil It is a very wonderful work
Well, I’m not sure I can do such a video for you specifically but most foils actually wash pretty well. Normally if you want a metallic look that lasts we do foil rather than metallic inks. Over some time it may crack but they wash well in my experience. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Hi Catspit! was wondering if you could just use plastisol ink itself as the adhesive for the foil. i heard it could be done. are they full of it? thanks.
doubleddrummer That is true for some foils. If it's a good foil it will adhere to any plastisol ink or foil adhesive. Many people actually print the same color ink as the foil so that as the shirt ages and the foil eventually comes off it will still have the right color underneath. It should stay on for many years but it will ultimately crack and flake as it becomes brittle. But by that time the user of the shirt will likely have lost interest in it ;) Thanks for watching. Screen PrintingEquipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
How do you take out the wrinkles on the foil, already printed on the shirt. I have a sweater with printed on foil but it's fairly big. Now it has all sorts of wrinkles on it and I want to take it out so it looks as smooth as possible, i don't want to use and iron or anything harming. What can I do? Thanks :)
I don't think you can do anything. If the foil is wrinkled or cracked, it will never be smooth and shiny like when you first bought it. An iron would likely melt it and doing it from the back probably will not achieve want you want. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Frances Hobbs If the foil adheres to standard plastisol inks as well then you can use the same color ink or the clear plastisol base. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Currently I do not stock this since I do little with heat transfer products. But a supplier like myself will likely have it. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

Ok Here's How I can help You Cat.1st off turn the heatpress and dryer on before You set up so they are ready once You have set up and done You're 1st test print, which would just be semi cured from the flashcure .With My 35 years of experience with foil printing is Turn the dryer temp down too 300 degrees for 45 seconds and when pressing the foil 325 for 30 seconds and peel cold .
Very cool. Thanks for the tips. I’ve used a lot of different foils as well. This one was a cheap import I didn’t like. But a good foil will peel clean even hot. Like the one’s used on automatics to do foiling between flashes and other colors. I don’t have a call for it much. Thank you! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Thank you! You could use a flash cure unit to cure the adhesive. And there are heat transfer vinyl’s that will achieve a foil effect with patterns if you want as well. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
when i use plastisol adhesive, I've tried so many ways, to get the best result, but after the heatpress process there are always left plenty of flakes, the foil not peel completely. so i try with waterbased adhesive, the results are better than using plastisol adhesive. i'm successfully with waterbased adhesive for a thousand foil print.
Yes, as long as the transfer foil is the type that will stick to standard plastisol inks. A lot of people use the same color plastisol ink under the same color foil so that in the future if it were to crack or flake the color would still be the same. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Hard to say without seeing the print. Could be off contact or something else. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
I really wouldn’t know. That would be an experiment for sure. I couldn’t answer your questions as I have never done anything like you propose. You could try it but wood is absorbent to water and chemicals so you might need a set of block prints that are lacquered or something. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
a question :D how u only print the image when u push the white signal? why the other white signal can't appear on the t shirt? well if u didn't understand i mean now u put the t shirt and the screen print above it now u will try to print the image but u must the white liquid in all the screen print box... so how u only print the image and the t shirt don't change from black to white if u push the white liquid all over it?!
You might be able to use emulsion remover and haze remover to clean it up some. Then I would move to scouring bleach. But normally the washout booth gets pretty dirty.... forever. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Actually that is not always the case. I think higher quality foils will work better than this one. You can actually apply this stuff on press as the shirts pass a flash cure unit. In bigger shops they slow down the automatic press enough so someone can do this during printing. It’s pretty amazing and I have worked with foils in the past that peel hot and perfectly crisp. So I suppose it depends on the foil. I tried this foil cool, did the same thing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Hello! If you don't have the oven to cure the glue, how long does it take the glue to set just with air drying or with hair dryer/Heat Gun? Thank you! :D
+j Kon It's a plastisol adhesive so it will never air dry alone. It needs to be heat set. A heat gun might do it but you'll need a heat press to do the foiling. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Actually it washes well. I would hand wash inside out for the best longevity. But they can be normally laundered. They just won’t last as long as a standard plastisol print. You shouldn’t have foil flakes but rather the foil tarnishes and loses its luster I think. Unless it’s a bad application.... Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Actually these were some crappy samples I got that worked like crap ;) Buy a good named brand foil and adhesive and I guarantee it will peel hot or cold without flaking at all. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
I have no idea. That heat press is very old. Most any halfway decent press will work. It’s a very simple machine so it depends on the luxuries you want. I sell inexpensive imported heat presses and they are just fine. Work very well. I think what you want to avoid is very, very cheap units or all in one type heat presses. $240 is pretty cheap. But I don’t necessarily endorse or recommend Hix. I got this one for free years ago. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
Im trying to figure out how can you do foil and regular ink without getting foil to come off on the regular ink. if I decide to do a varsity S but the outline is white and the inside is foil will it affect it.
@Mark Boston Jr - You could try a printable foil resist and screen print it over the outline area before foiling. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
For you I am not sure. You have to buy from someone who can ship ink there. Ink is pretty heavy so I don’t know how practical it would be if it is too far away. But you can buy textil plastisol and water based inks from many places online. Check out my RU-vid channel page for links to my sponsors. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Because there is a stencil that blocks the ink from passing through the screen except in the design areas. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
+Alan Phung It holds up pretty well but after years of wearing and washing it will ultimately start breaking down. Sometimes sooner. It also depends on how you wash it. Inside out, gentle cycle with Woolite ;) LOL.... you get the picture. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
+The Word Designs I would check with the makers of your specific foil product for technical assistance. I don't recall the specifics of this video so many years later but I should have mentioned the temp in video. I normally do ;) Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
You can get foils from many vendors online. I have a promo code for RhinoTech and they sell foils that work with screen printed adhesives or plastisol inks. The question is if they can or will ship to you. You can always ask. See the Catspit RU-vid channel page for the link to the RhinoTech page on the Catspit site and get promo code. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
The white liquid is a plastisol foil adhesive ink. The foil is a heat transfer foil. It’s all in the video I think. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Actually that was not the case with this foil. It really did the same thing hot or cold. And not all foils need to be cold peeled. A better quality foil can be peeled hot and work perfectly. That’s why many automatic printers do spot foiling on press immediately after the flash cure. The foil is applied hot by hand and works fine. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
+Nattapon Lohajoti Pretty sure I tell you all that in the video but it does not matter. This was a sample from Turkey. You cannot buy it in the States. But any name brand foil adhesive should work fine. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
i would go to a home- depot store or any hardware store and they have some really good chemicals to make bath tub look like new. (i had to get it for a house reno and can't remember the name)
Real 100% denim is 100% cotton so it's just like printing a shirt. Might need more heat to cure perhaps due to the heavy denim but pretty much the same. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
Some are cold peel and some are hot. Depends on the product. Hot peel foil is used on automatic presses because there is no time for cooling down. Often the foil is applied directly after flashing by hand. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
I don’t. I have not done much foiling recently. That’s why this was a sample. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
