I seasoned my Lonestar last week and I had the same experience. AWESOME COOKER! I can't wait to see you cook on that beast. And, I can't wait to see me cook on mine! :). Cheers Troy!
Very cool, you got a new LSG too!!!! Great minds do think alike! LOL I'm loving my new pit and I'm sure you will love yours!!! I have done 2 cooks on mine so far and both times the meat was excellent! I look forward to seeing you cook on yours too!!! Cheers Greg!!!
Thanks Justin! I'm already loving it. It produces some fine tasting BBQ! My son is excited to be getting the Yoder and I'm glad it's staying in the family too. Cheers brother! Tell David I said hello!!!
I've never owned a smoker before, but been doing tons of research from all the top RU-vid pit/grill aficionados. Lone Star Grillz is amazing, but I have yet to discover other "premium" names for roughly the same sized pit as this 24/36 LSG. Could you throw me a few names to check out, please? I'd greatly appreciate it.
Great Vid. Have several grills , smoker. Grilling next to my wood working are my two hobbies . Heart attacks took me off the road driving. Miss driving and the highways. But now have time to smoke ribs , butts , chickens . Just found you and enjoy the tips and hints . Never to old to learn , 84 years old . 🐻
Welcome to the LSG family bro!!! Chris and Amber make some great products so I know this pit will do you well for years to come. I'm rocking a 36" vertical offset with the warming oven. LOVE IT!!! Smoke on!!!
What a coincidence, I have been looking at the Lone Star Grillz lately. Since I live in the Dallas area, I wanted a smoker built in Texas and I have been researching Lone Star Grillz. I was thoroughly impressed with their craftsmanship and quality of materials. The biggest problem is deciding which smoker to get.
Yeah, I felt the same about going with a local Texas company which is why I chose LSG. And they do make some awesome pits!!! Hope you are able to get one soon brother!
Thanks for sharing this information. I'm in the market for another cooker and have just about settled on this one. I almost pulled the trigger on a PCB because it's so much less money but realized that I'll ultimately end up with a stick buner and believe this one is ideal.
T-Roy-always enjoy your videos and this one is no different. I am seriously in the market for one of these Lone Stars in this size. Thanks for showing us yours!
I have been looking at this model. There hasn't been much info outside of Lonestar. Thanks for the video looks like one of these is in my future. Great Video.
Dang you T-Roy! That’s a great looking pit and now on my list. Very impressed after doing some research on LSG. Can’t wait to see some videos on that bad boy!
Congrats Troy on the new pit! Can’t wait to see some cooks on it. I’ve been researching the lone star grillz for a while. I live in the northeast and it gets cold in the winter. I’m saving for one of their insulated vertical smokers.
Hi T-Roy, Congrats on the new rig, Lone Star grill is Awesome, new model too. I had strong feeling you were going to move to the Lone Star Grillz, super nice. Nice seasoning job but lets get busy and load those racks right up, lol. Thank you for sharing. Cheers, Craig
@@TROYCOOKS Hi this is Richard I'm up in northern Iowa really looking into getting a long star but can't decide which one either the 24" round or the 20 by 42 can you tell me is there any difference on the way they smoke
Hey there T-Roy, love your channel man. Next time your in the market for a new smoker, check out Allen's welding/woodworking on youtube. He's in Texas I believe (by Louisiana if i'm not mistaken), and makes some quality custom smokers. Keep on smoking brother!
Troy, I remember in a smoke management video you did on the Yoder that you actually had to open the door on the firebox to keep the smoke from being too heavy. Curious to see how the Lonestar works in the that regard.Let us know please
I think Yoder fixed that firebox issue a year or so ago, but I did have to leave my firebox door open most of the time. So far, on the LSG, I only have to leave the door open for 5 mins or so to get a new log going. Of course, if I heated the wood up on top of the firebox, I probably wouldn't need to leave the door ajar to get the new stick going. We shall see!!! Stay tuned!!!
I'm looking forward to doing some cooks on it too!!! I'm still learning on it, but everything I've cooked on it so far has been outstanding! Cheers brother!
Hi T-Roy. I am considering getting the 20x36 model. I wanted to get your opinion on how well the 3/16 thickness maintain heat. The other smoker I am considering is the Lang 20x36 patio original (1/4 chamber and firebox). I like the LSG design and features much more but concern I may be losing out on the 1/4”. Your thoughts and feedback is greatly appreciated. Love your videos!
If a big box store would offer these with free shipping I might get one. Grills are like trailers , every state seems to have people that make them if you know who to ask.
Dude, you tricked that out nicely with your name plate! You do great reviews. I watched someone else's review and was under the impression that the charcoal grate was a standard item...wrong? Thanks for the info. I've already decided the 20x30 is going to be mine, but I can't learn too much.
Dammmm , I just seasoned a toy Charbroil smoker I just bought, but kept the temp at half the seasoning around 300°F, what's the worst that could happen?
T-Roy thanks for the great videos. I'm glad I found your channel. Question for you about this smoker. Any regrets after getting the 20x36 instead of getting the next size up? I'm looking at the same one you have but don't wanna leave myself short on space. Thank so much and look forward to hearing back.
T-Roy That looks like one AWESOME smoker!!! I just emailed the company asking about shipping to Ohio. I put in a word for your video!!! Any options you wish you would have gotten with it?
Just curious if u notice the difference in taste between wood with bark and without bark my selection is small tho I got some English white oak rounds and they go ok but bitter if I leave bark on also I noticed you guys put wood under the charcoal and ur meat don’t get the black tinge on it I will try that as I normally put wood on top as u have in this video (only seasoning pit though) and meat takes on a dark colour keep your videos coming mate love them
Bark will definitely make your food taste more bitter if you have too much bark. I prefer wood without the bark, but sometimes you just have to use what you can find locally. Keep that smoke rollin' brother!
T-ROY COOKS yeah not a lot of ppl talk about that I’ve watched endless videos and have just found it out now Smoking meats has only just taken off here in Australia I’ve always bbq over dry sticks and twigs for that taste but actual smoking is new territory thanks for your videos brother
That is one sweet grill. Love these vids and the knowledge I glean every time I watch one! My Mom and Dad Think I'm good with the grill, (baby-backs) but compared to you I'm a rank amateur. Rock on Brother!
Ok, thanks for the info! Appreciate your videos and all the useful tips you share with all of us. Do you still have plans on working on a video with Texas Sausage Co. in the future?
Thanks Shane! I think the LSG will fit about as much food as the Yoder, perhaps a little more because of the LSG configuration. The Wichita cooking chamber is 42 inches wide, but because it's a barrel, you cannot fit a lot of meat on the top rack. The configuration of the LSG I have will allow it to fit a lot more meat on that top rack even though it's width is 36 inches. So, in my opinion, they are probably about the same overall cooking space inside the chamber.
Troy your my bbq hero and been with you since the beginning, I live in Texas and currently have a Kamado joe... I love it but I feel guilty not cooking on a stick burner since I’m from Texas ... I’ve been looking at Lonestar Grillz from Russ jones and now for sure I’m going to pull the trigger since you got one ....I feel like I would need the bbq guru being my first offset, what are your thoughts on the guru for a stick burner .... thank you so much for all your videos ... god bless from south Texas
Go for it Art!!! I've done a couple of cooks on my LSG and I have been very impressed so far. As for a Guru, I don't really think they are needed for offsets, but I have seen videos on the LSG channel and Chris is using one to help maintain temps during a long cook, so perhaps he can better explain if you need one or not? I appreciate you watching and thanks for the support my fellow Texan!!!
Just placed my order for the exact LSG stick burner, I will be following you closely since it’s my first offset smoker... wow I can’t believe you admitted your Yoder got out of control, you seem like if you do nothing wrong when it comes to bbqing/grilling/smoking, good to know you are human after all :) .... be safe and god bless
T-Roy is the reason why I bought a loaded Yoder Wichita smoker 5 years ago. He is also the reason why I'm ordering a new Lonestar Grill!!! I need to stop watching this damn channel!!🤣🤣
Well, I usually don't read the instructions, but with something this pricey, I wanted to make sure I followed instructions on how to season it. LOL Thanks for watching Christy and thanks very much for all you do as a moderator on my live chats! Love ya!!!
Thanks CJ!!!! I saw that they made specialized logo plates, sent them an image of my logo, and they were able to cut it out of stainless steel. Good stuff brother!!!
